What did you want to be when you grew up?

I wanted to be a WWE Diva.

Umbrellaonesie I just realised we have very similar ambitions!

An archaeologist, a vet or a journalist. There were vague notions of going into law, dentistry or the Security/Secret Services.

I ended up as a Civil Servant and that isn't a code for being a spy sadly!

Con artist. I loved the A Team.

A hotel receptionist. We only ever went to hotels for super special occasions, and they seemed so unbelievably glamorous. I also wanted to drive a green Ford mondeo!

Showjumper.

I was too scared to be a three day eventer.

An accident with an ex-racehorse and a wooden fence when I was 19 destroyed that dream.

First memory was: Business woman living on her own in a small flat painted in pink with a white cat.

Comic book illustrator

I'm actually quite close to my first choice (dog instead of a cat and the flat isn't pink. Yet.)

Astronaut then archaeologist

What's with all the teenage wannabe marine biologists? It's so specific, mentioned twice so far in this thread and was my childhood bestie's dream job too

An Archaeologist but in Germany you had to have Latin to get a uni place and you will have to learn Ancient Greek as well. So, that was a no-go.

Then a midwife but I realised that I wasn't keen on shift working.

When I was about 12 I wanted to be a prison officer, don’t ask why! 17 years later, I have been in the job for 3 years 😂

A mum. Im still not one 🙁

A PE teacher then a physiotherapist.

I am now a teacher but I don't teach PE 🙂

Probation officer, I am a foster carers.

My daughter without any prompting from me is at uni and wants to be a probation officer!

A sheep farmer and a writer

Illustrator. Talked myself out of it as I thought Walt Disney was to far away to commute. Taught (or helped) neice who took it up professionally and even opened her own art gallery

Told my mum i just wanted to work in mcdonalds and get a council flat... Boy did i get in trouble

Currently 3rd year at uni & worked non stop for 16 years! No mcdonalds jobs and a mortgage... Pffft.

I wanted to be a clown because my little sister was scared of them. Big sisters are mean.

Fire fighter. This was in the 80s being female it wasn't an easy process, I failed the spatial awareness part of interview so it never happened. Went on the become a different emergency service and I love my job!

Or work in the post office because I liked the stampers they used. They were so speedy and it made a good noise. Plus I thought I would always get to lick the stamp.

When I was about 3, a trombone player - I saw a segment of Play School about a trombone player and wanted to do it.

Then, I wanted to be a 'disco dancer girl' or be a big cat trainer in the circus. I'm now a nursery teacher and I feel like a lion tamer at times

I wanted to be a professional ice skater

I’m none of those things but I would still love to write if I had the time (I barely have time to read let alone write at the moment)

A nun until I was about 16. Didn’t really work out....

I can't really remember. I was put into dance and other performance training at a very young age, it's what my mother wanted so I did it, but it wasn't what I wanted and I mainly dreamed of places I'd go instead of careers.

When I was a teen and no longer living with her, I did take up high school wrestling in part because of WWE divas (though I had a Spike Dudley shirt). I ended up so busy with that I wasn't around to watch it for a while.

Architect/designer: lots of creative vision but bad at maths & physics so it couldn't happen.
