I fully stand by that. AIBU?

OP's MIL is extremely rude

HeronLanyon · 19/09/2020 17:14

Oh and denim or turquoise embellished cowboy boots as well. 😳

markzuckerbergsgreytshirt · 19/09/2020 17:33

Who cares if a 1yo wears double denim whatever the colour. Your MIL is BU and weird. 1yos are not fashion accessories.

IfIHadAHeart · 19/09/2020 18:25

@HeretoThereandBackAgain

Fine if totally different colours, such as JellyTeapot’s punk denim jacket. Blue jacket ok with a contrasting top and any colour jeans except blue.

Blue jacket with blue jeans is a no.

What’s everyone’s view on brightly coloured jeans? I’m having a colour blocking phase and am pondering a pair of red jeans.

I’ve got some red skinny jeans from topshop. Love them!
YellowEllis · 19/09/2020 18:35

@JellyTeapot

Where do we stand on a pink denim jacket with dark blue jeans? Asking for a friend...
Is it the M&S one? If so I bought it last week and have worn with blue and black jeans with zero shame!

I thought that DD was actually "in" at the moment?

Beamur · 19/09/2020 18:39

My DD (age 13) loves double denim. Wears it with no shame despite my sharp intake of breath...
I think coloured denim isn't really denim for DD purposes. Dark blue & pink would look fab.

Puffalicious · 19/09/2020 18:53

Gosh, I remember coloured denim the first time around. I sported lots of pink and pale blue and white denim circa 1993. My favourite piece was a pale pink denim waistcoat from Benetton worn with nothing underneath and 501s Wink. Jeez I thought I was the bees knees working the bars of Faliraki!Blush

pilates · 19/09/2020 18:58

Black jeans and blue denim jacket fine to me

Hahaha88 · 19/09/2020 19:23

I'd be more bothered about 1 year old in denim in the first place, how very uncomfortable for them, especially a jacket. Let your baby be a baby, they aren't small for long

HeronLanyon · 19/09/2020 20:50

Ah - a 1 year old - I missed that. Sounds stiff and uncomfy for a small child to me. I wouldnt expect a 1 year old in denim and certainly not double denim. Although suspect it was more kind of denim coloured soft cotton ???

YellowEllis · 19/09/2020 21:20

Denim jeggings and a soft lined denim jacket but the inside is like a hoodie. He's not in thick rigid denim don't worry.

Double denim works well if you do it right, & it sounds like you did ✅

HeronLanyon · 19/09/2020 21:27

Op Grin must say I was struggling to picture it !
I honestly think when it’s not denim it doesn’t matter. Also don’t think the dd ‘rules/exceptions’ even apply to anyone under say 13 ish at which age they’ll decide for themselves.

YellowEllis · 19/09/2020 22:30

Yes I'm not offended on 1yos behalf though I do think MIL is a twat Hmm

It just made me realise how I regularly wear black jeans with a blue denim jacket and have never once thought of it as double denim! I

PineappleUpsideDownCake · 19/09/2020 22:41

Black jeans and blue jacket is so double denim... but does it matter!?

dudsville · 19/09/2020 22:44

I'm now recalling my red button fly Levi's. I was so tiny. I must have looked amazing. Can't recall what tops I wore with them.

BabyofMine · 19/09/2020 22:49

Yabu for giving a shit as to whether it counts or not. Where what you like. Does it make you happy? That’s all that matters and the fashion police can go fuck themselves.

Double denim, honestly what a load of twaddle.

BabyofMine · 19/09/2020 22:50

*WEAR NOT WHERE!!

sbhydrogen · 19/09/2020 22:50

I love a bit of double denim. Mix & match, babyyyyy.
