To think they MUST extend furlough in line with other European Countries

Most of the centrist countries are doing 12-24 months.

If they don't do it here for those industries that are hugely affected then we're looking at MASS unemployment, repossessions, huge housing benefit claims...

My OH Had been on furlough the entire time. He started back at work again on the 7th ( last week) and on Friday they all got a letter saying they are now having to do split shifts where they work and are paid full wages for 60-90 minutes every morning and 60-90 minutes every evening. The rest of the time ( Apart from lunch) between 9-3 is paid at 80% and they can go home. We are very lucky in that it doesn't affect us much but plenty of people in the company are gutted as they can't afford the extra travelling costs to travel to the rural depot and back twice a day. So they are either sitting at work for 4-5 hours twiddling their thumbs or getting into debt travelling home and back.

If this www.bbc.co.uk/news/business-54125690 is accurate, we're going to have a massive increase in unemployment. And that's before any job losses because of Brexit.

There were 2.8m unemployed people claiming benefits in June. The numbers in that article would take this to 3.5m, by the end of the year. Some forecasters think Brexit could lead to as many as 1.5m job losses.

The social fallout from unemployment on that scale will be massive, especially as the welfare system is so much less generous now.
