I’ll see the funny side of this eventually but I did my first giveaway recently and the draw was yesterday. It was for adoption of a resident at a wildlife sanctuary local to me, was surprisingly popular (I thought it might not do very well). Video chatted with the winner and she was crying with happiness, it was so touching. I felt so happy that it meant such a great deal to her. Until she asked about how we would transport a raptor across Europe 🧐

Everyone thinks it’s hilarious because the wording was so explicit- winner chooses an animal who remains a resident of the sanctuary and receives an adoption certificate and photographs and regular updates and an open ticket to visit.

Super busy day today but please vote: YANBU this was unforeseeable or YABU obviously people would expect to win an actual Red Kite or whatever

When I was about 6/7 I was over the moon on Christmas morning when I learned I had ‘adopted’ a dolphin.

Imagine my surprise when I went out to check my parents pond and there was no Dolphin in there

I love this! My class (young primary) 'won' a donkey from the local donkey sanctuary in a competition a few years ago. The headteacher announced it in assembly. The children then spent playtime busily planning how to buid a stable in the playground for it and were trying to stockpile bits of their snack . They were slightly disappointed when I put them straight but easily appeased by helping to organise a trip to the donkey sanctuary to meet our donk.

You need to send him a screenshot of the giveaway, and highlight where it clearly sets out the situation.

Whoops. 😁 I think you made an assumption that everyone would understand but you didn't actually spell it out so I can see why someone unfamiliar with what adoption and sponsorship mean when referring to a sanctuary might think it is physically adopting.

I adopt a donkey. It always pains me that I can't actually have the donkey in my little back garden.

I hope you get the raptor weighed with the right postage put on him to get him to wherever he's going. And a couple of sandwiches packed in a lunchbox for him to munch on 😂🦖🦕

I’ve just signed adoption papers for a dog and, to be fair, when I travel to Cambridge to collect her tomorrow if she’s just a photograph I’m going to be pretty devastated too. But what goes around 😂

I’m saddened by the fact that Portuguese doesn’t have a direct translation for disgruntled. It should have been a disgruntled badger 🦡
