Basically MLMs but they claim to be employers ‘recruiting now’ or ‘for Christmas’ and always a load of gullible ‘interested!’ Comments underneath!

AIBU to wish they could be banned?

I’m with you. As soon I see “I’m excited to be” or “I’m proud to announce” I think ffs another vulnerable women conned into loosing money on behalf of a company.

KitchenConfidential · 19/09/2020 14:41

YES OP! I would give anything to ban the MLMs from our local social media. And what pisses me off even more is if you post anything critical of them or even question anything, you get shouted down by the hun brigade and made to feel as if you’re the rip off merchant preying on vulnerable people. Makes me so angry.

PurBal · 19/09/2020 14:44

I'm with you. A cousin has just joined an MLM and I've had to block her. I feel like I want to "save" her but I have to remind myself she is an adult.

HoratiotheHorsefly · 19/09/2020 14:45

But, but, but the travel agent ones always refute being an mlm Hmm

ReginaaPhalange · 19/09/2020 14:46

Or the ones who constantly keep adding you to their private groups!! I keep clicking the button to say stop notifications from this person but I still get them! Get the hint hun! I don't want to join your MLM group!

PatchworkElmer · 19/09/2020 14:49

Yep, I hate it. They’re all over our community group too- I reported one to admin and they replied saying it was no issue as “someone is just trying to promote their business” 🙄🙄🙄

picklemewalnuts · 19/09/2020 15:07

Start an fb selling page that's no mlms.
its easy, and other people feel the same way and will join.

Basically those pages aren't properly modded or admined. It can be hard work so people give up.

You could offer your help as an admin/mod, and turn the group around.

deplorabelle · 19/09/2020 15:09

Yep suffering greatly with the travel agent ones. I work for the NHS and have no time or money to go on holiday even though I love travel. I don't want to lose friends over it as well, when I'm the only one who won't be booking a holiday through them.

Body shop etc I find more annoying but easier to ignore. Monat is infuriating with the whole "two differently lit pictures of the same person totally proves my shampoo makes hair grow back."

teawithbetty · 19/09/2020 15:16

Ours is slowly sinking under the weight of knock off perfumes and aftershaves.

OP posts:
WitchQueenofDarkness · 19/09/2020 15:34

Keep blocking the culprits then you won't see their posts.

Not the real answer I know - MLMs should be made illegal but at least the group will be useable for you. I keep reporting them in one of my local groups as they are not allowed. Admin delete and block but still the huns persist

blindmansbluff · 19/09/2020 15:38

@teawithbetty

Ours is slowly sinking under the weight of knock off perfumes and aftershaves.
But they're NOT knock offs, they're made in the same factory using the same mixture of smelly stuff! In fact they're STRONGER than the branded version as they use higher grade oils! PLUS you're supporting a real FAMILY instead of a multi million pound corporation Halo

Sarcasm in case anybody misses it Grin

baileys6904 · 19/09/2020 15:49

I run a large community groups and those adverts are banned. I usually follow up the deletion with a notice about that specific MLM and how much it costs to join or stay a member etc. Funnily enough, most of the hums now behave themselves....

DaisyChainsForever · 19/09/2020 15:55

Block and report every time. I have 3 friends who are currently doing the perfume. i have unfollowed them so it's not appearing in my newsfeed.

KitchenConfidential · 19/09/2020 18:09

Block and report every time Report to who though? Facebook certainly doesn’t care!

UnfinishedSymphon · 19/09/2020 18:19

Is Body Shop now an MLM, a very good friend has just started selling this, she’s always been very anti MLM?

BetterCallSaul99 · 19/09/2020 18:26

Gets on my nerves too! This morning I even had a complete stranger whatsapp me. Can't remember the exact wording used but I said if your doing mlm I'm not interested. She replied ok it's a no for now! Where did she even get my number from?

Soundbyte · 19/09/2020 18:27

They’re the new chuggers and they’re bloody everywhere.

UnacceptableOrNot · 19/09/2020 18:32

Someone on my FB friends list has recently started doing an MLM, and constantly adds everyone to her groups, sales pages, price lists etc, yet had the cheek to say on FB today for everyone to stop adding her to things or she will delete them!

AntiHop · 19/09/2020 18:36

The body shop ones depress me the most. It used to be such a great shop.

Gingernaut · 19/09/2020 18:36

FB is rife.

The Jobs Section, Marketplace, Groups and individual friends.

It's horrible.

teawithbetty · 19/09/2020 18:37

Its so annoying as I can’t always tell what might be genuine businesses and what is just a stupid MLM!

OP posts:
Ginfordinner · 19/09/2020 18:37

I don't tend to get them on my feeds. Why do you think you are?

teawithbetty · 19/09/2020 19:09

I must secretly be desperate to see them Confused

OP posts:
sayanythingelse · 19/09/2020 19:21

They're everywhere. They're on job sites aswell masquerading as real jobs with well written adverts.

I (used to) work in social media and applied for a role I saw on one of the job sites. I received an email about it the next day and it was for bloody Oriflame. I don't think she liked my response email very much.

I know MLMs like to prey on the vulnerable but it seems even more crappy when everyone's out of work.

BalanceGreen · 19/09/2020 19:26

I hate all the 'I want to buy from small businesses, tell me yours' posts - always filled up with the same MLM crap from different people; nothing actually homemade or independently thought up.
