I would say currently it's Geoff from Corrie.

Jem in the Chalet School books! Falstaff in 'Henry IV Part 1' - actually everyone in 'Henry IV Part 1'. but the rest aren't fictional.

cheeseislife8 · 06/09/2020 17:24

What on earth is wrong with Hagrid?

Andi Macdowell's character in Four Weddings. Grr

BacklashBacklash · 06/09/2020 17:25

Julian from the Famous Five.

FenellaVelour · 06/09/2020 17:25

Most of these. And Mr Poppy from Nativity.

RudeAF · 06/09/2020 17:26

Sara Tancredi from Prison Break. America’s dimmest doctor.

ClementineWoolysocks · 06/09/2020 17:26

Fleabag.
Bridget Jones and all those similar chick-lit characters, being perpetually late, unorganised and useless isn't endearing or funny it's just fucking annoying.

Pagwatch · 06/09/2020 17:27

the mum of the boy from about a boy

Posy was not sugar pink. She was ruthless, and self-obsessed, and would have thrown anybody under the bus if it improved her dancing. But a love of/obsession with ballet is not pink in the slightest.

SignOnTheWindow · 06/09/2020 17:28

If you've ever read Alexander McCall Smith's Isabel Dalhousie books, then I hope you'll agree that she is extraordinarily annoying. And we're supposed to buy that she edits a philosophy magazine, despite her philosophical musings being mundane drivel.

EineReiseDurchDieZeit · 06/09/2020 17:28

Annabeth Schott on West Wing but a big yes to Amy also.

Mandy actress was hard done by. The actress was solely brought in as a love interest for Josh but there was no chemistry and they just binned her and never mentioned her existence again.

Sorkin is not a great writer of women

And then there's Andy, so great until what she did near the end, and then there's Ainsley and a really awful episode where she is used to defend male objectification.

Casual Workplace Sexism and homophobia have dated the West Wing more than anything else

recklessruby · 06/09/2020 17:29

Everyone from The Little House On The Prairie

Carouselfish · 06/09/2020 17:32

That Ugly Betty person.
Anyone in Desperate Housewives.

Pagwatch · 06/09/2020 17:34

Yes, the actress playing Mandy was poorly served. Mandy was badly written - can you imagine having to deliver the line 'look at how smart and cute i am?' but she was still annoying at hell.

sorkin really struggles to write women well yet still got great characters and performances out of Cj, Mrs Barlett and mrs Landigham.
The west wing is now quite clearly a dated piece but it stands up better than most

recklessruby · 06/09/2020 17:35

Rachel Lynde in the Anne of Green Gables books. A pain in the arse nosy know it all and a great big gossip.
Also Diana. A bit wet and too good next to the great character of Anne.
