Where would you hide the paper clip?

You have five minutes to hide a paper clip in your home. A detective then has 24 hours to look for it. If he finds it, he gets £10,000. If he fails to find it, you get £10,000.

Where are you going to hide the paperclip?

@YetAnotherSpartacus they've marked it with a kind of a mark that only they would recognise.

NoParticularPattern · 05/10/2020 12:54

The pipe work of the upstairs bathroom sink. I can’t even find where the pipe work goes so there’s even less chance of anyone finding something in there 🙈

Inside the wiring of a bra

mawbroon · 05/10/2020 12:56

Soldered inside an electrical appliance, but it would take me more than 5 minutes to find the bloody soldering iron 🤣

Wound round a violin peg under the string

Wrapped round the picture wire behind a painting, or maybe between the canvas and the frame backing.

bravebunting · 05/10/2020 13:02

Another vote for inside bra wiring but as there's so many saying that, he would look..

I'd scrape out an eyeshadow, place it in there, reset the eyeshadow powder on top using alcohol gel method. Buff. Put in make up case.

First thing I'd buy with my £10k would be new eyeshadow.

Bag of flour.
Curtain rail.
Strip light in the kitchen
Unscrew Ike furniture, put in seam, rescrew.

Disfordarkchocolate · 05/10/2020 13:05

If I can reshape it - in the top wire of the lightshade in the hall.

If it has to stay the same shape - underneath the washing machine or pushed inside a gold candle I only use at Christmas.

Inside one of the lego boxes

CherryBlossomPink · 05/10/2020 13:08

Sewn in the hem of a winter coat with metal buttons so a metal detector would be useless

OldEvilOwl · 05/10/2020 13:09

In the sofa - never to be seen again

Feckmesideways · 05/10/2020 13:09

Insert it inside a tampon and then place it in the bathroom bin underneath the real waste.

Or safely hide it in my 300 litre fish tank under substrate and ornament on top( no way of fish getting to it). My fish is venomous and has spikes so wouldn’t be wise to put your hand in there, you’d end up in hospital.

Aroundtheworldin80moves · 05/10/2020 13:10

Oohh Lego. Inside a 2 by 8, incorporated into a built model.

TonytheDog · 05/10/2020 13:13

Magnet it to the inside of my stove top kettle.
Inside a frozen lasagne.
Empty out ice cream (Ben&Jerry type tub), put paper clip in. Add a false bottom covering paper clip, put ice cream back and chuck into freezer.
Carefully take the label off of a can of dog food, puncture a tiny hole, straighten out paper clip and push it in, file edge of hole flat, stick label back on.
Inside a pumpkin growing in the garden.
Straightened out and used to tie rose bush stem to a stake, along with lots of other garden wire.

Lockheart · 05/10/2020 13:15

Does it have to be in the house or just on your property? If the latter, I'd pick a random spot of lawn to push it into.

This is assuming no metal detectors are allowed. We need to know the rules!

raddledoldmisanthropist · 05/10/2020 13:17

Insert it inside a tampon and then place it in the bathroom bin underneath the real waste.

Same, but I'd put the tampon somewhere else.

rslsys · 05/10/2020 13:19

Make it the nose piece of my COVID mask.

SilenceOfThePrams · 05/10/2020 13:19

Inside one of the springs either on the pocket sprung mattress or else on the trampoline.

tammy909 · 05/10/2020 13:20

DH says he would unfold the clip and insert it into the bottom of a banana (where it’s brown and hard) and slide it up through the banana.

Great discussion on a WFH lunch! Grin

TinaTraybake · 05/10/2020 13:21

In an avocado

Giggorata · 05/10/2020 13:22

Some of these are inspired!

I'd embed it in fire clay and stick it in the gap between fire bricks in the wood burner. That way, I could have a fire when he came to do the search.

Feckmesideways · 05/10/2020 13:22

@raddledoldmisanthropist Grin I was going to say that but thought I’d be hit back with disgust. There really is no better place!

Ariela · 05/10/2020 13:24

Anywhere in my house. It's that untidy, too much cr*p needs sorting out, he'd never find it.

HavelockVetinari · 05/10/2020 13:26

Light a big candle jar, wait for the wax to melt and then hide the paperclip in the wax.

Push it between the floorboards.

Inside the giant wasps' nest in the loft!

Jessi1972 · 05/10/2020 13:28

I have 8 bookcases stuffed with books all over the house. Quite a few of them have metal bookmarks inside so I would add the paperclip to a book.
With the amount of books I have (over 2000) I think the detective would admit defeat and give up 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
