Where would you hide the paper clip?

You have five minutes to hide a paper clip in your home. A detective then has 24 hours to look for it. If he finds it, he gets £10,000. If he fails to find it, you get £10,000.

Where are you going to hide the paperclip?

Straightened and put into bra underwire slot.

Which was one of the most upvoted suggestions on reddit, where this thread was nicked from.

Jessi1972 · 05/10/2020 13:36

Just asked hubby were he would hide it and he replied "in one of my body piercings" 😂 😂😂😂😂😂

DeeDimer · 05/10/2020 13:39

Attach it to the collar of my shaggy-desperately-in-need-of-a-groom dogs collar.

lillylemons · 05/10/2020 13:41

no idea I can't find the paper clips i brought last week so where ever they are would be my hiding place.

Petitmum · 05/10/2020 13:43

Sewn into the heading tape of my curtains (which have metal rings), metal detector would not reveal it.

Poorpigletsrevenge · 05/10/2020 13:45

I’d tuck it in my ponytail. It would be in the house, but would be on me. Is that cheating?

If so, and it has be in the house I’d hide it up one of my chair legs and out the floor protector back on it.

Shelby1981 · 05/10/2020 13:48

Inside the cavity wall

With so many suggesting this it's no wonder I get stopped virtually every time I go through airport security and have to have the full check over in a cubicle! 😂
poptypingchef · 05/10/2020 13:50

Well now I’ll not stop thinking about:

A) where to hide it
B) when C4 will make this into a show

😂😂😂

Mypathtriedtokillme · 05/10/2020 13:50

Underneath the skirting boards behind the Wooden beading where it joins the floor along with the 9 billion hairpins that have somehow found their way into the tiny gaps the last 200 years. (I know I’ve been digging the bloody things out do I can gap seal.)

Pinkypie86 · 05/10/2020 13:50

Your imaginations never cease to amaze me!!

Lego box is great!

Washing basket, right at the bottom amongst odd socks and DPs holey boxers ( don't judge ).
Cutlery drawer?
Inside one of the kids scrunchies in the scrunchie box - we have hundreds!

GabsAlot · 05/10/2020 13:56

can they use a metal detector? and can you reshape it

Ohtherewearethen · 05/10/2020 13:58

Of straighten it out and push it into a tube of superglue. Replace cap and throw back in the drawer of shite.

Ohtherewearethen · 05/10/2020 13:58

*I'd

vanillandhoney · 05/10/2020 14:06

I'd light a candle, let the wax melt, put the clip in the melted wax and let it harden over.

mumwon · 05/10/2020 14:06

in the attic in one of the lost boxes of stuff that we store up there never to be seen again
who needs insulation in their attic we have insulation floorboards & boxes (&boxes & boxes & boxes of stuff that we have no idea & by the way dh where did you put the Christmas tree (s) its about time we started the annual hunt so we have them for (next years) Christmas?)

doctorhamster · 05/10/2020 14:09

I'd push into a mattress or pillow. Maybe the bottom of the sofa.

EstuaryBird · 05/10/2020 14:18

Lift up a bit of loft insulation and push paper clip into it. Replace loft insulation. Detective might possibly find it but they’d have to feel their way through an awful lot of insulation first..

One of those portable 2 sided makeup mirrors—the glass is ever so slightly loose, you could wiggle it in the side so it wedges in the gap between the 2 mirrors. Wouldn’t be possible to locate with metal detector, and if wedged properly won’t rattle.

Sunnydaysstillhere · 05/10/2020 14:20

Wedge it into the fur of my hairy Husky...

MJMG2015 · 05/10/2020 14:20

@Whosthatgirlitsjess

Straighten it out and use it create an extra spiral on a spiral-bound notebook.

In the oven under the lining parchment

Fairybatman · 05/10/2020 14:25

Wrap it around the magnet of a fridge magnet (we collect crap fridge magnets) and stick it back on the board with an old receipt.

Londonmummy66 · 05/10/2020 14:28

Not sure where I'd hide the real one but I'd make sure I hid a load of decoys in all the places you are mentioning which should keep him guessing for more than 24 hours.

mumwon · 05/10/2020 14:35

the detective got lost in our attic never to be seen again...
