I fully stand by that. AIBU?

I thought this was the amendment we all agreed to following the debacle called "the 80's".

YellowEllis · 19/09/2020 12:26

I thought so too! MIL commented on my 1yo today wearing dark jeans and a blue denim jacket and couldn't believe I dressed him in double denim. I wanted to make sure I wasn't crazy! I do it all the time, black jeans, light wash denim jacket.

It still counts and is normally not a great look! Although there is the rare person who can pull it off...

Itwasaquarterpast11 · 19/09/2020 12:29

Fashionistas: yes, small children: probably, rest of population: still quite shit I'm afraid.

Laaalaaaa · 19/09/2020 12:41

I dress my child in double denim and they absolutely rock it. One of their cutest outfits.

Nottherealslimshady · 19/09/2020 13:11

Does not sound like a good look! Sorry OP.

Oysterbabe · 19/09/2020 13:13

It's still double denim and fair game for bewitched references.

PineappleUpsideDownCake · 19/09/2020 13:13

I think it looks awful and wouldng do it but its up to everyone what they like, especially kids!

wildcherries · 19/09/2020 13:16

Still double denim.

IfIHadAHeart · 19/09/2020 13:18

I wear black jeans with a blue denim jacket but would never wear two shades of blue!!!

Seasuns · 19/09/2020 13:24

Never seen the issue with double-denim, be it the same color or not.

Seeing someone wear double-denim in different colours actually irks me as it doesn't match, to me denim should match... Like in this pic, love it.

I wouldn't wear it as denim isn't my thing, but matching colours looks more put-together imo.

I was born in the late 90s though so missed the 80s or whenever double was a thing.

Double denim doesn't count if it's different colours

Whereas these look awful to me...

Think black denim with blue denim works...

Weave · 19/09/2020 13:26

Double denim is same colour, possibly different tones. A time and a place for everything.

Puffalicious · 19/09/2020 13:28

I think double denim looks great. I wear dark jeans and a light, shortsleeved, fine denim shirt open over a vest. One of my favourite outfits.

JellyTeapot · 19/09/2020 13:30

Where do we stand on a pink denim jacket with dark blue jeans? Asking for a friend...

katie43210 · 19/09/2020 13:33

Agree with pp, black jeans and blue denim jacket I do wear but never 2 lots of blue denim

Mamette · 19/09/2020 13:35

I wear black jeans and a blue denim shirt.

TinkersTailor · 19/09/2020 13:38

I've read denim so many times on this thread it doesn't sound like an actual word now Grin

Weave · 19/09/2020 13:42

Agree with @Puffalicious

SquashedSpring · 19/09/2020 14:05

I don't know... Maybe if one piece of denim is black... but even then I think it's dodgy ground.

BogRollBOGOF · 19/09/2020 14:19

Whoa. That was tripple denim on one picture!

It either needs to match with something else to break it up.
Or obviously different, but complimentary.
But not clashing shades.

MaryShelley1818 · 19/09/2020 16:55

YABU...never acceptable

HeretoThereandBackAgain · 19/09/2020 17:09

Fine if totally different colours, such as JellyTeapot’s punk denim jacket. Blue jacket ok with a contrasting top and any colour jeans except blue.

Blue jacket with blue jeans is a no.

What’s everyone’s view on brightly coloured jeans? I’m having a colour blocking phase and am pondering a pair of red jeans.

One of my best moments was in the us - Midwest - when staying with a relative who came out in de rigour double denim - my siblings and I both just automatically said oh ‘double denim - looks good’ without thinking. There then followed a long explanation of the whole U.K. DD ‘thing’ with said relative looking at us like we were absolutely mad - by the end of I too thought we were mad. we were in the land of daily double denim !! DDD !!! (Sometimes even triple with a shirt and jacket involved)
