To think new laws are needed ASAP to protect Mrs Hinch and other influencers

Mrs Hinch has the number 1 best selling book at the moment where she goes into the heartbreaking trolling she received on tattle. They've been critical at everything from her weight, to her parenting and how her husband looks. It's virtually broken her at times and she felt like quiting the internet all together.

Why isn't this illegal today? Why do people think it's acceptable to give harrasment and hate speech because someone makes their money on social media. In no other workplace would this be accepted. Have people forgotten that Caroline Flack took her own life and nothing has changed :(

Yes, it certainly seems to pay them.

I have media links and it genuinely annoys me that I have friends who are qualified journalists currently fighting for their jobs as press print is no longer popular.

Then you get influencers who don't have a clue what they're doing (some, not all) attending "press days" and they're not members of the press, members of the NUJ or anything else....

I get that newsprint sales are falling, hence job cuts etc but bloggers and influencers have nothing to hold them to account. That's what annoys me.

One particular influencer local to me has a criminal record the length of her arm, yet gets all the freebies of the day to advertise... If she applied for a job among my former colleagues, her record would go against her.

If you put yourself and your daily life out there for all to see then you have to expect criticism and negative comments just as the "influencers" thrive and survive on there positive views for a living and bask in the popularity of followers.
If you don't want your life to be a circus for all then keep it private, otherwise take the rough with the smooth I'm afraid.
Of course those with hatred should keep quiet, but I don't think more laws are necessary or a useful avenue to direct already stretched police and judicial services.

@WitchQueenofDarkness

More I think that we need laws to protect the rest of us from "influencers"...

Exactly! Who is stupid enough to be 'influenced' by these self proclaimed nonentities? Who's the Hinch woman? That's a genuine question!

Tattle is a weird place - there's nearly 250 threads each with 50 pages on about Mrs Hinch. Some people are obsessed with her it's crazy. I actually can't believe they can get so worked up about someone they don't know - this isn't a normal thing to write about a baby that has nothing to do with you. Autism caused by cleaning fumes Hmm

Mrs Hinch is dangerous.
It works two ways.
Someone says 'oh I don't agree on xyz' they get called a troll. She will leave a comment, her hinchers will follow. She will delete her comment then let her hinchers finish them off. Plenty of times her weird little obsessed army have told people to kill themselves.

She never corrects what she does wrong and address it to her audience. And they're big mess ups that effect health.

Her book will be in Poundland or the charity shop in November. All the best.

I found out about Tattle from a similar thread to this, there is some bitching and some mean comments but what I found most interesting was the threads on influencer / vlogger families and though I'd not really given them much thought before was really shocked about the sometimes cruel and abusive behaviour towards their kids and the groomers & predators like Chris Ingham of the Ingham family who my neice followed as she liked their Christmas gift vlogs, I was so shocked to see what he had been up too and directed my sister in law to it to get my neice off of following them. The Ingham family had their fans mentally break two of the girls that were involved with Chris Ingham just absolute awful people.
There must be regulations for children in these family vlogs, they must also have money set aside for them in trust as the Channel earnings are rightly their earnings too but I think the parents just take it to fund their extravagant lives.
I've always watched out for my kids social media followings and followers. I make sure I tell them how whats portrayed is often not real.
Tattle does do a good job of holding some influencers to account for Ads and gifted posts which they often don't disclose.
There are mean people on there but there are mean people everywhere.
Mrs Hinch was a bit of a set up though wasn't she, she was signed to a PR before she even started on Instagram. It's very planned and fake, f she does not like the criticism she can ignore it or take herself off of social media.
I admire the people on YouTube that don't rely on their children to earn them money, that blur them out like Casey Neistat and just tell good stories.
The ones moaning are the ones with no real talent and they won't let their channels go because they are obsessed with the money.

If you want to be in the public eye you have to accept criticism. It’s not abuse, it’s opinions and they are legal. If influencers don’t like it there is a ‘cancel account‘ option.

Mrs hinch has cleaners to keep her show home as it is, she doesn’t do it herself she’s a fraud working as the face of the hinch brand. She doesn’t write her own books either. I know all of this as fact, not opinion, and she will likely know who I am if she reads this but never mind sometimes it needs to be said. Granted it’s great she has done well for herself, but it’s all based on lies and fooling people to get there and I don’t agree with it.

