We're moving back to the UK shortly and I was wondering what your 12-13-year-olds are into? What is popular at the moment? I.e TV programmes, games etc

Girl or boy?

Girl - Harry Potter for sure. Then tv programmes, Once Upon a Time, The next step, Wolfblood... Music, Ariana Grande. Some of DD's friends are into anime.

mamamia2020 · 26/09/2020 09:10

My 12-13 year old is into computer games and sports mainly. He plays CS-go, Dark Souls II, Red Dead Redemption II, he likes South Park, Blackadder, anything with bawdy humour, he spends a lot of time with headphones on listening to music (not sure what - when I ask what he's listening to he says 'Music' 🙄). Basically, he's more like a 14-15 year old!

hopeishere · 26/09/2020 09:26

Gaming. Was fortnite but thing that's changed now. Side Men on YouTube. The Big Bang.

zafferana · 26/09/2020 09:28

TBH OP I think it also depends whether your DS is still 'young' or whether he's hit puberty and is therefore more like my DS. Not all his friends are as precocious as he is!

mamamia2020 · 26/09/2020 09:41

He's still a young 13, only just turned 13 and just hitting puberty.

Being on the PlayStation as much as he can!

You let your child play 18 rated games? Cool
couchparsnip · 27/09/2020 09:36

DD12 and DS14 both love a game called Amoung us on the PC or mobile. It's a puzzle/whodunit game where you guess who the 'impostor' is. It's the latest craze at their school.

couchparsnip · 27/09/2020 09:40

Plus DD likes the 'Dream Team' on YouTube and Twitch. They are the latest Minecraft streamers that everyone seems to like.

Swingbin · 27/09/2020 09:43

Not many kids watch TV these days. Mine are into bikes, Xbox, football, youtube.

C4tintherug · 27/09/2020 09:44

Fortnite. Xbox. Marvel (to a lesser extent). Big Bang theory. Goes out on his bike with his friends

ColdTattyWaitingForSummer · 27/09/2020 09:46

My ds(13) likes marvel movies, computer games like minecraft or roblox, and is recently getting into D&D. Before lockdown he liked meeting friends at the trampoline park or swimming pool. He also still enjoys Lego, although it’s the more intricate sets these days.

BrieAndChilli · 27/09/2020 09:57

DS who is 13 likes playing Nintendo games - Zelda, Mario etc. He likes playing all the retro ones too.
He watches the Simpson’s. He doesn’t really watch any other tv but will watch Star Wars and marvel films.
He’s not a typical boy though and isn’t into any sport at all. He likes to read and draw maps.

mediumperiperi · 27/09/2020 09:58

Teenagers rarely watch TV ime. They watch YouTube, Netflix, TikTok and other videos posted on social media instead (or they game like my son)
He plays a variety of games but definitely not Fortnite any more. He's not into football so FIFA isn't of interest either.

Covert20 · 27/09/2020 10:05

Sport and sport related video games, with a side order of watching YouTube videos of
people playing video games 🤦🏻‍♀️

Chaosalloveragain · 27/09/2020 10:18

12 year old boy.

He's into playing football used to go to watch matches pre Covid, Xbox playing minecraft/Fortnite/fifa. Riding his bike. Watching YouTube videos. Tiktok. Marvel and other superheroes. Swimming, trampoline parks, theme parks. Scouting. He will have a go at most sports and being active.

lljkk · 27/09/2020 10:21

Mine is heavily influenced by adult sister and probably us too.

Funny Youtube videos. Science ones. Horrible Histories. The Office. Young Sheldon. Brooklyn 999. Baking, gardening, cute animals, athletics.

Calabasa · 27/09/2020 10:23

xbox, playstation mostly, bit of cartoon watching on Netflx, lots of video game streams on youtube and twitch.

zafferana · 27/09/2020 15:50

@ButtWormHole no idea it was an 18! Just spoke to DS who thought it was a 16, which is bad enough. Will be reviewing his gaming choices! Thanks

FiveGoMadInDorset · 27/09/2020 15:53

DS 12 plays Among Us on his phone with friends, plays rugby, hangs out with his friends, watches Brooklyn 99 and a whole heap of other stuff on Netflix including Mr Iglesias.

Bingobongo1 · 27/09/2020 15:54

Play station, scouts, any sports, TV - brooklyn 99, Britain's got talent, the Big bang theory.

Retro gaming.

MARIO Lego.

Knex.

Coding, raspberry pi stuff.

DonaldTrumpsChopper · 27/09/2020 16:21

Mine is into YouTube, Minecraft, various online games (he has a YouTube channel and posts gaming stuff mostly). He and his older brother have been playing something called Among, which is a mystery type thing they play with friends.

No TV, although they watch stuff on their devices.

He reads a fair bit, as do his friends. He's reading Death Notes at the moment, which is a mang thing recommended by his English teacher.

Is he into sport? My eldest (16) played a lot of tennis and then met most of his friends at a rugby club. Youngest (13) plays in an orchestra, and a lot of his school friends are in the school orchestra with him.

What's he actually into at the moment? Which part of the UK are you moving to?
