I was quite excited when I saw they’d launched a plus size collection, but when you compare it to the elegant and pretty regular collection this is so far off the mark, is it me?

It's rather boring. I wouldn't say frumpy, it maintains the streamlined look that KM is well known for.

However, KM stuff has really declined in style and quality overall since it was taken over. All the KM designers were made redundant so what we see now isn't really "KM". I'm gutted, my favourite designer! Now trying to snap up the old stuff on Ebay.

BTW did you know it's now owned by Boohoo, who we ought to all be boycotting? Disgusting treatment of their staff.

LibrariesGiveUsPower · 03/10/2020 12:17

I wouldn’t say frumpy, just very very dull.

I didn’t know that, dd has boycotted boohoo, they were never really on my radar to boycott

It does appear that you are only allowed to wear prints if you are below a certain size.

I didn't know that Karen Millen were owned by Boohoo. Every day's a school day!

OnlyFoolsnMothers · 03/10/2020 12:19

I quite like it- strong staples imo. I often think the plus size clothes are nicer than those in smaller sizes where it’s assumed everyone wants slashed tops and weird cuts.
As for boohoo I didn’t know that- but it’s down to the Authorities to clamp down on inhumane practises and pay.

doctorhamster · 03/10/2020 12:19

I can't see anything on there that I couldn't buy elsewhere for less money tbh.

formerbabe · 03/10/2020 12:23

I actually really like it...I'm a size 16 and those styles are what I'm always looking for in clothes and what suit me. I think the clothes look lovely and flattering. Just making clothes from the ordinary range larger doesn't always work imo...you need different shapes and materials.

I think that’s the main issue, there’s nothing there that seems special enough to me to warrant km level money, although I quite like the rib dress

Maybe like most brands, they just want to start with a basics collection to see how it will actually sell at the prices they charge. Thats not a making plus size boring thing, its just common sense....

Ihatemyseleffordoingthis · 03/10/2020 12:27

It's just boring basics in the main - SO MANY plain tops
But KM has seemed quite dated and boring to me for a while

ilikebooksandplants · 03/10/2020 12:28

looks a bit jane norman to me.

formerbabe · 03/10/2020 12:28

It is quite expensive but I expect the material is good quality and its well made. Yes, you can buy similar styles on the cheap fast fashion websites but those clothes are invariably see through and fall apart.

Ginfordinner · 03/10/2020 12:29

Same. However, I like those clothes, except for the jacket, which looks like a bed jacket. Maybe it's my age, but plain classics like that never seem frumpy to me.

pinkyboots1 · 03/10/2020 12:35

Oh dear, nothing 'inspirational' there and the pic of the model slouching in the chair definitely doesn't make we want to buy the outfit!

I really don’t think that picture is flattering at all 😂

Yes, I wouldn't say they're groundbreaking designs but it's very wearable.

SchrodingersImmigrant · 03/10/2020 12:39

We ought to but obviously people don't considering their profits went up...

Yeah. It's pretty dull collection. But then some people like simplicity like that.

GrumpyHoonMain · 03/10/2020 12:41

Boohoo and Boden are often made in the same factory units in Leicester.

GrumpyHoonMain · 03/10/2020 12:41

Joules too.

Trumpeditnow · 03/10/2020 12:42

I’ve had a brief look OP KM is not usually what I would buy anyway. Apart from the odd couple of bits the range looks “basic” like what you would find on ASOS.

The model wearing some of them tops has a fuller bust so maybe it’s how she also wore the clothes too.

AnnaMagnani · 03/10/2020 12:44

It's OK but not sure how it will look in real life. Those knit dresses have a tendency to cling all over to lumps and look dreadful bitter experience and look nothing like the sleek stylish things they do on the model.

I'm not convinced they are that wearable.

NW2SW · 03/10/2020 12:45

The tailoring and styling isn't doing it any favours. Single blocks of one colour and very modest shapes are adding to the frump factor.

ceeveebee · 03/10/2020 12:51

Think they are actually versions of the main range but look frumpier on a larger model (and I say this as a size 14 short pear!!)

I don't think single blocks of one colour are frumpy. Who decides this? On other style and beauty threads wearing patterns is considered frumpy.

ageingdisgracefully · 03/10/2020 12:52

Some nice things there. That red dress is stunning imho.
