To think new laws are needed ASAP to protect Mrs Hinch and other influencers

Mrs Hinch has the number 1 best selling book at the moment where she goes into the heartbreaking trolling she received on tattle. They've been critical at everything from her weight, to her parenting and how her husband looks. It's virtually broken her at times and she felt like quiting the internet all together.

Why isn't this illegal today? Why do people think it's acceptable to give harrasment and hate speech because someone makes their money on social media. In no other workplace would this be accepted. Have people forgotten that Caroline Flack took her own life and nothing has changed :(

Fuck me, do people not read proper books anymore ? A best seller about using zoflora and hoovering stripes into the carpet? Extraordinary.

Menora · 02/10/2020 08:10

This just means that for the past few days it’s the most sold book on Amazon. It’s a new release so this happens to all new releases.

It’s not the no1 bestseller anywhere else and that doesn’t mean it will be the no1 best seller this year or the decade. No 1 bestseller currently. Not of all time, not of all memoirs, not of all books ever made.

notso · 02/10/2020 08:11

Mrs Hinch can't really complain too much about negativity when she is happy to set her 'army' on people she takes a dislike too.
Gemma Bray was subject to loads of abuse from Hinch fans after she commented about it being dangerous to mix chemicals she didn't even mention MrsH but it coincided with something she posted and AFAIK Sophie Hinchliffe did nothing to stop it despite Gemma Bray trying to contact her about it.

terrywynne · 02/10/2020 08:16

@SavoyCabbage

I've looked on four lists now and it's not the best selling book on any non-fiction chart, including Amazon which the OP says it is. Confused
To be fair she is right now (when I checked) the number 1 bestseller in the 'books' category which is one of the large categories - if you go to the book page it says near the top. However Amazon 'bestsellers' fluctuate during the day as sales come and go.

Most of the time the Amazon number #1 bestseller tag is bullshit and based on performance in a tiny category. These days I tend to assume that anyone who uses the gold badge on their website/book cover has played they system.

This is a good example of how little it actually means: www.google.com/amp/s/observer.com/2016/02/behind-the-scam-what-does-it-takes-to-be-a-bestselling-author-3-and-5-minutes/amp/

3.4 out of 5 stars (29)Reviews

Is that good?
@roking The autism speculation on tattle was closed down pretty quickly as being unacceptable and the person who posted it apologised for it

Why don’t you get your facts straight?

The dog is grossly overweight and fed unhealthy non dog foods by her baby, very openly on Instagram every single day.
Can I just ask why you watch her @Menora?

You're embarrassing yourself now. I said it was the #1 selling book on Amazon and it is at the moment. I didn't say it was the best selling book ever.

Her last autobiography was #5 out of all of the books released in 2019 so it's probably going to top all the charts when they're out next week.

Not all new books go to #1 on Amazon, she isn't #1 of an obscure catcagory but #1 on books.

You know there's a very easy way for Mrs Hinch to stop the trolling? Stop posting every aspect of her life on social media and delete her account. Voila

Namechange313 · 02/10/2020 08:21

Perhaps if it’s taking such a toll on their mental health, these influencers could just, you know, come off social media? But no that would mean they wouldn’t be getting the attention they crave.

I have seen Mrs Hinch threads on Tattle, and a lot of what Mrs Hinch talks about with regards to trolling is totally fabricated. People on there do not attack her for being fat like she says they do, they don’t say she has ugly veins in her hands etc I was surprised when I heard about the accusations she was making.
She talks about a really bad panic attack last Christmas due to some comments she read, at this point wouldn’t you just decide enough was enough and your sanity was more important? I do think a lot of them play the whole “woe is me act”

I agree, but Mrs Hinch is #1 out of all books not some silly category. This is noteworthy so I'm not sure why people are trying to downplay her achievement

@vkocy why do you care so much about the bloody book?! It's weird to be so invested.

