I would say currently it's Geoff from Corrie.

OP posts:
Dee1975 · 06/09/2020 19:49

Peppa pig ...

Cocolapew · 06/09/2020 19:51
@Cocolapew omg, it put me off watching The Fall. Try too hard sexy breathy crap. The whole thing was style over substance
I manfully carried on for Jamie

LakieLady · 06/09/2020 19:51

Peggy Archer: sexist, racist, manipulative, snobby and judgmental.

IceniSky · 06/09/2020 19:54

Rick Grimes

IceniSky · 06/09/2020 19:56

Mr Tumble

TillyTheTiger · 06/09/2020 19:56

April Kepner from Grey's Anatomy.
Bing, Peppa and Noddy are all dreadful but Mr fucking Tumble is worse.
Joffrey Baratheon from GoT.

okletsdothis · 06/09/2020 19:56

@FastnetLundyRockall

And yes to Mandy in West Wing but also Amy in West Wing.
Hard yes to both of these. Genuinely unbearable to watch, I have to skip their scenes.

Joey from Dawson's Creek
Carter from ER
Meredith from Grey's Anatomy
Pheoebe from Friends

TheSeedsOfADream · 06/09/2020 19:56

Marius in Les Mis. Though that may be because he is always played by a drip whilst Enjolras always has me coming over unnecessary whoever plays him.

DanielRicciardosSmile · 06/09/2020 19:58

Every single character from the novel Atonement - there isn't a redeeming feature among the lot of them!

@MarieIVanArkleStinks yes! Glad someone agrees with me on this - I've never hated literally everyone in a book before I read that.

NancyPickford · 06/09/2020 19:59

St John Rivers in Jane Eyre.

Amelia in Vanity Fair.

Ashley in GWTW.

Mr Bennet in P&P - he totally abdicates his parental responsibility, everyone hates Mrs Bennet, but she's desperately trying to secure her daughters' future, while he skulks in his library.

EBearhug · 06/09/2020 20:00

Peter from the Secret Seven - sexist snob who isn't nearly as clever as he thinks he is. He only gets to be chief because its his shed. They should have chucked him out, made Janet leader and let the spirited Suzy join.

I reread them recently, and I wondered how they ended up with Peter as leader. At least in the FF, Julian is oldest, which as a child, made sense.

Plussizejumpsuit · 06/09/2020 20:01

Will from the archers. Or perhaps David from the Archers.

Lewylen Davis from the film inside Lewylen Davis.

nildesparandum · 06/09/2020 20:05

Stacey and Kat Slater from Eastenders
Gemma from Corrie
Also both of David Copperfield's wives. The first one for being so spoilt immature and useless and the second for being too prissy perfect.

ErrolTheDragon · 06/09/2020 20:06

Star Trek: I can't decide between Q and Lwaxana Troi

dementedma · 06/09/2020 20:06

Cosette in Les Mis. Sappy and wet. Eponine was much feistier

RegularHumanBartender · 06/09/2020 20:10

Absolutely yes to Dawn bloody Summers. Worst character ever. I was rooting for Glory the whole time.

Any simpery female lead in naff chick lit. Grandma/Aunt Maud dies and leaves the bakery in Cornwall/sweetie shop in Yorkshire/florist in Cotswolds. Simpery female lead quits office job in Landan tawn, packs up her 1 bed flat in Soho (how's she paying for that?!) and drives her knackered old beetle/mini to Cornwall/Yorkshire/Cotswolds.

The kid in "The Sixth Sense" film. The actor always plays the same role - a very annoying kid/robot kid

You can't have seen him in What We Do In The Shadows then 😄 He plays a zombie vampire's familiar and is hilarious 😅

AuntMasha · 06/09/2020 20:13

I can’t think of any young female characters in Dickens who are anything other than soppy, useless, simpering, dripfests quite frankly. I don’t think Dickens actually liked real women all that much.

Even in her day, Little Nell was regarded as having done the only decent thing when she finally dropped brown bread.

shartsi · 06/09/2020 20:13

Brianna Randall Fraser Mackenzie (will you ever be warm to your father?)

StrawberrySquash · 06/09/2020 20:13

Becky Bloomwood drives me insane because every book is the same; she doesn't develop as a character. Still read them though!

I found Lorelai Gilmore infuriatingly ditsy at first, but learnt to like her. The difficulty with Emily is that you can't have her parents being all that terrible or you wouldn't want the rapprochement. I actually find Emily a terribly tragic character a lot of the time because she wants her relationship with her daughter to be better, but she just can't let go of these things that don't actually matter.

AGoatAteIt · 06/09/2020 20:14

Grace from Will and Grace
Peppa pig
Ross from friends
Bran Stark
Carrie and Charlotte from SATC- love Samantha and Miranda though

Nicelunch25 · 06/09/2020 20:14

Norman price

NotEvenTheKing · 06/09/2020 20:16

@Rumblebear

Bella Swann
First that came to my mind Grin
Single2catsand1daughter · 06/09/2020 20:18

Elsa from Frozen.

StrawberrySquash · 06/09/2020 20:19

Also are we talking annoying as in you wish they weren't in the book because reading about them is ugh. Or annoying as in you enjoy their annoyingness. So Mr Collins in P&P I enjoy his awfulness. Kirk in GG OTOH, I just find so awkward it makes me uncomfortable so he adds nothing to the show for me. Jess is the other person I'd get rid of there. No time for him at all!

Porcupine83 · 06/09/2020 20:24

Victor Frankenstein and Bing.
Both massively annoying, self absorbed, whiny and entitled.
