Teacher no mask

Nc for this as may be outing.
Dh went to london yesterday on train and returned about 11pm.
On the return he saw the Head of the pre-order at my son's school with 3 friends - 2 ladies and 2 men altogether- all without masks and drinking from cans of g&t.
This is a £30k a year prep school, not that it should make any difference. But the head gets a lot of shit, because everyone pays they expect so much.
I'm inclined not to say anything, but wondered what would mn do?

@LeanishMachine

You're allowed to remove your mask on a train to eat or drink.
You are? I didn’t know but if so it’s an incredibly silly rule that you can remove your mask to eat or drink. A person on a train journey or bus where you can’t open windows for an amount of time can infect a few people.

A person sat or standing outside a bar is probably not going to, as the Covid19 virus will disperse quicker in fresh air. And inside a shop is relatively low risk as people do not remove masks and are only in them for a smaller amount of time usually far away from others.

We all need to get a bit wiser to relative risks. New York for example is really taking this on board and being very, very careful with public transport and restaurants. Anywhere you might take off masks and be inside basically.

Madrid on the other hand is in emergency measures now and I’ve read a few analysis where they say it is partly driven by people in small bars and cafes eating or drinking with no masks. Such a shame as they have the weather to sit outdoors!

SabrinaThwaite · 09/10/2020 20:54

So I’d be annoyed they couldn’t wait until they were at least out of the train before getting stuck into drinks.

I hope your judgey pants are pearl encrusted so that you can simultaneously hoist and clutch.

Armi · 09/10/2020 20:55

The way teaching is at the moment, I admire their restraint. I’m surprised they aren’t drinking straight gin from a 3 litre bottle and pushing spoonfuls of cocaine up their noses.

Leave them alone.Masks can be removed for eating and drinking.

LeanishMachine · 09/10/2020 20:58

Yes you can, they still sell food and drink on trains and you can still take your own. National Rail Enquiroes FAQs re face coverings

Say you’re travelling from London to Aberdeen - you shouldn’t be able to have anything to eat or drink? Wow.

DownThePlath · 09/10/2020 21:04

Surely not a prep school?! shock

Was that your husband's entertainment of the night? Get a life.

You and your husband need to mind your own business. You've no right to encroach on someone's private life. They're not doing anything illegal so focus on your own life.

Shizzlestix · 09/10/2020 21:34

I thought mn didnt like non mask wearers?

So you basically posted to try to get us to agree with about the outrageous behaviour of the teachers? Are they supposed to be beyond reproach or something?

Alloftheboys · 09/10/2020 22:13

Seems OP has sailed away on a river of her own froth 🤷‍♀️

LolaSmiles · 09/10/2020 22:26

It would seem teacher bashing and mask wearing wasn't the perfect match to get the frontiers going.
Now if they really wanted something to get people frothing at the mouth with rage, all they had to do was to was add in something about how the head was drinking gin instead of replying to urgent parental communications because it might have been out of the school day but 'what DO teachers do all day if they have time to enjoy a drink with friends' Grin

Storyoftonight · 09/10/2020 22:30

Get your nose out and get a life.

You cannot police what she does on a train because she is the head of your son's school. If you're that bothered pull your son out - you would probably be doing them a favour.

One of the most entitled things I've ever read in my life let alone on MN.

Thank you for your solidarity. I'm keeping that quote.

Lipstickpowderpaint · 09/10/2020 22:35

I got what I wanted and am now planning to grab a coffee which is a very hot and takes 45 mins to sip next time I pop up to town.
Actually glad I posted this as I had no idea! Despite the rude comments I can easily ignore.

Oh gosh OP you must inform everyone. How dare this teacher socialise with other humans. How dare she leave her classroom and drink.... omg.... alcohol. How utterly dare she. I'd start a petition if I were you.

SabrinaThwaite · 09/10/2020 22:38

Actually glad I posted this as I had no idea!

Clearly.

Every day’s a school day eh?

Laaalaaaa · 09/10/2020 22:44

Maybe you should contact the daily mail and practice your best face (maybe sad eyes?) for your picture outside the school. With your mask on obviously.

OP have you got nothing better to do than shit-stir? Serious question.

Lipstickpowderpaint · 09/10/2020 23:05

As in come on mumsnet and ask if something is a big deal, find out people think it's not, say ok and bugger off.
Yeah I probably have actually!

Well a sensible policy there might be to encourage drinking and eating in a buffet car with some kind of ventilation.

It’s not rocket science.

Having an attitude of keeping treats like drinking gin in lower rather than high risk situations will all help to prevent spread. It’s just clearer thinking.

Just living our lives keeping the virus as low as possible and keeping some of our wants limited if it’s high risk. Not a big ask really.

The virus doesn’t care whether people are sneering calling other people judgey pants - when there is a high situation and gap it will get in there.

StanfordPines · 09/10/2020 23:33

Is your issue that someone wasn’t wearing a mask when they should have been or that this maskless person is a teacher at the expensive school your son attends?

You are making out that the problem is the lack of mask but really it seems that it’s the teacher being out of school you are struggling with.

dublingirl66 · 09/10/2020 23:42

She was probably drinking to try and forget about all the annoying parents she has to deal with

Sounds like she earned that drink 🍻

FlouncerInDenial · 09/10/2020 23:48

Omg, when a poster starts a thread literally full of confidence about how it's going to go

And then

The stars don't align, or the wrong people at on, or whatever, and it's just wrong time/wrong place.

And the OP can't understand why they're being torn to shreds instead of posters lining up to agree.

That's my favouritest type of MN post.

Thank you

ilovesooty · 09/10/2020 23:51

@PurpleDaisies

Teacher bashing coupled with non-mask bashing.

That’s a new one.

My thoughts too. I don't think the OP name changed because this is outing either.
