We've had 4 birthdays here during covid - everyone made a fuss of and apart from parties still had big celebrations even in the middle of lockdown - it's called making an effort!!

It’s my friends big birthday today and had many many plans cancelled including lots of family coming from overseas so instead she’s organised 3 separate celebrations over the next few nights with different friends (due to the rule of 6)

During lockdown (proper lockdown), both my sister and I had our birthdays. We had zoom calls with our parents and ordered takeaway to eat together virtually and opened presents that we posted. Not our usual birthday but still acknowledging it.

My Dad and BIL has birthdays after it was allowed to meet in gardens. We celebrated their birthdays in the garden with a BBQ and presents.

Covid has changed how birthdays can be celebrated but your family have no excuse for not even wishing you a happy birthday!

I don't think going into details about how you spent your birthday is really helping.

It was my dh's birthday on Sunday, I got him, jeans, over shirt, aftershave and boxers from me and smaller kids. Ordered home delivery meal from our favourite restaurant. Eldest dd bought some lovely brown dms and dd in Canada sent him a big box of chocolates. Eldest ds had alcohol poisoning on Saturday so didn't get him a present but did call over to wish him happy birthday. Your family are self absorbed assholes. Happy birthday x