Menora · 02/10/2020 08:26

@rumandbiscuits

I don’t watch her anymore I unfollowed during the pandemic. She made me feel really inadequate over time. I work full time as a single mum and could never do half the things she does, my garden will never look half as good, I can’t go on the types of holidays she does and some of the stuff she gets for free I just found really tasteless when she is so well off. I think the pandemic made a lot of people see things in a new light, she never addressed how anyone was managing except post trite inspirational messages to her followers whilst getting another thing built for free in her house/garden.

I have looked at tattle recently because her book was coming out and it’s not a surprise to me that influencers are still saying everyone else has to change but they don’t have to do anything different 🙄

I would like stricter rules around their advertising, she isn’t the worst one by far just just the richest one. Influencing culture is damaging people

Pomegranatespompom · 02/10/2020 08:28

Mrs H on virgin radio this morning. This is all just part of a media campaign 🙄
I’m amazed anyone is interested in this nonsense- a cleaner influencer!

Tappering · 02/10/2020 08:28

Mrs Hunch has come in for some tough criticism, some of it very personal on thing like her appearance - which is unfair and unwarranted.

However she has been very quiet about the fact that she had a stellar track record in sales prior to becoming an influencer - evidence was all over LinkedIn before it was wiped by her management team. So the "just a normal girl next door" routine was a load of BS because she knew exactly how to market herself.

Likewise she's kept it quiet that actually she wasn't a cleaning addict. Again, there was evidence of her asking about zoflora and cleaning tips etc in Facebook groups before she became an influencer.

She refuses to consider any criticism of the amount of chemicals she uses, despite some of the combinations being toxic and very dangerous. Zoflora is poisonous to animals if not diluted correctly, but she keeps quiet about that. No acknowledgment of the fact that encouraging people to post photos of "hauls" is unethical and unnecessary when many of her followers are open about the fact that money is tight and they are struggling to afford to bulk buy 30 bottles of Zoflora at a time. Likewise the number of adverts that she posts which are not signposted - which is a breach of ASA rules.

Finally, when other influencers have posted concerns about mixing chemicals Mrs Hinch has sat back and watched her followers pile-on to that person and done nothing. So her complaints about being bullied are bloody hypocritical when she's tacitly encouraged her mob to do the same by going after people she doesn't like.

All of the receipts for this are on Tattle. And that's why Mrs Hinch doesn't like it - because she can't delete and airbrush inconvenient truths away.

I couldn't give a shit if she enjoys cleaning and someone wants to watch a video of her scrubbing a bathroom. It does annoy me when that person is a rank hypocrite.

Newschapter · 02/10/2020 08:28

If that pile of shite tops the charts then I truly will lose my faith in humanity.

People don't need someone who can't pronounce "th" right to be influencing them! (Fanks)

I am still baffled that at 30 she has a memwah..... Is she done with life now then?

Fedupoftheworld · 02/10/2020 08:29

Anyway Mrs Hinch posts comments from Facebook onto her insta account for people to bully. Then deletes it when there’s backlash so she can’t cry about trolling when she’s one herself?
Someone went as far to wish someone’s children’s dead only last year because of Mrs Hinch.

What a joke you calling another poster an embarrassment when you keep starting these ridiculous threads that only demonstrate that you have no understanding of the law

Menora · 02/10/2020 08:31

I don’t have an issue with her having a book of buying a book about her life, if it’s doing well then she’s had a lot of help to get there. It’s very niche, mainly U.K. and it will make her some money but it isn’t going to be the next Michelle Obama autobiography so I think wailing about it being a No1 best seller in the amazon book charts to try to make some kind of pointless point is wasting your time and everyone else’s.

People want the book to put on their coffee table along with her other grey matching books. It’s an ornament

loobyloo1234 · 02/10/2020 08:32

I don’t watch her anymore I unfollowed during the pandemic. She made me feel really inadequate over time

What people have to remember is she isnt out at work all day. She can afford people to come in and look after her child whilst she 'cleans' - also she lives in a new build. I wish she would move to a hundred year old house with nooks and crannies in every corner and show us how to 'clean' - its all smoke and mirrors. So never compare yourself to her Smile

Marisishidinginmyattic · 02/10/2020 08:32
@Sandyfeet101 this actually happened on the PTWM thread. Someone paid to find out who owned her house and posted the screenshots on Tattle

It's scary how obsessive these people are about strangers that they claim to hate!

