To ask if there's something I'm missing about the allegedly "controversial" Diversity performance

Diversity performed on Britain's Got Talent, a performance which incorporated a message about BLM. Their performance, as usual, was incredible and sent out some great messages. The video is below.

It's had 10,000 complaints. Why?! am I missing something? Did someone's nipple pop out or something? What is the basis of people's complaints? The only reason I can think is that some people (probably because they're part of the problem) don't like it when others point out that there's racism in the world? Boo hoo to them

Yes strawberry that is a shocking statistic, I couldn't find any context though? Whether it was unarmed people or whether the shootings were after someone fired shots first? Obviously that would be relevant because if they are shot at then they would return fire. I'm not of course suggesting that is the case but context is important.

So if black people get murdered by the police, it's probably because they shot first, you see? Because they're black, and black people are violent.

Casual racist apologism of the worst kind.

Keep posting @GetOffYourHighHorse. The more of this stuff you vomit up, the more obvious your repellent views become.

Strawberryraspberryjam
If I remember correctly from another thread, the same poster essentially said we shouldn't concerns ourselves too much with the bad side of the British empire and instead all move on.

There seems to be a lot of posters at the moment who are very keen to minimise or dismiss racism whilst making out that they're the real victims of oppression/that having racist views robustly challenged is apparently silencing white people.

There was a thread deleted yesterday where an OP was lamenting how hard it is being white/why they're fed up with having to apologize for being white.

It feels like there's a sub group of white people who respond to discussions of racism the way incels respond to discussions about women and sexism.

It’s pretty obvious that context doesn’t apply (except the context of the person’s skin colour), considering how many white criminals have committed violent crimes, committed terrorism, shot cops, or gone on mass shooting sprees yet been apprehended by police without any violence and with police in some cases laughing and joking and fetching junk food for said mass shooters.

Thus the argument that police felt so threatened by black men they have no choice but behave with extreme violence is invalid. If you aren’t threatened by a mass shooter because he’s white you don’t get to turn around and claim the scary black man fwitened you by breathing. Or not breathing.

I find this astounding. The bar for white people is so low you could limbo under it.

I was a bit baffled by all the complaints

Aridane · 17/10/2020 07:38

Watched it to see the controversy and still don’t really get why

Good for ITV taking Out whole page newspaper adverts and Standing by Diversity
