To think new laws are needed ASAP to protect Mrs Hinch and other influencers

Mrs Hinch has the number 1 best selling book at the moment where she goes into the heartbreaking trolling she received on tattle. They've been critical at everything from her weight, to her parenting and how her husband looks. It's virtually broken her at times and she felt like quiting the internet all together.

Why isn't this illegal today? Why do people think it's acceptable to give harrasment and hate speech because someone makes their money on social media. In no other workplace would this be accepted. Have people forgotten that Caroline Flack took her own life and nothing has changed :(

Who are these people who keep pushing Mrs Hinch on here? It's transparently thin product placement.
Is it the same marketing agency that pushes saltwater sandals 🤣

ReeseWitherfork · 05/10/2020 10:55

Why the hell should she?
What, let bullies win?
Fuck. That.

Win what?

Woman posts about her life online, gets mean comments, doesn’t like it. Two options: 1. stop posting about your life online or 2. toughen up and take it/block it out.

There is not an option 3:

  1. Campaign to make “saying mean stuff” illegal

Exactly. If anything our libel laws are already too strict. Our ridiculous libel laws prevented people speaking out about Jimmy Saville and Robert Maxwell just to name a couple of the worst cases. We certainly don't need a law to prevent people saying "mean" things i.e. expressing an opinion the complainant doesn't like - that would be diabolical.

given that she has bullied others and set her fans on them, she would also fall fowl of this law, if it were to be brought in.

Quaagars · 05/10/2020 17:42

given that she has bullied others

What has she said?
As I've never seen any comments from her that bully others.
Calling out trolls, yes, but never any bullying comments.

FrippEnos · 05/10/2020 18:43

Quaagars

Its all upthread.

CBA to go over it again.

Quaagars · 05/10/2020 19:35

@Gothicashoker

Considering the 'trolling' was not actually done to get but was spoken about in a private group hoch she should have never seen. The way she reacted was way worse, she sent her hinch army after one poor lass. This poor young girl received thousands of death threats against her and her children! No I do not believe we should give laws, comes with wanting to be famous I'm afraid!!
What, you mean like this quote? Is this what you're referring to when you say mentioned up thread and CBA to go over again? Because if that's what you mean it's a half arsed attempt of what really happened She called out trolls, yes, people who as a result sent hate is disgusting, how do you expect someone to get people to stop sending shit to people though? Trolls gonna troll, you think a please stop will work? Naive. Oh and it was in a private group we were all bitching, she wasn't supposed to see! Err, you're on the internet so hardly private and well if she can't see that makes it all alright then! Hmm
FrippEnos · 06/10/2020 07:22

Quaagars

No where in what you have quoted would be considered bullying.

So no.

As for the rest, much of it is extrapolation on someone that you do not know.

Pomegranatespompom · 06/10/2020 09:25

Influencers will be irritated if they are ignored imo I am hoping to steer my DC away from this nonsense as much as possible.

Agree with pp, some influencers and followers are awful if anyone posts a different opinion ie that awful midwife, can't remember the name but there was a furore last year about her behaviour.

I used to follow DMBL40 on insta (I liked seeing her clothes) but stopped once she starting flogging Flora.

standupsitdownturnaround · 06/10/2020 12:02

Here is a BBC news piece about this topic. It's not directly about Mrs. Hinch though.

www.google.co.uk/amp/s/www.bbc.co.uk/news/amp/uk-54421632

I mentioned upthread that Sali Hughes has got a BBC radio 4 documentary about trolling. It's on tonight at 8pm.

She does not mention Tattle which i get because she probably doesn't want to drive traffic there but I wish she would so people could have a look.

I am a bit torn about what I think. Must be horrible having a thread on Tattle but there is an element of cranking it up and painting gossip as something really sinister.

The threads don't seem that bad to me but I wouldn't like them to exist about me!

My benchmark is: has the person being gossiped about said anything in a similar vein about other people on their public platform. I think that's quite a fair standard to hold someone to.

Who is Mrs Hinch talking about in those tweets? Dreadful language! I'm not familiar with her at all but because of this thread I looked her up and, though you cannot judge someone by appearances, she did look very nice indeed. I can't imagine the C-word coming out her mouth! I suppose everyone has a breaking point, poor woman.

A: Those messages are talking about what she's done, utterly vile person, you're deluded @jesstan1

Who gives a fuck about words when her actions scream like this HmmConfusedAngry

SchrodingersImmigrant · 10/10/2020 09:10

It's only us ugly people who use it😂

jessstan1 · 10/10/2020 12:27

:-)

Well I obviously got the wrong end of the stick but I knew nothing about the woman. It proves my point that someone can look 'nice' and be horrible!

TurquoiseDress · 10/10/2020 12:38

I had no idea who this woman was so I googled her and know a bit more.

Don't do Instagram or Twitter, barely use FB anymore.

Sort of get it with influencers and what they do...but putting yourself out there & your kids too (the midwife with 4 daughters can't remember her name) I'm hardly surprised if they get negative comments too.

There's a lot of jealousy & envy out there.

Maybe I'd get more into social media if I didn't work full time, but also I don't have a job which involves SM so spending vast swathes of my life on it seems odd

Blacklampshades · 28/04/2021 14:00

@Babbas so agree with this! Anna is the biggest con artist there is with her live in nanny, cleaner etc
Just pretends to struggle so she can sell books
How much self care does one need if you’re that privileged

Devlesko · 28/04/2021 14:16

Well a book deal, and all the money she's raking in it's part of the territory.
We could all be influencers if we wanted to be, but don't as we don't want our personal life commenting on by internet trollies.
She knows what she's doing. lol.

Is it International Ressurect An Old Thread Day or something??! GrinGrinGrin

Blacklampshades · 28/04/2021 14:18

@Devlesko also her limiting comments means screening to make sure no one exposes her on her perfect insta page 😒

Blacklampshades · 28/04/2021 14:19

@WaltzesWithSnobs 😂

HermioneWeasley · 28/04/2021 14:22

If making mean comments about people becomes illegal both my kids will be in jail permanently as they constantly call each other “idiot” and “smelly”

BuyYourOwnBBQGlenda · 28/04/2021 14:32

Eh, if she doesn't like it maybe she should get a real job instead of taking photos of her dull grey house and trying to whip women up into a frenzy about bloody cleaning.

Also sick of this Caroline Flack stuff being trotted out and wonder what the reaction would've been to a man who dated teen girls when he was 39 or beat a partner round the head and admitted it.

This social media stuff is so narcissistic and icky.

I don't follow any of them really, apart from a skincare youtuber, but not what you'd call a young influencer.
I suppose it's what happens when they become so involved and involve their family too.
