My supervisor calls me in for a gen performance meeting after my holiday(before lockdown)
She tells me im doing great, the odd mistake here & there but great otherwise, im popular & hardworking. Then we start the general chit chat and she mentions the one negative to take away:
i eat too much fruit and its for everyone (the company pays)
There was a lot of fruit left when i was on holiday apparently
(No mention that over 50% of people were absent then- one sacked and the account and director also off)
Granted i have the occasional piece too much but i was miffed

AIBU to feel this way?

thanks for your support :) Nobody is greedy in the office imo but she seems to think that the leftover fruit when im on holiday is proof despite 4 people being off in total

She's clutching at straws, it's there to eat. Perhaps ask her how much you are allowed a day

Elsewyre · 24/09/2020 08:49

@bctf123

tbh i think she is a bully. Its a friendly, non petty office where people dont watch things like this and small enough to hear whispers if people were annoyed
So you're saying she knows you think shes a petty bully and a control freak?

If not then you're office isnt that small is it?

sqirrelfriends · 24/09/2020 08:50

How much fruit are you eating, and what is the allotted amount per person?

bctf123 · 24/09/2020 08:53

for clarity- there is no set amount. People from the warehouse and other offices may snatch a piece as they walk by, especially if their fruit has finished
if i asked her for a set amount, she would probably shrug her shoulders

You're taking more than one arent you?
rookiemere · 24/09/2020 08:55

Yes but how much are you eating? 2,3,4,5 pieces a day? Impossible to say if she's right or wrong without that information.

BetterEatCheese · 24/09/2020 08:56

How much is in there, how many people is it for and how much are you eating? Without this info it's impossible to comment

bctf123 · 24/09/2020 09:00

we all are

OP posts:
bctf123 · 24/09/2020 09:00

7 people and im definitely not having 4 peoples worth

OP posts:
pinkgin85 · 24/09/2020 09:04

So you don't want to say how many pieces you're taking a day?

rookiemere · 24/09/2020 09:05

Yes but it does seem as if you're eating more than one person's worth as you won't answer the direct questions.

Angelina82 · 24/09/2020 09:06

I’m guessing your supervisor heard something through the grapevine, but I would be appled and orange a date for the pear of you to discuss the currant situation.

bctf123 · 24/09/2020 09:08

i didnt count how many pcs i was eating but not even 2 peoples worth

OP posts:
seayork2020 · 24/09/2020 09:08

So you were caught doing something wrong so she is a control freak?

JamesTKirkcompatible · 24/09/2020 09:09

But honestly, how many pieces do you have each day? I think more than 1-2 pieces every day is more than you'd assume for shared fruit. And you would assume people won't take a piece every single day either. It's a bonus snack not a core part of everybody's breakfast every day. A portion is one apple, one banana or a small bunch grapes - not if it is in tiny slices like sliced pineapple or kiwi, then maybe people take more.

Someone will have decided how much to get based on the idea that 12 people will eat on average 1 per day, so we buy 36 pieces every 3 days. For example.

You haven't said how much you take so I reckon you know it's more than this normal amount!

LaurieFairyCake · 24/09/2020 09:12

Of course you know how many pieces of fruit you're eating Confused

People are probably allowed 2 a day

rookiemere · 24/09/2020 09:19

If you are eating more than a reasonable portion for one person 1-2 pieces per day, then yes you are being greedy.

bctf123 · 24/09/2020 09:20

obvs, she does a lot of other stuff too, like shouting at me (in front of certain less senior colleagues only)

OP posts:
seayork2020 · 24/09/2020 09:23

So its the old 'I will start the thread with one thing but when people aren't agreeing with me I will drip in others'?

imissthesouth · 24/09/2020 09:23

Don't change anything, if people clearly aren't eating it except you then that's a good thing, they'd be paying for it to be eaten or to go to waste anyways?

baileys6904 · 24/09/2020 09:26

Omg you actually admitted you take more than you should! Yet she's controlling and vile for basically agreeing with you..... Smh

bctf123 · 24/09/2020 09:28

tbh everyone eats it. the reason there was loads left over when i was on a/l is because another 3 people were also off if you see my point(& 2/3 left in the office with a whole basket)
