Women are very powerful beings

Hi. I am really into spirituality, and I read a lot of spiritual books. Many of these books say the same thing.

That the general reason why men are so abusive to women in this generation, is because women are in fact far, far more powerful than men, and men are afraid of how powerful women are.

This is why men spend a lot of time trying to make women feel inferior, and to forget their own power.

Men have implemented many tricks to make women forget their power by

  1. Starting religions which told women that they were inferior,
  2. Making science very dominant and male energy-based, making women forget their important spiritual powers and powers of intuition
  3. By disrespecting childbirth.
  4. by shaming menstruation, telling women it is dirty, when actually menstruation is a very important spiritual, physical and mental time for women.
  5. By degrading women in porn
  6. By keeping women out of politics.
  7. by shaming women if they do not have children. So that most women still focus primarily on child rearing.

Men have done all these things to make women forget who you really are: you are incredibly powerful beings.

Remember how powerful you are as a woman, and all of those systems of abuse will begin to change.
When one woman remembers how powerful she is, it will help all women to be freer in the future.

This is a load of bullshit, as are all the spiritual books you read.

OlympicProcrastinator · 01/10/2020 09:19

The "nice" "liberal" "choicey-choice" middle classes have no idea how the lower classes live and have betrayed lower class women at every turn

Amen to that!

honeylulu · 01/10/2020 09:20

Sorry just re-reading 0P and realise she uses similar examples but calls them men's "tricks". I don't think they are tricks, they are powerful tools!

If women are so powerful why on earth would they fall for being oppressed by mere "tricks" , and remain oppressed once aware of them???

FjordFiestas · 01/10/2020 09:21

Yes, YABU. I read as far as "That the general reason why men are so abusive to women in this generation, is because women are in fact far, far more powerful than men, and men are afraid of how powerful women are".
Men are not "so abusive to women in this generation". In fact, this generation is the least abusive men have ever been to women. Not to mention, 40% of domestic abuse victims are men (and they have far less support). Let's not even touch on the fact men are more likely to be murdered, mugged, assaulted and/or attacked than women.
Part of promoting women's rights and seeking equality is acknowledging genuine truth, not just random drivel that you read once or made up. It's also about acknowledging the journey so far. Women today do not have it worse than women in previous generations and it's insulting to the women who fought for the freedoms women have today that you think you have it worse.

OlympicProcrastinator · 01/10/2020 09:22

Are you serious? Mumsnet is full of women always 'bursting into tears' and 'having a little cry

And you perceive that as weak? Maybe it’ the reason we aren’t killing our selves at the same rate as men.

Men are not routinely murdered by their female partners.

Please also remember that domestic violence experienced by men will not always be carried out by women but also by men as there can also be violence in same sex relationships.

DifficultPifcultLemonDifficult · 01/10/2020 09:29

I think you're romantisising the reasoning for centuries of oppression.

White heterosexual men have done what they have done for years because they can, and they have got away with it. It's as simple as that.

formerbabe · 01/10/2020 09:31

Men exploit and capitalise on their physical power but power and strength come in many forms...unfortunately the patriarchy is proof that physical power wins

NiceLegsShameAboutTheFace · 01/10/2020 09:32

Menstruation is just a pain in the arse.

I'd see your doctor .....

Statistically speaking, lesbian relationships have the highest rate of abuse but you don't seem like you're a fan of facts. Women are not "routinely murdered" by their male partners. You need to look up what "routinely" means.
Hazelnutlatteplease · 01/10/2020 09:44

i really dont find "menstruation", "a very important spiritual, physical and mental time for women". I cry and fall apart and generally am a horrible miserable human being.

So glad my contraception stops it.

corythatwas · 01/10/2020 09:45

This whole "women are spiritual goddesses with mysterious powers" is also part of the patriarchal oppression arsenal. If someone is an earth mother with special contacts with the spiritual side- they might not be your first choice for company director.

It's the old "goddess-whore" thing- the point being that neither a goddess nor a "whore" (in a misogynistic take) is perceived as an ordinary, mundane, equal person on the same lines as the rest of you.

Men who put women on a pedestal and men who treat them like dirt have one thing in common: they do not want to think of women as workmates and companions. In fact, they are very often the same men. Large overlap with this Venn diagram.

Hazelnutlatteplease · 01/10/2020 09:49

You need to read better books

Iamthewombat · 01/10/2020 09:52

Making science very dominant and male energy-based, making women forget their important spiritual powers and powers of intuition

Yeah, the bastards, with their science and logic. Shouldn’t be allowed. Up yours, Ada Lovelace, Marie Curie and Vera Rubin. Traitors to your gender.

Hazelnutlatteplease · 01/10/2020 09:52

Are women not scientific? Can they only be spiritual?

Seems you have found another quasi religion that seeks to limit female spheres of influence

Spiritual power... menstruation... what? 🤦🏼‍♀️

No. Just no. Woo bollocks 🤦🏼‍♀️

You don’t seem to be fan of facts eather.
Majority of perpetrator in those cases were men.

They put bi-sexuals (who suffer domestic violence most) and lesbians in the same statistic.

Domestic violence can mean family members, not just partners.

Lesbians suffers least amount of violence (by intimate partner).

No, that's not true. You're wrong. You cannot have a bisexual couple - that does not exist. A person can be bisexual but a couple cannot. Unless, in theory one partner is gender fluid? Maybe... The statistics are based on heterosexual couple (man and woman), gay couple (man and man) and lesbian couple (woman and woman). Who do you think would make up a "bisexual couple"? Even if both women in a relationship together are bisexual, they are in a lesbian couple. If a bisexual woman and a bisexual man form a relationship then they're in a heterosexual relationship. The relationship sexuality does not necessarily align with the sexuality of the individual.
WellThisWentWell · 01/10/2020 10:10

@FjordFiestas

What are you on about?
Bisexual women,
who are in a relationship with a man are statistically most likely to suffer domestic/ intimate relationship violence.

Statistically, factually - based on the actual numbers. A relationship formed of two women is more likely to have domestic violence than a relationship between a man and a woman or a relationship between two men.
I have no idea whether it's true that bisexual women are more likely to be abused by male partners or not. Could you provide a source for that? It's very likely we could both be correct as what you're saying and what I'm saying do not contradict each other.

So true. And exaggerated shaking.

Also, menstruation is painful and a pain. Bollocks to it being spiritual.
