To think corporate wardrobe is over

Just that really. I don't see office attire ever coming back after covid.

Mine won't fit me Grin

letmethinkaboutitfornow · 27/09/2020 20:31

Disagree. I wear it while WFH. It’s professional.

letmethinkaboutitfornow · 27/09/2020 20:32

(Bar heels, no shoes in the house rule overrides the fully professional attire)

LordEmsworth · 27/09/2020 20:33

I dress up to WFH. It makes a massive difference to my mood and my enthusiasm for work. YABU to think that everyone has to have the same attitude as you...

CoRhona · 27/09/2020 20:33

I'm back in the office so YABU...can't wear leggings and comfy top there!

Igotthemheavyboobs · 27/09/2020 20:34

I work for one of the big 4 firms and we haven't had to wear office wear for about a year unless meeting with clients.

Our main offices are closed to guests, we have a floor dedicated to meeting rooms and that is as far as they ever go (also pre-covid)

There is no need to be uncomfortable to sit at a desk all day.

So Yanbu op!

You wear office attire at home? While working? That's some dedication!

I only dress up for my tops and wear leggings or jeans.

I agree. It was heading this way already - this has accelerated the process.
EveryDayIsADuvetDay · 27/09/2020 20:37

I'm definitely dressing more casually - we have a temporary office that I can walk to, I'm usually the only person using it. Someone else was in the other day, and I thought about changing out of my jeans, but didn't bother. The other person in had switched from their normal three piece suit and tie to jeans.
Some days I wear "office clothes" - others jeans and t-shirts.

carlywurky · 27/09/2020 20:38

I'm back in the office - in sweatshirt and jeans most days. Noticed a shift from jigsaw and Hobbs style clothes to hush on most women.

I need to have a good cull - there are some things I'm never likely to wear again now we've gone to a relaxed dress code.

Frappuccinofan · 27/09/2020 20:39

Plenty of people are still working at their offices and dressed in appropriate attire though

TigerDroveAgain · 27/09/2020 20:39

Well, you can only see my head and neck on zoom calls...

I do wear perfume for zoom meetings, though

julietmanchester · 27/09/2020 20:41

I still wear perfume as well. It's more for myself!

It had been fading out for years. When I started work 14 yrs ago there was still very much a suit/shirt culture, through my career it has continually relaxed.

People do still try to look smart when necessary, but there's no specific "work" clothes, I would just wear a tidy dress or trousers and a top, I definitely don't wear the double cuff shirts requiring ironing that I did at one stage.

julietmanchester · 27/09/2020 20:43

I'm starting to wonder if anyone would care if I wear gorgeous floral dresses I save for date night for zoom meetings? I feel I can be more creative for meetings now, haven't tried working in my flowy dresses.

As it is getting colder, I am getting more formal in my attire, towards work wear, at least from waist up for video calls. I am now bored with looking casual and like to wear more formal wear on my video calls and when I go into the office. On my commute and walking to my office (City of London), there are noticeably people who are dressing like normal pre-COVID for work. I am enjoying looking smart again with pearls and heels sometimes.

AriettyHomily · 27/09/2020 20:45

I was in M&S today and said to DH that I can't imagine ever wearing that kind of corporate workwear ever again. There's was so much of it.

I dress smartly but not in full on suit or shift dress for WFH.

julietmanchester · 27/09/2020 20:46

@blueshoes I have noticed people on the streets dressing a bit more proper, but not to the degree it was pre covid.

I bloody love getting dressed up to go to work! Puts me in work mode!

julietmanchester · 27/09/2020 20:48

@AriettyHomily

As nice as it can look, jackets are uncomfortable for me, and I loathe heels. I hope we can stay casual somewhat. It saves money, too.

I have a colleague who wears her suit jacket and lanyard on calls. She may well be naked below the waist but somehow I don’t think so...

DiscombobulatedAf · 27/09/2020 20:49

I would honestly rather die than wear office clothes at home. Thankfully my company allows smart casual in the office anyway. I’m loving wearing comfy and cosy clothes whilst working from home. You’ll have to pry my leggings and dressing gown from my cold dead hands

letmethinkaboutitfornow · 27/09/2020 20:50

@julietmanchester yes! And the office perfume! I love having the separation as much as I can. I wish we could be in the office, but in the meantime I have the office mugs and office stationary set up in my study 😂
And me dressed in office attire with the office perfume. 😂
Slightly less make up as my camera is way too kind to me 😂😂😂

BlueJava · 27/09/2020 20:55

YANBU, I wfh now and still dress professional (nice top with jeans for example) but nothing like office wear preCovid which was mostly suits or jacket and dress. It's saved me so much money - bought nothing for spring, only bought 2 cotton dresses for summer and now we will be back in colder months I still don't need to buy anything as I didn't wear out anything last winter. However, I can see how all this impacts the economy - it's really hard to see how it can recover because many people have not only changed where they work, but how they work.
