Once again pregnant ( ahhh)

Once again craving tuna

Pregnancy no 1 was very similar but now I just want to eat it everyday!

Obviously aware of the limits on tuna during pregnancy but how much tuna did you really eat during your pregnancy?

I wanted tuna every day! I would have a tin every other day, or half a tin every day. Could have easily eaten more though!

Squaretoe · 03/10/2020 10:40

Oh and congratulations!

Emmmie · 03/10/2020 10:43

I haven't had any. I used to love it before the pregnancy but I cannot even look at it now (20 weeks pregnant).

PeachesTheFlamingo · 03/10/2020 10:43

DS is due in March. I haven't had any tuna since I fell pregnant. I didn't eat an awful lot of it before, but I have really fancied a tuna, mayo and salad baguette for a while now.

TheBitterBoy · 03/10/2020 10:44

I used to work in a lab that tested tinned tuna for Mercury and we always found it, every tin had some. I was shocked that the NHS says 4 tins a week is okay, it seems too much given what I saw at work.

blinkybill47 · 03/10/2020 10:46

At least a medium can daily

Igotthemheavyboobs · 03/10/2020 10:51

I really tired to limit it to twice a week but it was so hard 😭

Igotthemheavyboobs · 03/10/2020 10:53

The only reason I was able to stop myself was remembering a friend who told me about wheb he was about 20 and started noticing a yellowing of his skin. He went to the Dr and it turned out he had mercury poisoning. He ate a can of tuna a day. He was fine in the end and his skin went back to normal.

I thought if that happened to a grown ass man, I should try and limit it for a teeny baby.

Baaaahhhhh · 03/10/2020 11:03

Quite often. The choice of sandwiches at work was pretty limited, and tuna mayo was one of the nicer options. Maybe two or three a week, the rest of the time I had pate salad sandwich Shock. I was pretty lax with everything tbh. Don't drink or smoke, and those are the two most important.

Brandaris · 03/10/2020 11:17

I try to limit to just one sandwich a week, but it is a veeery full sandwich!

sapnupuas · 03/10/2020 11:20

Ah man, now I really want a tuna sandwich.

Have you tried putting salt and vinegar crisps in it?

Congratulations.

rorosemary · 03/10/2020 11:23

In my country they advise not to eat any tuna during pregnancy, not even the tinned ones.

My first lunch wish when home after birth is a tuna melt.

june2007 · 03/10/2020 11:30

The odd bit here and there, There is a concearn that certain fish have high murcury levels but having a tuna sandich once a wk probably is going to be fine.

busyberightback · 03/10/2020 11:31

@sapnupuas I eat all my sandwiches with crisps inside 😎

OP posts:
changerr · 03/10/2020 11:33

Loads!

changerr · 03/10/2020 11:34

OMG, yes, with salt and vinegar crisps! Perfection!
And 3 healthy babies.

Is there anything that's quench the urge? Something protein-y, and fishy...maybe an egg and a packet of prawn cocktail crisps?

Throughout my pregnancy I just ate Cheerios. Bowls and bowls and bowls of Cheerios.

MyNameForToday1980 · 03/10/2020 11:37

*That'll... Obv.

yeOldeTrout · 03/10/2020 11:37

1x (standard? size?) can a day with DD for at least 6 weeks. I couldn't keep a lot else down & tuna was a winner. With lots of mayo. Stopped giving a crap about guidelines.

DD just started Uni. Can't see any harm done.

Camomila · 03/10/2020 11:41

DS2 - 5 none I think, had hyperemesis, ate about 5 foods on repeat.

DS1 - was working in London with a PRET under the office, had a tuna and cucumber baguette each week. I don't really like tuna pasta etc.

pinksparkleunicorns · 03/10/2020 11:43

I didn't know this was a thing, with my first pregnancy I NEEDED TUNA! I cried once because the canteen had run out. Zero control over this.

Tinned tuna you can have lots more than tuna steaks.

I ate a tuna roll every day. I wanted more....

busyberightback · 03/10/2020 11:46

Strangely with my boy (23 months) I was tuna crazy but with my little girl (5 months) I wasn't interested?

Maybe another boy?... I smell something fishy!

OP posts:
Couchbettato · 03/10/2020 11:48

Tuna is the bane of my existence. Hate the taste and smell.

But you bet I had a tuna melt sub at least once a month when I was pregnant, with sweetcorn, onion, cucumber, lettuce, lite mayo and sweet onion sauce.

amiw · 03/10/2020 11:53

For the last 6 weeks every day.....DS is 20!
