I used to hate anything with strawberry growing up.

OP posts:
Lsquiggles · 23/09/2020 20:24

Mash! I love it now but when I was little my mom used to have to put a load of ketchup in it so it was bright pink for me to eat it Grin

DipSwimSwoosh · 23/09/2020 20:25

Also smoked salmon, Parma ham

Illusive01 · 23/09/2020 20:26

Carrots, unless they were in something else!

CoffeeRunner · 23/09/2020 20:29

Curry.
Rice.
All forms of pasta.
Broccoli.
Cauliflower.
Apple pie.
Custard.
Tuna.

Turns out my mum was just a terrible cook. Not sure why my dad never attempted any cooking - he had lived alone for 5 years before getting married & was capable. He also finished work at 4pm most days. I’d like to think nowadays he would have.

hesaidshesaidwhat · 23/09/2020 20:32

Liver, fried by my mother until it could be used to make a pair of shoes
Butterscotch angel delight, makes me feel sick even now!

Furries · 23/09/2020 20:32

As a kid in the 70’s, I flipping hated Rissoles. Can’t remember who produced them, but my heart hank whenever they were served up!

CMOTDibbler · 23/09/2020 20:33

My parents were proponents of eating locally, seaonally, and in the case of meat 'nose to tail' well before it was fashionable.
I hated offal and all the random meat cuts and remember long winters of mashed celeriac (which I quite like now, but mum made it watery and ick), marrow (again watery), and baked leeks.
The worst though was my dads obsession with mint sauce. I loathed it, he loved it, and would put it on my food which I then had to eat. This lasted until I vommed it all back up and he gave in

TheDuchessofMalfy · 23/09/2020 20:45

Parsnips - it was the fact they looked a bit like potatoes but weren’t, so might eat them by mistake expecting potatoes. Fine with them now.

Elderflower cordial - because you might (again) drink it expecting water.

I didn’t like peas and still don’t because they are a pain to eat!

TheDuchessofMalfy · 23/09/2020 20:47

Oh I’ve just remembered - I didn’t like chips!

funinthesun19 · 23/09/2020 20:47

Quiche. Love it now!

cinnamonbun · 23/09/2020 20:52

Parsnips, rice

I enjoy them both now

purplejungle · 23/09/2020 20:55

Salmon- love it now

Daisychainsandglitter · 23/09/2020 20:56

Fish still hate it!

TinyMetalBirds · 23/09/2020 20:57

All fish and seafood.
Milk except on cereal
Cream
Baked beans
Tea. I still detest tea.

sleepylittlebunnies · 23/09/2020 20:57

Olives - love them now, suddenly liked them at age 30 after having DC1.

Sprouts - used to swallow them while to avoid chewing and properly tasting them. We weren’t allowed to leave food so anything we didn’t like we were given a small portion of. I do love them now, especially in a bubble and squeak.

KarlKennedysDurianFruit · 23/09/2020 20:59

Baked beans and bananas, still do. Otherwise I eat pretty much anything.

ILoveToSing · 23/09/2020 21:03

Mushrooms. My mum used to make a pasta dish with them and would pick them out for me. I love them now!

Brockwell · 23/09/2020 21:06

Mushrooms
Offal
Coffee
Mustard
Lamb (my mother's cooking is to blame)
Pork (ditto)

I still hate all the above except lamb and pork. I also used to hate:

Eggs
Bacon
Parsnips
Swede
Broad Beans
Spinach

(All because of my mother's cooking) but I like them all now. (my husband can cook)

So many miserable mealtimes with my Dad insisting we sit at the table and eat our dinners up even though it was mostly over cooked and tasted horrible.

Kljnmw3459 · 23/09/2020 21:07

Everything except roasted chicken legs, fries, fish fingers and rice pudding. Eating was a necessary chore. No joy to be had.

catsareme14 · 23/09/2020 21:14

Blancmange . My mum used to make blancmange in a rabbit mould surrounded by green jelly 'grass.' It was awful when it was freshly made but after a day it would dry out & crack , vile !!

Doliv63 · 23/09/2020 21:17

Offal
Pineapple
Celery

Livebyfaithnotsight · 23/09/2020 21:21

Spinach and ricotta pasta 🤢

Shepherds pie

Chicken

Swedes and parsnips (still can't stand them

Cooked salmon

Sweet and sour sauce

x2boys · 23/09/2020 21:24

Liver which I still hate now ,kidney ,wouldn't even try it now ,think it's the texture I hated curry and anything spicy ,love it now, milk still hate it but I blame my primary school making me drink those horrible little bottles that had been left in the classroom all day so it was warm and smelt of sick 🤮

youdidask · 23/09/2020 21:27

My mum is of that generation that would
Overcook veg, so everything was soft, soggy and tasteless with no vitamins left.
Then we got a microwave and dad would cook all the veg in there but put leek in as well so everything just tasted of leek. I hate leek.

youdidask · 23/09/2020 21:27

And strawberry favour anything- reminds me of worming mixture and makes me heave.
