Breaking news from the US is stating that Donald has been transferred to Walter Reed Medical Center....To people who probably don't know Walter Reed is a major VA hospital in Washington DC. I was transferred there from Germany. The VA is for Vets and has been broken for many, many years. For the past month on his reelection adverts Donald has been saying he has fixed the VA . He hasn't. He is a lying sack of shit. Maybe now he will figure out exactly how broken that system is and pull that fucking advert and save the remainder of my televisions

YABU to think that that President of the United States is going to receive anything other than top-tier medical care, regardless of where he is.

You won't get top care at Walter Reed no matter who you are. Its impossible. If that hospital (most VA hospitals) wasn't owned by the DOD they would be shut down. They don't have staff, equipment, infrastructure in wonderful times. Let alone now. Obama tried to fix Walter Reed 18 months before he left office. Trump stopped the work

I've said yabu because trump is to stupid to put 2+2 together

Sparklesocks · 03/10/2020 00:14

They’ll do whatever it takes.

Now thats fair. Im just so sick of that damn advert when so many of our Vets are suffering to lack of medical care and he has claimed to fix the system...Absolutely infuriating. My poor TVs and phones...

What is VA?

Mascaramademehappy · 03/10/2020 00:17

He won’t be getting the same treatment as “normal” patients seen there. He has also been taken in as a precaution and is in the Presidential Suite.

HunkyPunk · 03/10/2020 00:22

VA is Veteran's Affairs (as in Dept. of). It's a military hospital.

I know where it is at and exactly where he is right now. I was stationed there AND received care there. He is going to get an earful. A real earful. Not the shit thrown around a photo op last week
OP posts:
Sparklesocks · 03/10/2020 00:29

@Leaannb an earful from who exactly?

SisyphusAndTheRockOfUntidiness · 03/10/2020 00:36

It's a VA hospital? And he chose to go there, on purpose?

Leaannb · 03/10/2020 00:39
@Leaannb an earful from who exactly?
The people who work there. I know his care will be better than the Vets. Never said otherwise. But he will still definitely see the issues from lack of staff, lack of money and lack of equipment. My colleagues who work at WR would never do anything wrong just to prove a point. They are dedicated to the work. Long hours and extremely bad pay compared to Civilian perssonel. They truly do it for the love of the work. But they aren't miracle workers. They can't take another person off a vent to give to him. They will not choose to let one of their own down to serve him. Especially hours after he blamed Vets and Military members for giving him Covid. He is just going to get an eye opening look from the patient's side. If he is reelected and thats a big if (due to the Military blunders) right now maybe he will actually help these people. Help all of us.

By being President he has no choice to go. Yes there is a little bit of glee in that statement.

Why does a VA hospital have a presidental suite?

daisypond · 03/10/2020 00:45

I might assume the presidential suite has its own vent.

Sparklesocks · 03/10/2020 00:46

Sorry but I absolutely believe they would take someone off a ventilator for him! Or more likely - fly another one in if they needed. He probably has specialist doctors/staff drafted in too if needed. I don’t doubt what you’re saying about the difficulties of the hospital, but he won’t experience any of it in the way other patients would.

Newjez · 03/10/2020 00:50

Four years since he laughed at Hillary's pneumonia.

Irony is cruel.

Newjez · 03/10/2020 00:50

Forgot to say, hopes and prayers people. Hopes and prayers.

SisyphusAndTheRockOfUntidiness · 03/10/2020 00:51

I don't understand, why would he not have a choice about going to the VA hospital? (I find myself unreasonably interested in this! Actually it's mostly just because I find the US medical system so strange, I thought the whole point of paid healthcare was choice?)

newnameforthis123 · 03/10/2020 00:52

Unfortunately and unfairly they will fly in whoever / whatever they need to give him world leading care in the same building as other people not getting anywhere near that. It's a PR move to send him there due to the reasons you've outlined. He'll say he had the same care as other people. It won't be true.

Graphista · 03/10/2020 00:57

Yabu because

Even IF he really is there he'll still get excellent care from the best medics even if they fly them in!

Staff are very unlikely to put a flea in his ear because they won't want to risk their jobs!

Even IF they were brave enough to give him the unvarnished truth he'd just ignore them

And that's all assuming the news is even true which I and many others are sceptical of

And no I don't doubt for a SECOND they'd take a vent off some poor foot soldier if the president needed it!

CalmYoBadSelf · 03/10/2020 01:05

If any medic makes his time there difficult that would be a lack of professionalism no matter what other issues they face. Medicine and healthcare should be above politics

Aesopfable · 03/10/2020 01:13

I strongly suspect that lack of money will not be an issue in the presidential suite. It will have a fully kitted out, latest high spec ICU and staff will be bought in specially for him.

RightYesButNo · 03/10/2020 01:24

While I 100% agree with you that he is a lying POS for saying he fixed the veterans’ medical system, YABVU if you think he will see or experience any of it at all.

He was whisked immediately to the Presidential Suite, and only taken to Walter Reed due to the security it can offer (I believe it is the only hospital with a Presidential Suite as the military hospital closest to the White House). Once there, he’s being treated by his private physician and then having “the best” private physicians flown in from all over the country. After all, look - he’s already being treated with a trial drug that none of us would be able to just “get” as ordinary citizens if we developed COVID, so of course, they’re going to do whatever they want for his treatment. He will never see the normal hospital or have normal nurses or normal doctors. In fact, normal personnel don’t even have unrestricted access to the suite, which includes living and office space and a full intensive care unit just for him:
www.nbcwashington.com/news/coronavirus/trumps-suite-at-walter-reed-features-living-working-spaces-as-well-as-medical-facilities/2434490/

But in the event some actual military nurses or care attendants are allowed to be part of his healthcare team, I rank the likelihood at 0% that they take this opportunity to chastise him for what he’s done to military healthcare. They would immediately be removed from their post and lose their jobs, if they did.

user1481840227 · 03/10/2020 01:25

Hopefully he will have his eyes opened while there and won't be able to pretend he fixed something he hasn't.

However OP you are being silly to even contemplate the idea that the president of the united states will be left without a ventilator if needed or doctors or whatever he needs.
