Just a bit of fun. I always end up buying similar food items in my weekly shop. Occasionally I’ll try something new and it’s really nice and I’ll continue to buy it. For example last week I bought some balsamic chutney from Morrison’s- it was so good I’ve added it to most sandwich fillings yum 😋

Have you bought anything new recently which you’ve been really impressed with?

@froggygoneacourting

Haven’t RTFT but I recently discovered that frozen sweet potato oven chips taste exactly like restaurant sweet potato chips, and not at all like regular frozen oven chips (which are horrible).

This is only good news if you like sweet potato chips.

We've had mixed experiences of frozen sweet potato chips. Which ones have you found the best?

@ViciousJackdaw

Sainsbury sell some lovely chewy biscuits which are Dutch, I think

The mini Stoopwaffels in the white and blue bag? They're on offer atm, just £1.

@ViciousJackdaw which aisle are these on please ? I absolutely love them.

Tesco frozen Portuguese tarts. Bloody lovely.*
I saw those, but the bag gave cooking instructions; I like mine cold, so do I cook and cool them, or can they just be thawed out?

scaryfrogfish · 13/09/2020 09:17

Tesco Greek/Turkish halva. Just beautiful, and much cheaper than Asda.

alliwantisabitofpeace · 13/09/2020 09:57

@RockingMyFiftiesNot I'm addicted to these.. Hold over your hot tea or coffee so they warm a little and they go a little soft and taste even better. You will find them in the cake Isle in sainsburys

Great thank you - saves me wandering up and down the biscuit aisle to no avail!

Squid square sausage in Morrisons! DH just gone out to buy some. We have them with budget buy cheese slices, and a fried egg, in a toasted bagel. Just like McDonalds ones!

honeygirlz · 13/09/2020 10:25
@honeygirlz I’ve used that paste, it’s lovely!

Quite spicy. I use it to flavour my halloumi fajitas.
Thanks, I’ll give it a try Smile

Ditto @DressesWithPocketsRockMyWorld . I'm making a note of those that interest me under each supermarket in a note in my phone. Possibly one of the saddest thing I've ever written on MNBlush
storminabuttercup · 13/09/2020 10:48

Came on to add Iceland duck spring rolls

ColleagueFromMars · 13/09/2020 10:54

Morrisons jalapeño chilli jam is amazing!

Taifen flavoured tofu in Waitrose is so good I can just eat it straight from the packet

GoodbyePorpoiseSpit · 13/09/2020 10:59

For hard to find stuff I have used this website: www.souschef.co.uk/

I know it’s a supermarket thread but I got some really good tahini from here :)

IToldYouIWasFreaky · 13/09/2020 13:29

My offerings are:
Rhubarb and custard creams from Tesco. Only 40p a pack and they are lush, very rhubarby

Asda do a vegan chargrilled veg and houmous pizza which is about £1.20 and surprisingly tasty. We ate a lot of it over lockdown as it was a quick lunch with lots of salad on the side.

I have a serious thing for peanut butter and my absolute fave is Aldi's wholenut, no added sugar one. It's about half the price of Whole Earth but much tastier, IMHO.

ChicCroissant · 13/09/2020 15:39

I bought the frozen almond croissants today, looking forward to trying them when I'm on my own later this week

Gatekeeper · 13/09/2020 15:55

Morrison's salt & pepper baps- they are delicious just on their own

EvilPea · 13/09/2020 16:02

The fries2go microwave chips.
Really really good, in Iceland (they are £1) they put them in the ready meal section not the Chip section. But all supermarkets sell them.

You won’t believe me as McCain’s ones are so soggy and crap. But they are really good and we use them instead of oven chips.

Aldi fake Nutella is sustainable palm oil. it’s cheaper than Nutella, as nice and has sustainable palm oil. So ok not as good as there being none, but better than nothing.

CoffeeandCroissant · 13/09/2020 16:24

Where do I get the frozen almond croissants 🥐 from please?

RedPanda17 · 13/09/2020 16:55

@CoffeeandCroissant i get mine from Tesco

IndigoApple · 13/09/2020 16:55

Eat Natural dark chocolate and seasalt bars from Sainsburys (on offer at the moment!) are delicious.

Morrisons strawberry cheesecake crunch bites - got us through lockdown!

ssd · 13/09/2020 17:01

Aldi crinkly fries are lovely

BeaLola · 13/09/2020 17:21

I've remembered another recent discovery that I luffs - Bonne Maman Blackcurrant mousse Grin

CoffeeandCroissant · 13/09/2020 17:39

@RedPanda17 Great, thanks, will have a look for them next time I am in Tesco.

@BeaLola I like those but their white chocolate mousse is even nicer, also like the salted caramel desert they do, in fact most of what Bonne Maman make is good, big fan of their blackcurrant jam too.

BeaLola · 13/09/2020 17:47

The Aldi blackcurrant jam is very very good too