There is one poster on the PTWM thread called Lucyinthesky88 who is completely and utterly deranged. She has hundreds upon hundreds of screenshots dating back years that she can pull out and post at the drop of a hat. She knows absolutely every detail about the full family. She was stalking distant families Facebook pages and taking screenshots of that too.

They also constantly contradict themselves and change what they feel is acceptable depending on what an influencer has posted. One example recently I saw was "she's a lazy bitch, she never does anything with her kids, she doesn't deserve to have them." Literally 2 days later the same influencer was out with her daughter and and this same poster posted "shes such a selfish cow, can't believe she's taken her kid in a day out in the middle of a pandemic" ....... which one are you actually annoyed about love? You don't seem to know yourself 😂

I can't wait till our research is finished and I never have to look at the site again. It's a horrid, negative, bitter place and I actually feel sorry for people who feel the need to post there
This was the type of behaviour that made me see sense and stop going on there so much. It’s one thing pointing out genuine problems with influencers (eg. scamming people, faking illness to get money etc) but it’s the nitpicking at every tiny detail that gets a bit silly and weird and then how contradictory they are. The last time I was on there, an influencer/youtuber I like was being shredded because she never did anything with her children and only used them for adverts. Not long after she took them on a holiday to a cute little village and shared vids/pics. Then she was shredded for taking them out during coronavirus to a village that surely doesn’t want tourists and how dare she. She can’t win and she’s not even one of the people that’s done anything controversial.

I do think most of tattle (again, beyond the more factual exposing of scams etc) is jealousy. Every single person posting on there would give their arm and a leg to be making money easily online the way the people they slag off do.

LastGoldenDaysOfSummer · 02/10/2020 08:34

Influencers are utterly pointless. They make money pretending to use stuff and the manufacturers pay them a lot of money.

There is no job more useless and I can't get upset about this when there is genuine trolling of JKR going on.

Get out of the kitchen if the heat is too much. Or get a proper job.

Catsup · 02/10/2020 08:35

What law would it be exactly? 'If you can't say anything nice, don't say anything at all, Act 2020', or the 'Don't throw your opinion out onto social media, and into the public forum for open debate if you don't like the answers, Act 2020'? 🙄.

TheFairyCaravan · 02/10/2020 08:37

@vkocy

She is the number one book on Amazon and has been for the last two days.

She's not number one on last week's charts because it only came out yesterday. It's really not difficult

Having the number 1 selling book on Amazon just goes to show that there needs to be tighter laws to protect the public from fake liars like Mrs Hinch. She's sucked in so many naive people with her lies and pretence on Instagram that's all. It's a crying shame that more women have lined her pockets yet again.

The truth will come out in the end because it always does. She'll blame the trolls though won't she? It won't be her fault for lying.

Menora · 02/10/2020 08:38

I feel scammed and I don’t want other people to get scammed. Some of the younger love island types are constantly posting scams! The other day a poster said she had bought something on a swipe up for her baby with a discount code and it was a scam. She couldn’t afford to lose the money on this item but had really wanted it. Will anything happen to this influencer? No!

Ponoka7 · 02/10/2020 08:39

@loobyloo1234

"you know there's a very easy way for Mrs Hinch to stop the trolling? Stop posting every aspect of her life on social media and delete her account. Voila"

I don't understand why people want to be 'influenced' by influencers, who, to me usually have a range of, mental health issues, neediness, extreme shallowness, a wasted life etc going on.

However the above is victim blaming. This has become a valid way to make a living and you shouldn't have to close down your source of income because of the hatred of other people.

I don't go on any of these sites, but if it is just criticism of mixing chemicals, bad pet/child ownership, comments about how/what they're peddling shouldn't matter etc, then that perfectly fine.

My Son in Law and a lot of his friends took an interest in Mrs Hinch purely based on her looks and she knows that. That causes a level of jealousy. There's a downside to opening yourself up to scrutiny, that you either accept or don't start to begin with.

The only thing we need is tougher laws on insults based on sex.
