To think new laws are needed ASAP to protect Mrs Hinch and other influencers

Mrs Hinch has the number 1 best selling book at the moment where she goes into the heartbreaking trolling she received on tattle. They've been critical at everything from her weight, to her parenting and how her husband looks. It's virtually broken her at times and she felt like quiting the internet all together.

Why isn't this illegal today? Why do people think it's acceptable to give harrasment and hate speech because someone makes their money on social media. In no other workplace would this be accepted. Have people forgotten that Caroline Flack took her own life and nothing has changed :(

Oh interesting. I love tattle.

Bozlem80 · 02/10/2020 18:12

Mrs Hinch does not like criticism, she is called out over things & instead of owning up she cries Troll, she has done dangerous things for example the flowers on the hob, boiling water in a glass jar with zoflora, pictures of her child in the bath, letting her child feed the dog, the list goes on.

Personally I’ve never followed her, I’ve watched her stories & I can understand why she would make young, impressionable mums feel like absolute shit with her perfect family, home & lifestyle!

FluffyPaws · 02/10/2020 18:17

Don’t be silly they put themselves out there..they get handsomely paid..And it’s like all jobs in the media no matter what you do it’s open season on your life so you have to be prepared to take the highs with the lows. And if you can’t do that .lThen get out of the kitchen as they say ..leave dodge 🤣

Ihatefish · 02/10/2020 18:21

I thought I’d have a look at Mrs Hinchs Instagram -does the alleged trolling basically say Mrs Hinch -whats the point? Seriously why does anyone want to look at pictures of someone’s staged house, precariously balanced baby and how to dust. The net seems to have massively increased people’s waistline whilst simultaneously shrunk brains.

orchidsonabudget · 02/10/2020 18:22

What is tattle?

SchrodingersImmigrant · 02/10/2020 18:23

I had a look couple of days ago and there was not much cleaning being done tbh. I guess once you reach a certain income, 1 thing being cleaned split into 6 vids is simply enough in between the ads.

Re Jack. She moaned she would need to sell a million books or smth like that to be able to buy a house and how it sucks. Mate. Really? 🙄

Jojobar · 02/10/2020 18:28

She's such a nice person...yes that's why she publicly took the piss out of someone else's appearance.

Funnily enough, when anyone comments in any way other than positively on how she looks, she cries troll...

Buffs · 02/10/2020 18:28

Her choice.
I wish I could protect my children from influencers

MrsShelton · 02/10/2020 18:34

pimping out there kids and compromising their safety is akin to abuse in my opinion

worst for this is charlotte louise taylor...(charltaylor).10 ads using her kids in about 5 weeks! i am horrified by this

DagenhamRoundhouse · 02/10/2020 18:40

I'd never even heard of Tattle until today!

Julz1622 · 02/10/2020 18:42

Sorry, I got bored just reading your post. I really don't give a hoot about influencers. If you put your whole life online prepare to get some critisicm.

bossyrossy · 02/10/2020 18:44

Never heard of her.

FelicisNox · 02/10/2020 18:49

I agree with @SachaStark and although I do heartily agree there is a line you don't cross, Mrs Hinch and her army of sycophantic aggressive followers and admins need reigning in IMO.

What about the damage these influencers and their cronies do to some of their followers, are you outraged about that?

I used to follow their Facebook page but was banned because I had the audacity to try and post a comment that read: "the Shark hoover is excellent but please be mindful of the weight because at 22kg it is really heavy and the weight is not displayed on the UK page, only on their European page. This may not be suitable for anyone with back issues."

First the admins refused to approve the post (I assume because it was negative comment in a sea of positives and they are being paid to plug certain products despite swearing blind they are not paid to endorse) and when I managed to post it anyway on a question someone else asked about weight the admin pitched a fit. I then answered someone else's comment complaining about Hinchers bulk buying which meant others couldn't get hold of sought after products (pre pandemic) agreeing with her and wondering why this behaviour was encouraged by the site when I then recieved some VERY nasty comments from the same admin and was banned before I could respond.

The admins are bullies drunk on their own little piece of power. I was by no means the only person they treated like this: I saw a LOT of this type of behaviour and the damage THEY did was clear to me.

I've never been so glad to be banned from anywhere in my life. Easily some of the worst online bullying I've encountered. I got off lightly.

CorianderLord · 02/10/2020 18:55

Journalists are abused every day. Rape threats, death threats, abuse, slamming their skills.

Sadly it's very difficult to prosecute faceless internet posters.

ChristmasCarcass · 02/10/2020 19:10

Oh wow, Mrs Hinch wrote a number one bestselling book? So did this guy. Oh hang on, no, he just took a photo of his foot and uploaded it, and it still made the “Amazon best-seller” list. The Amazon best seller list is notorious for bearing no relationship to copies sold.

