To hope Trump actually does catch COVID?

AlternativePerspective · 05/10/2020 21:28

I said all along that this wasn’t real, that this was a publicity stunt so that he could say he’d been through it and this was just proof that COVID wasn’t anything to be afraid of. And now he’s leaving hospital and has said:

"Don't be afraid of Covid. Don't let it dominate your life. We have developed, under the Trump Administration, some really great drugs & knowledge. I feel better than I did 20 years ago!!"
So now he’s saying that he’s come through COVID without issue (after a three whole days,) I hope he actually catches it so he can be exposed as a the liar and fraud he actually is. FWIW I don’t wish him serious illness or worse, just that COVID comes calling to expose him....

Sorry posted too soon. There have been comments on him and his health for some time now, so his looking unwell isn’t new.

if your already ill you could be scared of getting anything though, the flu, pneumonia, norovirus, everything would be worse for an already ill person. Even well people anything could potentially kill them , there's just no point living in fear constantly. There will always be something to be afraid of xx Replace “scared” with “actively trying to avoid”, because there is a difference. I’m not scared of becoming ill, I am a flu survivor with a now serious heart condition and heading towards the transplant list. I’ve crashed and been defibrilated, had a cardiac arrest and been given CPR, so I’m well aware that my next illness could kill me. Such is life.

But that doesn’t mean that I would want to catch the next illness. I don’t have to be scared of it to avoid it anyway.

Presumably you could go out in your car and have a crash and be killed, and presumably you don’t give that much thought when you’re out and about. I bet you still travel with a seatbelt to lessen the possibility of serious injury though?

I don't like the man at all but I live in the US. Why do any of you care, he doesn't effect you lives. I could care less how Boris Johnson runs your country. It isn't my business. Please don't feel for us, we will manage just fine. Well quite apart from the fact that what goes on in the US very much does affect what goes on in other parts of the world, most people are more inclined to look beyond their own front door. But as you say you’ve never even heard of Margaret Thatcher it’s clear you’re not one of them.

Incidentally, if you care so little about what goes on in other countries, why are you on a Uk parenting site?

Stellarto1s · 06/10/2020 06:30

Nasty lot on here, aren’t you?

Darker · 06/10/2020 06:45

How so, Stellar?

AlternativePerspective · 06/10/2020 06:50

Why exactly? Because a man who is the leader of a powerful country where the pandemic has killed hundreds of thousands is using this pandemic to his own advantage by saying that it really isn’t anything to worry about because he’s (allegedly) had it and feels fine?

The writing was on the wall here as soon as it emerged he’d tested positive.

I don’t believe for a second he has COVID, but even in the event he does, using the fact to justify his previous stance on the illness is despicable.

And how is wishing COVID on him nasty? After all, it’s nothing to worry about, is it?

OP posts:
Pixxie7 · 06/10/2020 07:02

It’s not a matter of being nasty a million people worldwide have died. Millions more have lost their livelihood. He has been able to access drugs not available to the rest of the country not to mention 24 hr medical care.
He has no concept of what the average person has or is going through, His current arrogance is bound to wind people up.

HelloToMyKitty · 06/10/2020 07:36

He is out of hospital now and saying it wasn't too bad. He is very lucky is all I can say about that, especially considering his age

He had a 95% chance of recovery so he’s not very lucky, he’s the norm. It would have been unlucky for him to die of COVID.

Can’t believe the conspiracy theory that he never had it is still around. Do you actually think this was staged with the cooperation with a renowned medical facility? Beggars belief.

He’s just feeling amazing right now because of the steroids. Unfortunately...you do crash later on. Going to likely be a bit low-energy for his rallies and such.

Lollyneenah · 06/10/2020 07:42

I dont think he has lied about the extent of his illness but he is being monumentally selfish and shortsighted.
I have covid, the 3rd to 5th days I felt a bit shit- but have felt fine a good week now. Still staying inside obviously and will do a bit longer. But it is possible to be relatively untouched by it

Roselilly36 · 06/10/2020 07:44

I wouldn’t wish a serious, potential life threatening illness on anyone ever.

HelloToMyKitty · 06/10/2020 07:47

And how is wishing COVID on him nasty? After all, it’s nothing to worry about, is it?

Five percent chance of death is not nothing. However, 95% chance of recovery is good odds.

But perhaps the larger point is that we should not shut down the world for something that really only is a (small) danger to the elderly.

Millions more have lost their livelihood

Blame unnecessary lockdowns for that. Not COVID.

He has been able to access drugs not available to the rest of the country not to mention 24 hr medical care

Not true. Remdesivir is not currently in shortage in the US. I do think there are supply chain issues globally but it’s disingenuous to say there’s a shortage in the US.

He was also on some sort of experimental drug but if the FDA hasn’t cleared it for use, then it’s probably not ready for rollout.

His current arrogance is bound to wind people up

He’s winding you up by saying that COVID is nothing to fear. For the vast majority of us, though, it is true. So why not get on with life instead of prolonging this with more fearmongering?

