Not sure that I'll put up with this in autumn and winter. It was bad enough when our spring weather was not great.

No queues here - London but then they stopped pretty quickly. We went away to the south coast at the beginning of September and were really surprised to still see queues for all the supermarkets there.

Lol, @SantaClaritaDiet, I was thinking along similar lines.

I actually didn't mind the queueing, I found it preferable to queue for 20 minutes to get into an almost empty supermarket than to walk straight in to one that was heaving. And I have a warm, waterproof coat with a hood, shoes that don't leak and an umbrella, because I live in a country that is often chilly, and wet.

That's weird, I live close to the south coast and my nearest Sainsburys and Lidl are on the coast.

I haven't seen queues for supermarkets for ages, since late July or thereabouts.

They should never have stopped. Maybe then we wouldn’t be back on the verge of another lockdown if people hadn’t suddenly emerged from the last one as if there was nothing more to worry about.

Apparently on the first day it opened the Ikea somewhere had a five mile queue and in some other areas people queued for up to six hours. Shock surely nothing can be that essential from ikea? Grin.

...' What do you intend to do, scream "CHARGE!!!!!" and run headfirst into the poor sods on minimum wage who will be stuck manning the doors?

No, as I have even more sympathy for those designated to monitar the constantly changing rules, than the rest of us having to follow them.

@SantaClaritaDiet

The only place I ever have to queue is my kids school.

Are you trying to start panic buying with this thread?

What!!? I don't understand why I'm being accused of this? I admit that I have a dread of shortage of toilet paper (IBD), but other than that (and I only bought one pack yesterday) that's very personal to me.

Speaking as the OP, I did line up outside my local Tesco already wearing a scarf and gloves, as it happened to be a cold day. So I do tend to dress for the weather we're experiencing at the time. I want to mention that my local Tesco has been great, in as much as the employees are making life as easy as possible, whilst having to operate under government restrictions.

I make a point of saying thankyou to people having to provide a service under restrictions that some may challenge, so no, I'm not ignorant of how difficult it is for some.

Our Waitrose has a queue when it's mega busy, luckily it has a roof over the queue so we won't get rained on but the sides are open so if it's cold well freeze
