@lastkisstoo - It was in 1989 and Nirvana were doing a European tour following the release of Bleach. It was a double-header with their Sub Pop stablemates, Tad. I went along to cover the tour for a student newspaper, and ended up getting on very well with them, leading to them sticking my name down on the guest list for the rest of the UK tour dates. Kurt was friendly enough but far more introverted than the rest of the crew (it subsequently came out that he was plagued by stomach issues). He'd lie prone while we partied around him. I wish I could remember what we spoke about but truth be told I was too busy having fun, and he was the "boring" one in the corner. Ach, with the benefit of hindsight.... A couple of years later Smells Like Teen Spirit came out, and the rest is, desperately sad, history.

I went in Durham cathedral and a man was handing out leaflets, he asked me about religion, I said I don't really do religion I was brought up catholic and found it a bit much, I'm more interested in the architecture. He laughed and said I don't blame you.

A while later I was watching Prince Harry's wedding and the man was officiating, Justin Welby. I joke to my friends about my mate Justin.

PepperMooMoo · 30/09/2020 21:39

@Itsrainingnotmen how funny! I randomly went clubbing with her one night and she was so fun!!!

Mammylamb · 30/09/2020 22:12

James McAvoy. Long time before he was a Hollywood star. We both grew up in Drumchapel, and my mum would blather to his granny at the shops while we hung about wanting them to hurry up.

ultrablue · 30/09/2020 22:19

Prince Phillip who had me in fits of giggles.

I'd love to have the chance to meet him, we have the same sense of humour

ultrablue · 30/09/2020 23:16

Don't think I could love Antony Stewart Head more!

I've never met him, but always thought that he would be that generous type of person, he just comes over as a lovely caring person

These stories are amazing... But I feel so old sharing mine lol

Back to the 80's now...

John Taylor Duran Duran.. very gracious when he walked into his friends record shop to be besieged by a group of fans... Happened again to the poor guy when he walked in at the same time we were there again the following year.

Tears For Fears.. we met them four times in one day (due to sound checks etc, walking between venue and hotel quicker than them been driven). They obviously then recognised us and posed for photos and Roland laughed and tickled me over it.

Paul Young and The Thompson Twins

Various Aston Villa Players

Now I feel old..

My most recent James D Bradfield (Manic Street Preachers). Won a place at a private gig, was at the last of the queue. So at the back of the crowd.. before I knew it some guys decided that I should be at the front so basically was crowd surfed to the front... Anyway I didn't realize that it was a meet and greet and afterwards found myself speechless and a quivering wreck.. but he was lovely and put me at my ease enough to take a photo

Passthebubbly · 01/10/2020 00:20

Princess Anne Bobby Moore Gallagher bros Majid Nawaz

WriteronaMission · 01/10/2020 01:50

Karl Urban, Antony Starr, Gary Lewis, Graham McTavish, Maria Doyle Kennedy, Colin McFarlane (all of them are absolutely lovely, funny, kind people).

Rufus Sewell can come across as a little brash and rude, but he is very sarcastic and straight to the point, so I think it's more his humor. I personally didn't find him rude but people said to me that he was.

Morgan Freeman - very rude! He homes in on a question he doesn't like and constantly picks on that person instead of just moving on. It was a friend who suffered the brunt of it and wasn't even a bad question from what I remember. He was just so grumpy.

I do press at a lot of conventions so get the chance to meet a fair few people. Really missed the convention circuit this year.

WetdreamBeliever · 01/10/2020 01:56

What would be more interesting would be a thread on celebrities who are absolute cunts.
I'll start it off: Patrick Stewart (Captain Picard) is a grade A cunt. I bumped into him when I was with my wheelchair-bound daughter. "Why are you bringing this child to me?" he said.

I WASN'T YOU CUNT! WE JUST HAPPENED TO BE IN THE SAME PLACE AT THE SAME TIME!

Patrick Stewart is a 100% grade A arsehole.

Can anyone who’s met Peter Kay confirm he’s a rude arsehole? Just something I’ve heard and anyone who’s met Prince,I need details immediately if not sooner!
