I read the DM comments section and just feel throughly depressed.

Racism is not a political thing.

Are we really that racist as a nation?

Seriously do not go near DM. I felt the same too until I cut it out and never went back on (not to browse, nothing). Just avoid it. You won't miss it. Not decent people. Very dark insight into the lowest common denominator.

The uk probably is racist as a nation (indirect racism) but daily mail commenters are a special breed of crazy. I think they just try to be as nasty as possible for shock value, especially as they have anonymity. It’s just like 4chan or Reddit, but used by middle aged Brits instead

It is depressing but the few times I’ve done it I’ve also been shocked at the ignorance and general stupidity.

Quite frankly, if I encountered someone so evidently thick in real life I wouldn’t pay much attention to their opinions, I’m not going to value their thoughts online.

They are the guy shouting random shit through a traffic cone in a bleak town centre. Eye roll and move on.

Sadly, most of the world is racist from what I've seen and often more openly than we are.

My Thai friend is lovely in general but was surprised to find that she doesn't like black people.

My Sikh friend hates Muslims.

Polish and Italian former workmates are also racist.

Have spoken with Japanese people who looked down on POC.

It's depressing.

Sadly people who are racist, sexist etc are often proudly vocal about their beliefs.

Racism is a huge problem on MN, racism on the daily mail sadly shouldn’t be a shock.

The DM comments section only attracts the scum from the deepest darkest depths of the Mariana Trench. The stuff that even the most disgusting bottom feeders won't eat which is why I love reading them
