Oh and Rusty Lee! She was lovely.

wheresthedoobrey · 16/09/2020 15:43

Annette Crosbie and Carla Lane (at a party on the terrace at the House Of Commons.
Bill Roache and his wife. His wife had far more personality!!
Princess Diana.
Keith Chegwin.
Pat Sharp.
Also had a very interesting encounter with singer Lauryn Hill on Green Park tube station!! She practically begged me to ask for her autograph, and was very disgruntled when I told her I had no idea who she was!!

Isbutteracarb · 16/09/2020 15:56

BikeRunSki · 16/09/2020 17:49

@froggygoneacourting

^ Princess Di (when I was little): very shy.
Prince William: Entitled petulant berk.
Kate Middleton: Like talking to a houseplant.
David Tennant: Lovely but more shy than you’d think. His wife’s a super bitch.
Elton John: Doesn’t know how to use Zoom properly.
Colin Firth: Extremely polite.
Mark Gatiss: Kinda rude.
Matthew McFayden: Very rude.
Christopher Eccleston: Amazing!
James Purefoy - consumes with bitterness that he’s not Colin Firth.
David Attenborough- amazing!^

No!!l. Please don’t tell me Mathew Macfadyen was rude Sad. What did he say/do?

IntermittentParps · 21/09/2020 12:08

I've read that about Mathew Macfadyen on here before. Possibly from the same poster but I can't remember.
Bit disappointing; I like him as an actor.

TheYeaSayer · 21/09/2020 12:57

Michael Sheen and Ray Winstone are both very lovely.

Marti Pellow - fun and nice, but loves himself!

Katinski · 21/09/2020 13:45

Here's a nice little snapshot of David Attenborough....

We were on the same flight, 1stclass, so disembarked first, and he was met on the runway by Jane his wife, whom he gathered in his arms, lifted up and gave her a huge hug and a smackeroo.

She died in the late 70s, I think. He never re-married.

ddl1 · 21/09/2020 15:17

I don't know if these would be counted as universally famous, but I've met several people who are/were well known in the field of children's literature: Philip Pullman, Frances Hardinge, Antonia Forest, (as a child) Philippa Pearce.

Wherearefoxssocks · 21/09/2020 15:18

Brian May. Genuinely the loveliest man!

IntermittentParps · 21/09/2020 15:19

Philip Pullman
Frances Hardinge
Shock SURELY they're universally famous? Especially Pullman.
I'm quite envious of both of them. I love The Lie Tree.

JaffaJaffJaffpussycatpuss · 21/09/2020 15:48

Prince Charles

RainbowReader · 21/09/2020 16:11

Michelle Obama. I was living in the US organising donors for a community project in Chicago, and she wanted to be one of them.
You'll hopefully be happy to hear she is the most self effacing, down to earth woman. Very athletic and beautiful. Her hair was amazing. Her phone pinged at one point during the meeting and she said 'Ugh, sorry, my husband wants Taco Bell' Grin

MinesaBottle · 21/09/2020 16:23

Sir Ranulph Fiennes did some filming at my old workplace - met him v briefly, very firm handshake. On a less polite note I reached between Emma Thompson and her daughter to grab some perfume in Liberty - I didn’t realize they were together at first and then was v apologetic! They were lovely about it.

DH met Bob Geldof years ago at a student exhibition where one of DH’s friends and one of Sir Bob’s daughters were both showing work. They ended up propping up the (free) bar together all evening as they both thought the exhibition was crap...DH had a great time setting the world to rights but sadly can’t remember much detail, funnily enough.

GaryWilmottsTeeth · 21/09/2020 16:25

Ranulph Fiennes - lovely but slightly terrifying
Helena Bonham Carter - beautiful and tiny
Mick Jagger - wrinkly and tiny
Bear Grylls - slightly arrogant and whiny
David Attenborough - grumpy (but i would forgive him an awful lot)
Michael Palin - hilarious and lovely (met many times through work)
Bill Clinton - i was a teenager, i shook his hand and got totally star struck. He was very tall and sunburned.

IntermittentParps · 21/09/2020 16:40

Her phone pinged at one point during the meeting and she said 'Ugh, sorry, my husband wants Taco Bell'

Like I didn't already love her enough!

@IntermittentParps

I found the photo of Cher and my Aunt near the Boardwalk in Atlantic City, NJ! I might have had a few of the details wrong in my pp, but as you can see, Cher is just beautiful. I didn't realize how young the girls were and I didn't know that the blonde woman was in the photo and that it's Cher's sister...so my mom's sister and Cher's sister are in the photo..mom's only regret was that she didn't get a photo of herself with Cher. Btw, mom said Cher kissed the little girls on the cheeks and that's when mom said to her, " you are so full of love" to which Cher replied," That's all there is."Smile
Yes, my aunt DOES actually dress to the 9's to go for a walk on the boardwalk.
Another note, my mom just told me that when they watched Cher lefted to go to her rehearsal, her son Elijah Blue was in the Limo with her.
Lol, I wonder if Cher was appearing at Donald Trump's HotelGrin

Sweetpea1532 · 26/09/2020 17:45

@IntermittentParps,
I couldn't attach the photo until I cropped out the children's faces...
But I'm kind of glad I didn't because while I was cropping the photo, my mum told me additional details of how amazing Cher is. The concert she was giving wasn't for the general public. It was a free concert for 1000"s of employees. This story just keeps on giving...
