Do you just wipe it or spray a bit of Dettol on it or something else?

I use an anti bac wipe a few times a week to give it a good clean and it has not damaged any part of it and not damaged the screen protector. I also do remote whenever I have the wipes out and I remember.

SabrinaThwaite · 18/09/2020 19:34

Boil wash with a few drops of highly chlorinated bleach, you can never be too careful.

PeaPeaEeByGum · 18/09/2020 19:34

I cover it in gravy and set the dog on it.

userxx · 18/09/2020 19:36

I lick it clean

🤣🤣

yeOldeTrout · 18/09/2020 19:38

Never Xed my mind to clean it. I don't understand how germs would get on it that weren't already on me, too.

Bananalanacake · 18/09/2020 19:38

Boingboingy. How do you clean the SIM card each time you put it in a new phone Grin.
This reminds me of the 'How often do you bleach your skirting boards' thread.

viques · 18/09/2020 19:39

I huff on it and give it a quick polish on my thighs. Brings it up a treat.

Angrymum22 · 18/09/2020 19:43

The only place I use wipes on my phone is at work ( clinical setting) otherwise it stays in my bag or at home. Much healthier for me and my phone to wash my hands before handling the phone. It’s your hands that carry the virus not the phone. Same for your shopping , far safer to just wash your hands before and after handling it than to try and wash every item you bring into the house.

The sim card gets blasted into space to be cleaned via cosmic radiation. Only way to be sure.
Whathappenedtothelego · 18/09/2020 19:45

I don't. If there were enough germs on my phone to infect me, they'd also be on my clothes etc, and I'd catch it anyway.

I also don't understand the worry of germs being all over my mask, and having to be more careful when I take that off after I've been in a shop.
If there are germs on my mask, there are germs on my clothes and hair, and on the skin of my face.

Why would I be more at risk touching a phone or a mask than I would be touching any other of my belongings?

CurlyMango · 18/09/2020 19:51

Wash mine in hot soapy water. It’s waterproof

Wakemeupwhenthisisover · 18/09/2020 19:55

I don’t?

TOFO1965 · 18/09/2020 20:01

I cleaned mine a little too enthusiastically and trashed 1100 quids worth of kit, so now I don’t clean. They really aren’t built to be cleaned in any effective manner at all, and in any case fomite transmission overplayed.

DespairingHomeowner · 18/09/2020 20:04

Rubbing alcohol/alcohol wipes: this is the manufacturers recco for general cleaning and also kills Covid

SlopesOff · 18/09/2020 20:04

Although I clean mine with tech suitable stuff (previous post) I have always cleaned my phones because they get sticky and dirty, same as laptop keyboards.

Just looking at what comes off after a clean following a fair length of time shows that. I hate sticky phones and laptops.

Flynn999 · 18/09/2020 20:11

Wipe the screen every so often on my jeans 🤷‍♀️

BigBadVoodooHat · 18/09/2020 20:12

@BoingBoingyBoing

I throw my phone away each evening and open a fresh one. Only way to be safe.
I want to laugh, but then, this being MN, I can't be entirely sure that you're joking ... Wink
CeeceeBloomingdale · 18/09/2020 20:15

If I've cleaned my glasses with a wipe I occasionally use that. Otherwise I don't bother as I haven't died from dirtyphoneitis thus far

BigBadVoodooHat · 18/09/2020 20:15

@jb2941

Also, I'm amazed people don't wipe their phones. I was wiping mine way before covid. We touch them so much!
Never, ever cleaned mine. Never, ever caught anything from it.

I'll take my chances. What's life without the frisson of danger that only an unwiped phone can bring to your day?

BojoKilledMyMojo · 18/09/2020 20:16

I don't really bother unless it gets mucky.

hollieberrie · 18/09/2020 20:17

Rubbing alcohol. I also use this on my contactless card. I had Covid back in March and am still not right. I'm very worried about catching it again.

CokeyCola · 18/09/2020 20:18

Rubbing alcohol.

Codexdivinchi · 18/09/2020 20:19

I only use bleach/anti bac in my kitchen and bathroom.

Kids need germs

chunkyrun · 18/09/2020 20:21

Just wipe down with hand soap, not as often as I should in all honesty

TheFormerPorpentinaScamander · 18/09/2020 20:23

With unicorn tears
