Once again pregnant ( ahhh)

Once again craving tuna

Pregnancy no 1 was very similar but now I just want to eat it everyday!

Obviously aware of the limits on tuna during pregnancy but how much tuna did you really eat during your pregnancy?

About once a week. Local cafe does a delicious tuna melt panini and it goes so well with their coleslaw and side salad. I’m craving one now.

ittakes2 · 03/10/2020 12:04

Try mackerel - it’s the big fish which have more mercury.

CatsGoPurrrr · 03/10/2020 12:47

I hate fish. Hate it. I don’t even like fish fingers, yet when I was pregnant, I could hoover up tuna like nobodies business. Especially mixed with vinegar and sweetcorn.

Once I’d given birth, once again can’t stand the taste or smell of it.

whatswithtodaytoday · 03/10/2020 12:51

I only allowed myself one a week, but GOD it was delicious Grin

vixb1 · 03/10/2020 13:01

Wow, I really craved tuna in my pregnancies and had no idea it was a thing! I feel vindicated!

JesusInTheCabbageVan · 03/10/2020 13:07

Oh, I remember the tuna cravvings. I rationed it to one tin a week. I remember once waking up at around midnight on a Sunday and giving serious thought to having a tuna sandwich as it was technically a new week.

busyberightback · 03/10/2020 13:13

@JesusInTheCabbageVan completely get this, had an alarm in pregnancy number1 .. a. Tuna alarm

Strangely with both my pregnancies, my biggest craving was ice cubes. Zero nutritional value, but poor DH couldn't keep up the requirement. Now in mid-50's getting the craving again, must be something hormonal.

JesusInTheCabbageVan · 03/10/2020 14:24

@busyberightback like so many others, I'm amazed it's an actual thing!

How many of these tuna-babies now love tuna? Mine does (he's 8 now).

BetsyBigNose · 03/10/2020 14:27

With DD1 I was a little worried about the mercury in tuna, so rationed myself to one tin a week, but with DD2 (having seen DD1 came out with no sign of mercury poisoning!) I figured 2 tins a week would be ok - and it was!

Broccoli though... thank goodness there aren't any warnings on how much of that I could have. I ate an entire head of broccoli nearly every day from 5 or 6 weeks, right up till about 32 weeks with each pregnancy. Amazingly, both DDs, who are now 11 & 13, have both always loved it!

caringcarer · 03/10/2020 14:35

None, yuk, give it to the cat.

Wibblypiggly · 03/10/2020 14:52

Tonnes. I ate a lot of tuna and oily fish. I basically ate everything except liver. I didn’t curb anything. The kid is fine and I am healthy 👍🏻

Witchend · 03/10/2020 15:22

None. Through all.

I craved washing powder in my first. I didn't eat any.

Hatscats · 03/10/2020 15:28

I gave up tuna years ago, shame as I love it! Currently pregnant and fancied it but haven’t had any.

With the mercury and how unsustainable it is, I feel bad eating it!

FinalDecision1 · 03/10/2020 15:41

I craved tuna too! Specifically tuna sandwiches with onion and cucumber. I'd have them at 8am in the morning most mornings.