@Dinocan

They don’t have to look at tattle. It’s like going on some sort of fetish website then being upset that certain fetishes exist. You know they’re out there, you don’t have to look. Hinch is using tattle to create a story for her book be she can’t keep repeating cleaning tips, it’s done her a favour and she knows this full well. There is no other conceivable reason an intelligent person would read that sort of website about themselves. If people are receiving abuse and threats on their personal accounts where they can’t avoid seeing them that’s a bit different, but I’d still argue that it does come with the territory, much like the paparazzi for famous (plus I think there are laws already). They know this, they chose to make money that way.

Same could be said for the "delightful" people on tattle tho. If they don't like what these influencers are posting on their social media accounts, then why do they continue to watch them? Why do they continue to watch their stories and read their posts? Just so they can continue slating them on Tattle? If they don't like it, then why keep watching?

Tattle is a horrid place. Full of grown women bitching about other people. People they don't know. They don't know the affects their words have. They don't know if that "hilarious" insult they post will be the one that tips someone, already struggling, over the edge.

The Mrs Hinch threads are in no way only about her sales tactics and use of chemicals. They call her son autistic. They mock her appearance, her husband, her relationship. They say her son hates her and they even slate her dog!!

I would hate to have so little in my life that I felt the need to spend the day doing that to someone I don't know. It's really very sad

What laws do you suggest though?

The only thing I can see is that every social media account would need to be validated by ID and that we would all be responsible for what we say - so no more anonymity.

Totally agree. Regardless of whether you class it as trolling, there are many posters who have an unhealthy obsession with every move certain influencers make. Dissecting every picture they post and the minute detail of all their captions etc. while at the same time denouncing them as boring.
I once saw a thread where they were debating paying to access the land registry so they could see how much an influencer paid for their house and if her parents were on the deeds! Shock
Very weird.

We need many fewer censorship laws not more. If people get upset by things on social media just read books instead or go for a walk.

Because influencers control everything on their pages and all of the comments, this often leaves people frustrated when they can’t ask questions or voice their thoughts. I was in no way shocked when I found tattle but was surprised actually people have no intention of direct trolling influencers. Sending DM’s or leaving comments on their page is not really seen as funny or encouraged.

The influencers target audience is their following and their source of income, but they are also controlling their following not to question or doubt them publicly. This is such a toxic business and bad for everyone’s mental health. You are following a brand that has sucked you in by selling you someone relatable who you seem to think is your ‘friend’. They are not your friend. You are their customer. And in the real world you have consumer rights and protections. On Instagram you have none of this and can get scammed left right and centre. It’s ok for people to speak up about the dangers of this

@Sandyfeet101 this actually happened on the PTWM thread. Someone paid to find out who owned her house and posted the screenshots on Tattle

It's scary how obsessive these people are about strangers that they claim to hate!

There is one poster on the PTWM thread called Lucyinthesky88 who is completely and utterly deranged. She has hundreds upon hundreds of screenshots dating back years that she can pull out and post at the drop of a hat. She knows absolutely every detail about the full family. She was stalking distant families Facebook pages and taking screenshots of that too.

They also constantly contradict themselves and change what they feel is acceptable depending on what an influencer has posted. One example recently I saw was "she's a lazy bitch, she never does anything with her kids, she doesn't deserve to have them." Literally 2 days later the same influencer was out with her daughter and and this same poster posted "shes such a selfish cow, can't believe she's taken her kid in a day out in the middle of a pandemic" ....... which one are you actually annoyed about love? You don't seem to know yourself 😂

I can't wait till our research is finished and I never have to look at the site again. It's a horrid, negative, bitter place and I actually feel sorry for people who feel the need to post there

@roking The autism speculation on tattle was closed down pretty quickly as being unacceptable and the person who posted it apologised for it

Why don’t you get your facts straight?

The dog is grossly overweight and fed unhealthy non dog foods by her baby, very openly on Instagram every single day.

Surely she could just remove herself from the attention she seeks, it's not compulsory to put yourself up as a so called 'influencer' and anyway she can only 'influence' those who want to be influenced, personally I think its all cobblers and I do not need it
