I have tasted the worst drink in Christendom. Can you top this?

Category, as Ru Paul would say, is alcoholic drinks aimed at women.

I bought a bottle of Malibu Strawberry Spritz at Morrison’s last week. I like Malibu (don’t judge me) and strawberries and fizzy things.

I opened it last night. Christ, it was awful. Tasted like a weird blend of kids’ medicine and saturated sugar syrup. Not sure how you can make something like this taste un-fruity. And it was virulent pink.

Down the sink it went, even the plughole seemed to be resisting it by vomiting up the pink foam.

I can’t imagine anything worse but maybe you know differently.

YABU = yes, there are worse alcoholic drinks aimed at the ladies and I’m going to give you details.

YANBU = no, nothing sounds worse than Malibu Strawberry Spritz.

Irn Bru? you fucking Philistine!
purplebunny2012 · 09/10/2020 18:31

I actually really liked Butterbeer!

TheNavigator · 09/10/2020 18:38

Back up, back up - did someone say turnip juice? OMG!

Byllis · 09/10/2020 18:45

Ordered a dandelion and burdock at a cheap and cheerful fish and chips place recently. Realised too late that it would have artificial sweeteners. DISGUSTING.

Special mentions go to chinotto, Fanta and a gianduja liqueur I opened recently which tasted like a rancid chocolate fountain (more vegetable oil than chocolate). Ingredients in the latter must have changed as my previous bottle was a thick, velvety delight while this one is fit for the bin!

Sniv · 09/10/2020 18:45

Buckfast - it tastes evil.

sueelleker · 09/10/2020 18:56

Buckfast - it tastes evil. Of course it does-it's supposed to be good for you!

LadyofTheManners · 09/10/2020 19:01

I can beat it

Went to Aldi today and they have new Christmas stock in, including new flavours of gin in a tin. One was Seville Orange. Thought it would taste like a gin version of blood orange sanpelagrino
Oh it doesn't. It's vile. It just tastes like very strong booze, like how I imagine it would be to drink hand sanitizer.
So disappointed

EarlGreyJenny · 09/10/2020 19:02

Cement Mixer, hands down. Still dry boaking at the thought.

FelicisNox · 09/10/2020 19:08

I give it to you, that sounds proper nasty.

Bacardi and I are not friends and neither is JD with Apple and I.

《SHUDDER》

Alleycat1 · 09/10/2020 19:08

Can you imagine a mixture of paraffin and rosehip syrup? Well, that was the taste of a wine I was offered at a spa in Bolivia. Absolutely vile!

GabriellaMontez · 09/10/2020 19:17

Buttercup syrup is delicious if anyone is stuck in isolating and only has cough medicine to hand.

Sendintheclown · 09/10/2020 19:20

Echo falls gin fizz 🤮🤮🤮🤮

user1478112490 · 09/10/2020 19:23

Aperol spritz and any gin-I just don't get the hype-both are rank! I know-I must be odd!

Sandfairy69 · 09/10/2020 19:33

You are wrong. It’s almost like Kinnie ( Maltese - best soft drink in The World) You definitely have something wrong with your tastebuds, do you have COV19?😜

thebatman · 09/10/2020 19:36

@Sniv

Buckfast - it tastes evil.
It is evil, the bottles are filled straight from Satan's own cock!
Emmasonej3791 · 09/10/2020 19:38

Agree! Foulest thing I’ve ever tasted

GinWithASplashOfTonic · 09/10/2020 19:41

Another one who doesn't get the trend for aperol spritz it's grim. Also don't like Ricard

apapuchi · 09/10/2020 19:50

I love micheladas con Clamato (I think michelada itself is just lager over freshly squeezed lime juice with salt but the name varies around Mexico and the southern US). Lime juice around the rim of the glass, dipped in salt and tajin (dried chilli and lime flakes), loads of ice in the bottom of the glass, Clamato, tabasco sauce, squeeze of lime, Worcestershire sauce and then enough lager to top it off.

It's heaven and the ultimate hangover cure in the same way people have Bloody Marys I suppose. I wretched the first time I had it, like cold tomato soup or gazpacho or something, but learned to love them after five years of living in northern Mexico. I sympathise with the husband who tried it out to be adventurous, it's quite a weird experience and horrendous if you hate seafood and then find out you've been drinking clam juice!

What really makes me wretch now are those drinks with basil (?) seeds in. Looks like floating frogspawn and I can't be doing with lumpy drinks even when the taste is nice. Urgh.

SurferRona · 09/10/2020 19:55

@fairydustandpixies

You've reminded me of a vile drink I was given at Christmas - now I'll drink anything if its alcoholic but the parma violet gin went straight down the sink!!
Blush I live in fear they’ll stop making this. Essential for a decent aviation, amazing & gorgeous cocktail, well balanced sour and sweet, slightly floral. 🍹🍸
Mamascoven · 09/10/2020 19:55

Peach schnapps is horrendous. Makes me gag just thinking about it.

mussymummy · 09/10/2020 20:09

My friend from uni used to love sherry and red bull. It tasted like, like the worst cough medicine.

Merryweather80 · 09/10/2020 20:31

Crabbies raspberry alcoholic ginger beer gets my vote. Smells like toilet cleaner. Tastes like it too! 🤢

Tattygran14 · 09/10/2020 20:36

Newfoundland Screech anybody? I knocked my glass over, it sort of oozed. I think it's rum based..

Livpool · 09/10/2020 20:57

Aperol spritz - what a waste of sparkling wine.

Tequila - makes me vomit whether first drink or 13th

Anything with aniseed - yuck

Ecci · 09/10/2020 21:21

My uncle gave me a bottle of Stag's Breath one Christmas, allegedly a concoction of whisky and fermented honey, it was absolutely putrid. I'm sure it was made from real rancid Stag's breath. Also, a banana liqueur in Indonesia, it was foul, tasted like Pulmo Bailly, which is a cough medicine my mother used to pour into me, always made me gag.