CoronaIsWatching · 06/10/2020 07:49

@BeaverTail

I'm reassured to see the polls continuing to slip away from him too, and dont think he's going to be getting a sympathy bounce.

He has only a very small chance of winning the vote...but I guess the danger of him disputing the results is still very real.

Well thats what they said last time, personally I'm fully expecting another 4 years of this oaf
AlternativePerspective · 06/10/2020 07:50

He had a 95% chance of recovery so he’s not very lucky, he’s the norm. It would have been unlucky for him to die of COVID. Who said anything about expecting him to die? Dying from COVID isn’t everything, catching it and having a horrible illness and then surviving with potential long-term consequences is. And from what appears to have happened here, he announced on Friday he had the virus, then popped off to hospital, and by Monday he’s proclaiming that he feels better than ever and people shouldn’t be afraid.

Even if he was lucky enough to breeze through COVID, making those kinds of declarations in a country where they’ve had over 7 million infections and several hundred thousand deaths, criticising Joe Biden for not putting himself out there, is grossly irresponsible.

As for the conspiracy, no of course the whole medical facility wouldn’t need to be in on it. The only person who would need to be in on it is the person who could claim to have seen the test result. Everyone else would be told that the president is positive, and now if anyone tests him and it comes back negative it can simply be stated that he has made a remarkable recovery.

OP posts:
CaptainBrickbeard · 06/10/2020 07:53

It’s very typical Covid progression to feel better and then sharply decline again so he’s jumping the gun pushing this ‘easy recovery, nothing to be scared of’ narrative. A lot of patients report thinking they’re recovered at the end of the first week and then getting much more ill than they were to begin with in the second week. He really isn’t out of the woods and the spin he’s putting on it is extremely dangerous for everyone else. He seems to have a real contempt for illness and sees it as a sign of weakness or being a loser so is trying to bluster through it, not caring who else he puts at risk in the process. It’s bizarre. And given how erratic he is normally, the idea of him on steroids is...alarming.

Darker · 06/10/2020 07:53

Lolly I’m glad you feel well

The fact is that people do die and get very sick and Mr Trump is encouraging people to tough it out without taking precautions. Most people will be fine but his actions will lead to lots more infections. People with underlying conditions or older or overweight will be exposed unnecessarily. He knowingly puts people at risk in full public view. It’s appalling.

I hope he loses the election resoundingly.

Rhine · 06/10/2020 07:59

Claudia Conway, daughter of Kelly Anne Conway has claimed on Twitter that he’s not feeling better at all and they are struggling to stabilise him. She’s also said that her mother lied to her about testing positive and she only found out from the news.

Pixxie7 · 06/10/2020 08:05

HelloToMyKitty@ so it’s ok for the elderly to die? Also do you really think that countries worldwide would essentially shut their countries down and continue to do so. Not to mention essentially destroy their economies.
I am not sure what your qualifications you have or if it’s just your opinion but I trust the experts.

x2boys · 06/10/2020 08:07

I think he probably does have it,they have said repeatedly that the turning point ( if people are going to get seriously ill ) is 7_10 days so if he tested positive on Thursday it could be end of the week early next week before he starts to develop serious symptoms ,I do think he's an ignorant, arrogant twat however and has done himself no favours minimising it particularly for all the Americans who have lost loved ones to COVID.

cheezy · 06/10/2020 08:08

That Claudia Conway is brilliant! A lone voice in the wilderness

lubeybooby · 06/10/2020 08:10

I didn't believe he had it either, but IF he did this could well be the lull before the storm and they have really misjudged and jumped the gun - you know how Boris took a bad turn somewhere between day 7 to 10? I don't recall.

Either way, Trump is a dangerous idiot who seems to think North Korea is an ideal example of a country

He's like the worst written, most predictable and pathetic villain in the worst written film ever. Just disgusting.

Stellarto1s · 06/10/2020 08:10

What is wrong with you people? If he has Covid why would you wish him dead? I shall be voting for him AGAIN in the next election. Y’all don’t live in America, what the hell do you know?

KnightsofColumbusThatHurt · 06/10/2020 08:13

He says he feels great? I'm sure that will be the Dexamethasone! I'm holding out hope for the mother of all steroid crashes in the next couple of days Grin

AlternativePerspective · 06/10/2020 08:15

What is wrong with you people? If he has Covid why would you wish him dead? I shall be voting for him AGAIN in the next election. Y’all don’t live in America, what the hell do you know? Well, given you clearly haven’t read the thread in order to see that not one single person here has wished him dead, it would be pointless having a discussion with you about it....

And as I said above, you don’t live in the UK, so why are you on a UK parenting site?

OP posts:
MajesticWhine · 06/10/2020 08:19

I think he has it. The invincibility seems like part of his personality. But possibly boosted by his medication.

derxa · 06/10/2020 08:20

And as I said above, you don’t live in the UK, so why are you on a UK parenting site? Oh for goodness sake. There are many people on here who are posting from outside the UK.
