AnneLovesGilbert · 25/09/2020 18:51

A nun. I was brought up a heathen, never ever christened. Just seemed so romantic. Swishy skirts and things.

Laiste · 25/09/2020 18:52

Free! Totally free! And no one would tie me down or tell me what to do or what to wear or how to behave!!

jessstan2 · 25/09/2020 18:53

An adult.

niceupthedance · 25/09/2020 18:54

A witch

Then an author. I wanted to be the world's youngest author too 😂

TinyMetalBirds · 25/09/2020 18:54

A librarian. All the books!
Then a journalist and/or a writer of books.
Briefly a marine biologist.
I am one of those things.

Iamacatslave · 25/09/2020 18:56

A ballerina.

SecretSantaFix2020 · 25/09/2020 19:20

A tree

HappyDinosaur · 25/09/2020 19:23

Either a vet or Poirot

MandyGalbandi · 25/09/2020 19:24

An air hostess.

Pelleas · 25/09/2020 19:25

A train (when I was very small)

A teacher when I was older - not something I've ever thought of doing as an adult - I think it just seemed more interesting than my dad's boring office job.

Now I have ... a boring office job Grin

To be fair, as office jobs go, it has its elements of interest.

Alarae · 25/09/2020 19:27

Marine biologist until about 13, then I wanted to be a family law solicitor (specifically divorce- such a joy).

Then I went to university for my law degree and realised I didn't want to be.

Ended up as a private client tax advisor (basically advising people on the tax implications of their millions- quite literally).

So still in law, just a variant of it.

Namaste6 · 25/09/2020 19:36

An air hostess - now I'm terrified of flying Confused

Junkmail · 25/09/2020 19:46
@Junkmail

I can top that...I've just started my second year at 45!
Brilliant! Are you enjoying it? I’m very excited but also very nervous!

happinessischocolate · 25/09/2020 19:46

I wanted to be Bet Lynch, I admired her for her bright red lipstick and long nails as she smoked a fag, and slammed pints on the bar

I also wanted to be a librarian because I wanted to use the noisy date stamper and plonk books around noisily a quiet library.

I also wanted to be a hairdresser and would cut my poor mother's hair, looking back I think she let me do it the day before she went to the hairdressers 😁

I'm an accountant and enjoy using a date stamper on every piece of paper that hits my desk

ThatDamnScientist · 25/09/2020 19:48

I had a list!

Doctor,
Ballerina,
Actress/dancer
Fashion designer
RAF fighter pilot
Royal Marine
Doctor again.

Sadly I didn't end up as any of those!

BikeRunSki · 25/09/2020 19:52

A vet.

Chose the right A level subjects, did some euro experience in a Vet’s surgery, decided I didn’t wavt to be a vet after all. A couple of years ago, I was driving a 4x4 around the Yorkshire countryside for work, I realised I was doing what I had wanted to do after all. James Herriot has a lot to answer for!!

Aposterhasnoname · 25/09/2020 19:53

Prison officer.

umberellaonesie · 25/09/2020 19:54

Prime minister
And a Tesco check out girl

Toilenstripes · 25/09/2020 19:58

Librarian

Hotwaterbottlelove · 25/09/2020 19:58

Translator for the UN. So sad that it didn't happen.

HeronLanyon · 25/09/2020 20:06

An archaeologist or palaeontologist. A great grandfather was a mix of the two and quite famous - think that’s where that came from.
A carpenter.
A pilot.
A musician and this was very on the cards until a swerve I still regret.

DuaneBenziesvoice · 25/09/2020 20:16

When I was small I wanted to be Clara the long distance lorry driver from Pigeon Street.

When I got older I decided I wanted to be a psychiatrist but my mum told me that was "a bit weird" so I forgot that idea. I still think I would have enjoyed it.

Lemonyfuckit · 25/09/2020 20:21

When I was little I variously wanted to be a hairdresser, work on a supermarket checkout (I loved the beepy scanners - if self checkout had existed when I was a child I would have been in heaven), or be prime minister.
