Do you just wipe it or spray a bit of Dettol on it or something else?

The trick is not to read about those studies in the first place. Ignorance is bliss.

Strawberrydaiquiris · 18/09/2020 21:34

@SomewhereEast

I don't either, unless the kids manage to smear food on it or something. MN really is another world...

@Thisismytimetoshine

How can faecal matter accumulate on your phone? Hmm.
Well sometimes the toilet paper's run out and...whats a girl to do?
CandlesBlanketsandTea · 18/09/2020 21:39

I use a spot of rubbing alcohol on a paper towel, it's 70% alcohol so it will kill any germs and it doesn't get my phone wet. They've done studies on mobile phones before and they harbour loads of bacteria.

WitchQueenofDarkness · 18/09/2020 21:39

I don't clean mine - don't really see the need.

I don't use it on the loo ( that is just gross)
I wash my hands
The people I live with do likewise

That's been enough in over 25 years of mobile phone ownership

I sanitise my hands if I have to touch anything communal in a public place in a Covid world

RoseMartha · 18/09/2020 21:39

Anti bac wipes or anti bac foam and wipe with clean tissue

Lazypuppy · 18/09/2020 21:46

I don't wash it either

BigBadVoodooHat · 18/09/2020 21:46

None of us has had a stomach bug in years, touch wood

No one in our house has either, and we disinfect/sanitise not a single one of our possessions.

cocopops · 18/09/2020 21:46

I don’t. I’ve got other things I’d prefer to do.

BikeTyson · 18/09/2020 21:48

I don’t. I clean my hands. Anyway Covid is airborne, surface transfer is not the main method of transmission.

emptyshelvesagain · 18/09/2020 21:50

I'm laughing so much at the idea of 'cleaning mobile phone' being an option on the 'things to do list Grin

Hmmm fam, what do you want to do today?

Go to the park?
Play board games?
Visit family?
Shopping day out?
Stay home and clean our phones?

Thisismytimetoshine · 18/09/2020 22:08

Same here. Amused at the notion that disinfecting your phone being given the credit 😂

They've done studies on mobile phones before and they harbour loads of bacteria.

Everything harbours loads of bacteria. Bacteria are everywhere on the planet and are essential to the planet's ecosystems. Your body is full of bacteria, and actually contains more bacterial cells than human cells.

People have conflated 'bacteria' with 'evil and must be nuked out of existence at all costs or we'll instantly drop down dead'. Most bacteria are good, and necessary. Unfortunately Dettol isn't clever enough to only kill the 'bad' bacteria, so all the 'good' ones get destroyed too.

Ironically, the anti-bac trend is actually compromising immunity. And yet still people persist. Confused

RedRosie · 18/09/2020 22:16

Sorry. Antibac doesn't kill viruses. It really doesn't. Just saying ...

Benjispruce2 · 18/09/2020 22:20

Kitchen towel and Method kitchen spray.

ImANosyNeighbour · 18/09/2020 22:28

I regularly use an anti bac wipe, being careful not to get any moisture in the ports and then dry with a tissue. I did this before Covid too as phones harbour loads of bacteria.

artyandtarty · 18/09/2020 23:15

I use an antibacterial cleaning wipe sprayed with some Zoflora. I do it every time I return from being out & about with said lurgy harbouring device.

I cleaned it pre COVID too, mobiles harbour loads of germs 🦠 🤮

Do you change your clothes and wash your hair every time you've been outside? How come these lurgies attach themselves like magnets to your phone but not the rest of you?
didireallysaythat · 18/09/2020 23:32

Boil wash with zoflora?

Itsabeautifuldayheyhey · 18/09/2020 23:32

The only time I clean my phone is if the screen has smears and I can't read it when the sun shines on it. I just clean it with a microfibre cloth.

If it were to have the Covid-29 virus on it, it will have come from me as I'm the only one that uses my phone. If I already have the virus and then touch my phone with the virus on it, I think it will hardly make a difference.

Thurmanmurman · 18/09/2020 23:38

It's never even occurred to me to be honest!

happymummy12345 · 18/09/2020 23:46

I don't

BeaverTail · 18/09/2020 23:53

Hadn't occurred to me to clean it but probably a sensible precaution.

Notfeelinggreattoday · 19/09/2020 00:00

I use a dettol wipe but have screen protector on and in case so wiping those as opposed to phone really
I also bought some phone wipes

Dallowgill · 19/09/2020 02:54

Never thought to clean it due to COVID-19. I polish it on my clothes if it gets smeary but that’s it.
