There's a few but one I see often that just makes me Hmm is 'what if they were your kids?'.

It's obviously always said in response to someone who is not the child's parent and therefore surely a completely pointless argument?!

What others do you always see and eye roll at?

OP posts:

"I want to move to Scotland

I'm struggling to put my finger on why these annoy me so much

Yes Scotland is a village. You can move here. It's exactly the same throughout the whole country.

GTF. Or to coin the very common phrase. Get tae fuck"

You forgot to add: "but I'm worried I'll be chased out of town by a baying mob with pitchforks/ burnt at the stake/ crucified for being English"

Bikingbear · 19/09/2020 11:04

Yip the move to Scotland is mental. Scotland has exactly the same issues as everywhere else and lower wages.

Barrowmanfan22 · 19/09/2020 11:04

You sound hard work. Angry

Barrowmanfan22 · 19/09/2020 11:05

Oh and pretend confusion and questions when actually the poster is just having a dig. 'not understanding ' when actually you do you just don't agree. Angry

brushandmop · 19/09/2020 11:11

utterly devastated

utterly heartbroken

utterly exhausted

Wishimaywishimight · 19/09/2020 11:33

Anyone who describes themselves as "too nice" or "a people pleaser" makes me think actually you're just a bit of a wet lettuce...

Stinkyguineapig · 19/09/2020 11:36

Others things that annoy me are
OP: cant manage outgoings/is in massive debt and asking for advice.
Replies: you need to move to a cheaper area
Take in ironing.

Well likely the OP doesnt live in a hugely expensive area (possibly at all) or for no apparent reason (job, school, family etc) and the way people blithely suggest "move to a cheaper area" sort of implies it's a quick fix, that you might be able to manage over a couple of weekends. It costs money to move before you even see any saving!

Setting up an ironing business, getting regular customers etc is also a slow burner.

wildcherries · 19/09/2020 11:39

The people who say that they won't let anyone else use their toilet and seem perplexed that other people own a loo brush.

imfatletsparty · 19/09/2020 11:41

When posters say that someone was SCREAMING at them when actually they just raised their voice a bit.

honigbutter · 19/09/2020 11:44

People who say 'Going against the grain here...' then give an opinion that has been stated umpteen times in the previous hundreds of posts.

PablosHoney · 19/09/2020 11:49

Are you drunk or are you high when you don’t agree with someone, pathetic

PablosHoney · 19/09/2020 11:49

Oh and ‘Vile’

LindaEllen · 19/09/2020 12:05

It's not a saying, but I can't stand the stepmum hate.
You just can't win.
Basically we, as step parents, are expected to treat the children as our own (which I for one certainly do!) and take care of them and spend time with them etc.
However whenever it comes making any decision, or doling out discipline, it's YOU CAN'T DO THAT IT'S NOT YOUR CHILD.
So I'm allowed to do all the cooking and cleaning and washing and ironing and the school runs and read bedtime stories, and clean their cuts when they fall but GOD HELP ME if I tell him he's grounded because HE'S NOT MY CHILD.

That's a personal one to me but I'm sure other stepparents will understand.

chrislilleyswig · 19/09/2020 12:08

Most of these have been mentioned before

Grim
Vile.

I never hear these in real life

And all salads are HUGE
all chilli comes in A MASSIVE POT
Food is always bunged or chucked and descriptions include the one word sentence "Yum".

And grown up people call others mean, rude and horrid for the most ridiculous reasons

But I love it all Grin

DilloDaf · 19/09/2020 12:28

Food is always bunged or chucked...

Reading posts from food chuckers and bungers always makes me laugh. I imagine them prancing around the kitchen to the sound of The Stripper

imfatletsparty · 19/09/2020 12:30

"Food is always bunged or chucked"

Oh god yes. MN kitchens must be a warzone with all the flinging, whacking, throwing, bunging and chucking that goes on. (And that's before we get to the popping...)

nevernotstruggling · 19/09/2020 12:34

End of

msflibble · 19/09/2020 12:43

vile
you sound awful
HTH (said sarcastically)
I always find "we did the deed" a really childish turn of phrase too and it's quite popular on here

LadyH846 · 19/09/2020 12:45

"You need to give your head a wobble." Especially when it's in response to something that requires more than a head wobble.

derxa · 19/09/2020 12:47

Yes Scotland is a village. You can move here. It's exactly the same throughout the whole country Precisely. We never see 'I want to move to England.'

Kanaloa · 19/09/2020 13:21

A mumsnet thing that annoys me is the weird Christmas arguments where people get outraged and then sort of try to outdo each other with how little they will get for their children. Or how much they will get for their children, but I notice the how little ones most.

Viviennemary · 19/09/2020 13:26

Among the worst are folk who have thousands spare at the end of the month and are worried about how they will manage. Or ones whose two week old has a pension scheme and £millions in an ISA. Frankly I think these threads should be banned.

chrislilleyswig · 19/09/2020 13:26

I was thinking about why this got to me so much but that's it!

Scotsnet is full of those. Icing to "Scotland". And as we know life in Portree is diffenrwt from Castle Douglas in the same way that Carlisle and Brighton

chrislilleyswig · 19/09/2020 13:27

Press send too soon
As Carlisle and Brighton have nothing in common

It's so condescending. It really pisses me off
