How much do you end up spending on Botox and fillers per year

I am 45 and beginning to look like hell. I know the price of Botox per thing but don’t know how much it ends up costing per year. How much do you end up sending year in year out? I am a Londoner. Thanks.

@TheoneandObi

I love that all the posters on MN who've had Botox or fillers have natural looking faces and even their husbands don't notice it. Yet I've seen plenty of dodgy examples in the street and on TV. Better class of therapist for MNetters I reckon!
Not everyone goes to a back street beauty salon to have it done. Some of us go to proper registered nurses that have been doing it for yearsGrin Of course you will see bad examples everywhere as some women actually like the over filled look so that’s the aim for them.
Potterpotterpotter · 16/09/2020 09:24

@IdblowJonSnow

I have it occasionally. Once a year or so.

The comments about not moving your face are daft. You can still move your face and no one has ever noticed that I've had it. For me the only downside is that it only lasts a month or two so at a few hundred quid it's really expensive. Having said that, you do wear your face every day!

Have it, dont have it, but the judgement around it is tedious.

It should last more then a month ... you need to go back for a top up which I always have to do.
Branleuse · 16/09/2020 09:27

Its about £200 and lasts about 6 months.
I had it in february and end of august.

S111n20 · 16/09/2020 09:27

Personally non. However Botox is expensive and does need topping up often. Look into plasma blast facelift will save you lots of money over the years and has the same effect as a surgical face lift.

QueSera · 16/09/2020 09:31

Can you try other more natural things first eg good moisturisers, masks, serums, facial exercise, facial massage with jade roller, 'facelift massage', neck exerciser, healthy foods, hydration, try to sleep on your back etc

Catra · 16/09/2020 09:33

May I ask why people in their thirties get it done?

Because I had a deep groove / dint in my forehead, completely at odds with the rest of my fresh face. I'd had this since I was pre-school age, after tripping and hitting my head on a toy toaster! I got Botox to hide this as soon as I could afford it. It's not to make me look younger, nor does it make me look "fake" like some posters have mentioned. Hmm

WhitePumpkin · 16/09/2020 09:42

@Nikhedonia

The "I can always tell" brigade make me chuckle. They really can't. They can tell the botch jobs and the ones that go to far, so can the rest of us! Confused There's no way the tweaks are as easy to spot.
Completely agree! A good practitioner ie. a medical doctor or cosmetic dentist will always use subtle, strategically placed small amounts of botox to achieve good results - no one can tell I've had it, like others I still look like me at my age - just a less angry version of me!

Some of the comments on this thread show a real lack of knowledge on the subject - it's not 'putting botulism in your face' botulism is the illness you get from ingesting the bacteria ffs, and nor is it 'pumping shit into your face' as one poster so delicately put it . . It's a safe and effective substance that's been used since the 1970's. If people choose a reputable, skilled clinician to administer it they are NOT going to look 'plastic'

eaglejulesk · 16/09/2020 09:51

Not a single cent, and I'm 61

I am quite fresh-faced for my age (so far) so maybe people think I've had it when I haven't Grin

netsybetsy · 16/09/2020 09:57

I do not follow celebrity culture but I have seen a few photos of famous women who look frozen-faced. Is that Botox or surgery or what I wonder? They have all the money in the world but some of the results are questionable.

netsybetsy · 16/09/2020 10:00

I also get it in my jaw to stop me grinding my teeth and that has been life changing.

Now that's interesting! I have destroyed my teeth with grinding. This option has never been mentioned to me before. Will need to look into this. £250 a year would be cheaper than my dental bills these days!

Surgery, I suspect. Normal Botox really isn't very dramatic at all.
Snoringferret · 16/09/2020 10:05

I think older women might be much less likely to have it done than younger women tbh especially fillers.

I live in the north east and lip/chin/jaw fillers are so normal here amongst young women that it's almost like they all have the same face.
I think it's quite similar to the rise in tattoos, that it's just become much more available and normalised.

maddy68 · 16/09/2020 10:16

£250 3/4 times a year
Best money I've ever spent but don't have too much. You still need to look natural

EmbarrassedUser · 16/09/2020 10:17

£0

The woman who does my Botox is a dentist and she swears by it.
I had never had it mentioned to me by my normal dentist, and I have had so many mouth guards and exercises etc.

It's amazing, it just stops you being able to clench as hard at night.

thegcatsmother · 16/09/2020 10:39

£0, but I do spend on the Boots 7 firming and anti wrinkle serums. I cannot bear needles, so apart from six monthly blood tests, and the dentist, no hypodermic needles come near me if it can be avoided.

Thanks for the info. I sleep with a guard now but so much damage already done 😫 I read that grinding can even change shape of your jaw eventually so I probably have nothing to lose by trying Botox now.

I find it strange that those who don't want these things feel the need to come on these threads and attack or condescend towards those who do
It feels a bit like the meat eaters attacking people on a vegan thread

MrsCollinssettled · 16/09/2020 11:21

How do you know that it's not noticeable? Most people aren't going to point out that they've noticed. If you are telling people you've had it done they're not likely to tell you that it doesn't look good. People with a vested interest aren't going to tell you if it isn't great either. Genuinely not sure how you can know whether it is noticeable or not.

lilybetsy · 16/09/2020 11:22

probably about £2000 a year. the fillers last ages but cost more when you have them done. Botox only lasts 4-5 months

Im 55, started at 51 and bloody love it. That and decent skin care and I look better & feel better than i did 10 years ago ...

Haenow · 16/09/2020 11:25

I’m embracing the ugliness. Grin I know quite a few people who have Botox regularly and I wouldn’t have known if they hadn’t told me. It can be subtle and people should do what’s right for me.

Heffalooomia · 16/09/2020 11:25

To those who don't have Botox and fillers, why are you so angry with those who do?
What is behind your Impulse to come on this thread and tell us how stupid deluded and ridiculous we are?

It’s nothing to do with looking younger, or more fresh faced, or less angry etc.

I probably couldn’t tell if I didn’t speak to someone with botox. But the minute they open their mouths or move their face I can tell. Always. Your mouth and face makes certain shapes when you talk. Botox means parts of your face don’t move in the same way. It makes it harder to lip read and read facial expression, i almost have to mentally adjust to an accent, geordie, brummie, cockney, botox 😂 all have different mouth movements..

Cloudmonkey · 16/09/2020 11:30

Just to comment on the ‘why don’t men get botox?’ point, I know 4 men who get it. All in their early/mid 40’s. They all look great as well.
