What is it about baby chub?

Ori82 · 18/09/2020 12:52

DS 2 drunk lots of milk and was a lovely chubby baby. I just enjoyed squeezing the rolls of chub around his thighs, and tickling him under his chins! His wrists were so fat he looked like a Michelin man. It was a delightful sensation to hold and cuddle a lovely fat/content baby.

I just love a chubby baby - I want to eat them all up! Or at the very least put piri-piri sauce on those lovely wobbly legs!!!!!!

Does anyone else feel like this? Why do chubby babies make you feel like you have to physically touch/grab the chub? Any ideas? There must be a reason for it.

I have no idea but I feel exactly the same. Dd had barely any chubby and I was very disappointed! I'm pregnant again so I'm keeping my fingers crossed for a chubby one.

Personally very chubby babies give me the creeps.

This might explain it.

My boys were both such little runts..lovely but the smallest and skinniest babies ever.

That article is bizarre.

OP, I know exactly what you mean. Not the peri peri bit but everything else.

DD was a tiny wee thing at birth but within a few months she had 4 chins and her thighs looked like sausages. It was incredible. I used to lie her on my lap and just stroke her rolls.

I love a bonnie baby. Even reading the title of the thread has made me go Ooooh.

You'll like the poem Delicious Babies by Penelope Shuttle.

FunTimes2020 · 18/09/2020 14:37

Personally I don't like to see fat babies. I may be in the minority but we all have our own opinions 🤷

Toddlerteaplease · 18/09/2020 16:04

I'm a paediatric nurse and we frequently joke that we want to eat chubby babies.

Too right!

Sanpro · 18/09/2020 16:19

I don’t understand this at all. I’ve heard people refer to babies as ‘scrummy’ and wanting to eat them. Why?! That’s so fucking weird to me. I cannot relate to it at all.

I don’t like overly fat babies either. It makes me a bit revolted and irritated. Not sure why.

I am a mother by the way, not just a terrible person, honest!

RandomNumberName · 18/09/2020 16:20

No: I am not a cannibal. 😮

I really don't know what you mean!

I did have a chunky first, he had lots of rolls but it just worried me. 🤷🏼‍♀️ (I'm a big worrier)

Dahlietta · 18/09/2020 16:23

Yeah, I'm not a fan of a really fat baby either. I mean, I don't judge them, but slim ones are cuter.

whirlwindwallaby · 18/09/2020 16:24

No, I much prefer slimmer but thriving, active, alert babies.

vanillandhoney · 18/09/2020 16:27

I'm not a fan either, tbh. I don't think they're cute.

AngusThermopyle · 18/09/2020 16:27

I love chubby babies 😁 especially very chuckly ones, my youngest dd & ds (now 25+) were little chubbers.
Nothing like a good raspberry blow on a chubby baby thigh for a chuckle.

Giespeace · 18/09/2020 16:30

DS was only 5lb 3 at birth and I was over the moon when he developed his chub, or as I like to call it, his squidgy bits. Baby squidginess is the best Grin

Mummydaydreams · 18/09/2020 16:30

I love a fat baby, I've got a toddler and a pre schooler who are both ex fat babies and I was pushing them on the baby swings next to a little fat baby today. I couldn't stop looking at her gorgeous rolls and it made me nostalgic/ want another fat baby to cuddle so so much. As if I'm not tired enough I don't know what my brain's trying to do to me!

Confrontayshunme · 18/09/2020 16:35

When my niece was little, she was such a chonk, and my SIL got so defensive if I said anything! She had the most perfect croissant arms and Michelin man thighs. I love it, but SIL was so worried her 7 month old PFB would get an eating disorder that I stopped tickling them and trying to nom her arm. It made me really sad as my family love doing that to babies!

Minesril · 18/09/2020 16:44

My almost six month old has lovely nibble-able chunky thighs! You also have to root about a bit to wash his neck.

My six year old has always been skinny.

They were/are both adorable babies.

(I'd post a pic of ds2's thighs but that might be a bit weird.)

Nousernameforme · 18/09/2020 17:05

Fat babies are active and alert as well ffs. Nobody is saying slim babies aren't cute by the way no need to get snippy.
My youngest had actual little rolls on the back of his neck. He used to scream with laughter if you pretended to eat them.

PablosHoney · 18/09/2020 17:43

Why is it cute for babies to be chubby but not anyone else 😁

whirlwindwallaby · 18/09/2020 18:05

Fat babies are active and alert as well ffs. Nobody is saying slim babies aren't cute by the way no need to get snippy. I wasn't. I was trying to be clear that I meant thriving babies, not undernourished babies ffs. In my experience, leaner babies tend to hit physical milestones earlier though.

The poster wasn't snippy at all. People are allowed to not go goey over fat babies Hmm
