Hahaha no, most of the Xmas turkeys are still gobble gobbling in the fields and will be for a good few weeks yet! There will be plenty

chocolatesaltyballs22 · 22/09/2020 15:23

FFS whatever next. I hope their freezers pack up and they have to be binned before Christmas.

Get a grip people.

Turkey is overrated.

AryaStarkWolf · 22/09/2020 15:24

oh for gods sake Grin

5foot5 · 22/09/2020 15:27

Why oh why?

Mind you it reminds me just before lockdown when the panic buying was kicking off I was in the supermarket and I saw a woman with about a dozen Easter eggs in her trolley. She was talking to a friend and I heard her say "I thought I had better stock up because they will be panic buying these next" I swear there was not a hint of irony in the way she said it.

JacobReesMogadishu · 22/09/2020 15:27

This is the 2nd thread about panic buying turkeys. I didn't even know you can buy turkeys in Sept!

BrightYellowDaffodil · 22/09/2020 15:27

I should imagine a turkey is harder to wipe your arse with, even if it is frozen.

MrsTerryPratchett · 22/09/2020 15:29

All the more duck, goose, chicken and lamb legs for my Christmas. Bwahahahaha.

Idiots with their crappy, dry turkey.

MissConductUS · 22/09/2020 15:29

We'll ship you our surplus after Thanksgiving.

Yeah, would be really nice for a living being to have been killed for nothing! Yay. Hmm

As long as it's not bleached and full of hormones!
NiceGerbil · 22/09/2020 15:34

Agree South park that's exactly what I thought.

aintnothinbutagstring · 22/09/2020 15:35

I hope some people are stupid enough to buy all the turkeys, the traditional Xmas dinner is overrated, might force us all to be a bit more imaginative.

wishcaptainbarnaclewasmyboss · 22/09/2020 15:36

If anything, might there not be a surplus of turkey? Certainly, the need to buy a Christmas turkey big enough for 15 people might be wishful thinking!

LongPauseNoAnswer · 22/09/2020 15:36

Can you even get turkey in any other month besides December. I've never seen whole turkeys at other times of the year and they eat EVERYTHING where I live.

Sparklesocks · 22/09/2020 15:36

The toilet paper drama was created because some people panic bought initially, and then others saw the footage of tv and also stocked up in case they couldn’t get it again. But there was never a shortage from a supply perspective, we make it in the U.K. and there was plenty of it - it just couldn’t get into shops quick enough. A lot of the panic buying in other countries was because they didn’t make it themselves so delays in importing caused the shortage.

So unless everyone suddenly decides to buy multiple turkeys, there will be plenty to go round!

msbevvy · 22/09/2020 15:39

If there is a need to stock up, who wants to fill half their freezer with a huge turkey? It would be the last neat I would panic buy.

msbevvy · 22/09/2020 15:39

Meat

GolightlyMrsGolightly · 22/09/2020 15:45

There's going to be no bugger coming round at christmas - we'll be fine with a couple of chicken thighs. It'll make a nice change from feeding the 5000....

UnaCorda · 22/09/2020 16:00

@rorosemary

Turkey is overrated.
There are some beautiful beaches.
ChardonnaysPetDragon · 22/09/2020 16:14

Well, there’s already mince pies in the shop if someone feels the urge to stock up.

MissConductUS · 22/09/2020 17:36

There is now a shortage of loo roll in Scotland as people panic buy.

LOO-SING IT Coronavirus Scotland: Shops sell out of loo roll as Scots panic-buy ahead of lockdown announcement

Fear not, there's plenty of organic turkey produced here we can ship you.