She only has 46 reviews. In contrast, the average stapler on there has thousands of reviews. So I doubt she has sold many copies in reality.

kozoey · 02/10/2020 19:12

Tot

toconclude · 02/10/2020 19:13

@vkocy Well, someone on this thread is certainly embarrassing themselves. Hint: find a reflective surface.

DrJackDaniels · 02/10/2020 19:14

Urgg this again. Lydia Elise Millen is one of the worst for complaining about all the trolling and mean comments when 99% of the time, it’s people calling her out on all her lies, failure to disclose adverts, rude behaviour, her verbally abusing her hairdresser, or many are simply asking valid questions and she claps back with the rudest replies!! There are literally thousands of sycophantic comments on her YT and insta, gushing and full or adoration, all of which she never acknowledges, yet complains that a small handful of people want her to be transparent and accountable in her job. She earns millions of pounds from her ‘stressful’ job too yet complains continuously.
If someone receives death threats that is totally wrong and would be dealt with by the police. But if they don’t want to read things about them, they should take their own advice and not read tattle or other sites - just like when a viewer complains about them they tell them to not sub or follow.

Surely these influencers know if they put themselves out there online and share their lives, they’re open to criticism. It’s not always right at all, but if it’s that bad, close your insta, Twitter and turn comments off your TB!

minipie · 02/10/2020 19:16

influencers are directly responsible, through the selling of their fake perfect lives, for the poor mental health of many young people. I have no time for them.

This. And I would add that any online commentary which bursts the myth of the seemingly perfect lives and raises awareness of the filters, staging, backhanders etc is actually helpful.

Threats and insults are vile and unnecessary but criticism of the influencer’s feed I am all for.

kozoey · 02/10/2020 19:17

Totally agree with the PP that I've read far worse on Mumsnet than I've ever read on tattle. Some posters here are being a bit disingenuous about what is on tattle and painting a picture that isn't true at all. Yes people were talking about who owns ptwm s house so out of context that looks dodgy. But people are interested in who owns it because she crowd funded to try to buy it and has been getting people's cash donations that went missing. They're not doing it to be creepy rather more because of the dodgy crowdfunding she's done which I think is valid. People on insta/YouTube are always doing the same and talking about a half truth to mislead followers. They hate tattle because all the receipts are there.

Wheresthesense · 02/10/2020 19:37

Tattle life is basically the adult version of playgroumd bullying. Defend it all you like as 'constructive criticism' but its just a load of people ganging up and being awful about whoever they've set their sights on.

Ihatefish · 02/10/2020 19:37

Is anyone actually influenced by influencers though. Surely they just look at the picture/clip and go well that obviously photoshopped and airbrushed to death, quite clearly no one has ever walked on that carpet/sat on that chair. Who the fuck would wear that to walk their dog (probably rented the dog). They’re obviously paid to say that product is good. Why so many pictures of their kids when they’re too young to consent and for lots of influencers. I wish someone would give the poor woman some clothes as they seem to spend a lot of time in their underwear and their phone has accidentally been dropped taking an upward angle to make their legs Longer and boobs bigger. Or do some people see something different?

Ravenesque · 02/10/2020 19:48

I'm confused about the no.1 bestseller. The bestseller list week starting 27th September - so this week - has the Hinch book at no.7. That's the non-fiction list so not sure what the every-book-on-the-site list is, but I'm pretty sure that by being no.7 in one list it would be sort of impossible to be no.1 in an every-book-on-the-site list.

Of course, it doesn't really matter. Her book is selling loads so she's getting money from it and whether she's no.1 or no.7 her book is obviously popular. Probably pure shit and poor me, but popular.

As for Tattle Life being like school playground bullying, it isn't though is it? It's talking about someone behind someone's back and then doing nothing else about it but enjoying bitch talking about someone with other people who don't like them.

Blah, blah, influencers are - mostly - fucking pointless and sometimes positively dangerous and nasty. Mrs Hinch is a twatty little princess. Blah, blah.

pollypork · 02/10/2020 19:53

Is anyone actually influenced by influencers though.

Unfortunately people are & then there are the lower tiered influencers who get influenced to be noticed, bit of a pyramid scheme really.

Ravenesque · 02/10/2020 19:54

I shall now do a bit of influencer shit.

Going onto sites like Apartment Therapy and loads of others that I can't remember the names of that have articles about cleaning and shit, I got converted to bicarbonate of soda and white vinegar as cleaning products and I am a convert. Cleans well, not full of the usual add-on chemicals that you get in cleaners that some people like to influencer about and one or the other or both together clean really well. I used white vinegar a lot and the smell is not as bad as you'd think. I put both together for floor mopping with added lavender oil for a pretty scent. It's easy to buy - Wilkos have started selling environmentally not quite so friendly spray bottles of white vinegar - and it's cheaper than chemical-heavy shit that is supported by Mrs Hinch.

Be influenced by me and I will receive precisely nothing!
