Do you just wipe it or spray a bit of Dettol on it or something else?

@Twickerhun

How long can it live for though?

I have never even considered cleaning my phone, unless I spill something on it.

SlopesOff · 18/09/2020 18:35

100% alcohol. The stuff sold for cleaning tech stuff which was also sold for killing the virus.

KrisAkabusi · 18/09/2020 18:57

I've never considered cleaning my phone. I'm the only person that handles it.

skippy67 · 18/09/2020 19:01

I don't.

SockYarn · 18/09/2020 19:04

I don't clean it. Nobody touches it apart from me, and DH. And given that DH and I sleep in the same bed, the phone is hardly the risk point.

I really don't believe that people are being infected by their phones. Or their post, shopping, and all the other things that people are manically cleaning.

Havaiana · 18/09/2020 19:04

I use the screen wipes at the office whenever i remembber, which isn't often.

Quartz2208 · 18/09/2020 19:09

I dont. My phone is always in the house with me or in my bag outside of the house. No one outside of my household touches it

Surface transmission is rare and is unlikely to be on something that belongs to a person but more likely shared surfaces such as doorknobs or lift buttons. And then if you wash your hands afterwards you are fine

ExclamationPerfume · 18/09/2020 19:11

I don't. I give it a rub on my t-shirt when it looks smeary.

jb2941 · 18/09/2020 19:13

A while ago I bought a blackhead removal tool. I never used it much but it came with a ton of pre/injection alcohol Swab wipes so I've been using them.

Also sometimes use an anti bac wipe if not too wet. You can also buy screen wipes but cost quite bit ££

jb2941 · 18/09/2020 19:14

Also, I'm amazed people don't wipe their phones. I was wiping mine way before covid. We touch them so much!

Boom45 · 18/09/2020 19:14

Obviously we're still learning about this virus but the latest research seems to show it's very fragile if it dries out, so while ever "encased" in fine droplets in the air it can live outside the body but on surfaces it seems to die quite quickly. Masks and handwashing are still the best way to keep yourself (and others) safe

HeronLanyon · 18/09/2020 19:15

Back in March I bought a box of antiseptic wipes. The box did say they were small. I thought well I only need to clean my hands with them.

They are about 2.5 inches square Grin there are hundreds of them! They are (On reading the box more carefully) for sterilising before injecting !

They are perfect for cleaning my phone. Only clean it when I remember. Should clean it more often because it will be high usage etc

Early on I was slightly wondering if they might damage my screen - they haven’t.

morefun · 18/09/2020 19:17

I don't. I'm the only one using it

notso · 18/09/2020 19:18

I just wipe the screen with a tissue or something if it needs it.
My Mum has bought one of those sanitising box things for hers, goodness knows why as she only sends about three texts a month.

BrokenBrit · 18/09/2020 19:20

No one outside my household touches my phone so I don’t clean it, just like I don’t clean my laptop or remote controls etc.
Maybe that’s wrong but I’d worry about damaging electrical items by cleaning them and I would imagine any risk is really small, certainly compared to the average trip to the shop etc.

juicyjuiceu · 18/09/2020 19:22

I use anti bac wipes. It's something I'v always done pre covid.

JustCallMeGriffin · 18/09/2020 19:22

I wash it with soap and water like my hands...but then I have a waterproof phone in a waterproof case so a little bit of soapy water doesn't affect it. I definitely wouldn't recommend doing this with an ordinary phone!

SociallyDistantPenguin · 18/09/2020 19:23

I use a little handsoap from the bathroom on a damp bit of tissue.

Not specifically for covid, just my phone seems to attract dirt so I've always given it the occasional clean.

Coldwinterahead1 · 18/09/2020 19:24

Rubbing Alcohol

DoreenWinkings · 18/09/2020 19:27

I don't.

I only do the ones at work if I think of it and I'm bored. We all use those.

I wash my hands regularly. I figure that will do.

OverTheRainbow88 · 18/09/2020 19:27

Dettol wipe it

BoingBoingyBoing · 18/09/2020 19:29

I throw my phone away each evening and open a fresh one. Only way to be safe.

Borderscotch · 18/09/2020 19:30

I use lens wipes as they are high in alcohol or clinell wipes, although my screen is a little less responsive than pre covid

Frazzled13 · 18/09/2020 19:31

Never cleaned it beyond a wipe on my trousers to get rid of fingerprints.
