AIBU to think Lauren Goodger needs help and filters are dangerous

As above, there have been new pics of LG today looking different, possibly new surgery or possibly backgrid have gone too far with their tweeks. I'm not interested in her life before anyone starts that and she can have as much surgery as she likes as long as she can mentally cope with it.

..and thats where my AIBU sits. Do you think girls like LG are promoting unacceptable physical attainment by constantly filtering and messing with their pics? I'm really wary of filters and not because I don't need them (see username) but because I think they mess with your head.

I can't see things ending well for her. Won't it all get too much?

Plussizejumpsuit · 03/09/2020 16:06

I just Googled her. I feel torn because I feel women should be allowed to do what they want but on the other hand I feel she's making herself look like a blow up doll. Which is really just about appealing to the male gaze. I'm also not sure about how ethical I think it is to do that to a person. Those lip fillers are something else, but it's a look people aspire to🤷.

Kittykat93 · 03/09/2020 16:11

Can't believe she photoshopped that picture of her and her dad... She looks bout six years old in that photo why the hell is she giving herself highlights and full plumped up lips ffs. It's really sad.

Ginfordinner · 03/09/2020 16:13

MaskingForIt I think the point the OP is trying to make is the image LG projects to young girls who think that having normal size lips and boobs is inadequate.

I don't care what LG is doing to herself, but I do care that thousands of teenage girls feel inadequate because people like her have a lot of artificial enhancements and portray this as normal.

BusterTheBulldog · 03/09/2020 16:13

I think everyone should be allowed to do what they want and a bit of Botox / filler etc is fine. I don’t understand though, when you get to the massive face situation why no one steps in?

Lauren’s photoshop skills are certainly skilled though, the bridesmaid pic is crazy!

littlealexhorne · 03/09/2020 16:15

The industry needs far greater regulation, and that includes considering whether the psychological reasons for having procedures are rational and healthy.

100% this, I think its crazy that people can just walk in off the street in some cases and have procedures done. I think I saw something recently saying we have much weaker regulations than a lot of other countries?

DrDetriment · 03/09/2020 16:16

Poor girl. She looks awful. I hope someone gets her the help she needs.

lioncitygirl · 03/09/2020 16:23

She used to be so pretty - it kind of all when downhill when she broke up with mark - I felt she almost tried to re-invent herself to show him what he was missing and then he ended up with MK who is quite stunning and it all went downhill for LG. Sad really - also sad none of her friends are attempting to help her.

SunshineCake · 03/09/2020 16:23

TBH I am more worried about you *@Fatworthlesscow calling yourself that Sad.

But yes, someone needs to stage an intervention and I hate how some young girls are growing up thinking people like her are to aspire too. I am also sick of seeing Rhian someone posing in her knickers. Apparently it helps her grief at failing to conceive Confused.

lioncitygirl · 03/09/2020 16:24

I mean - she’s even alters her childhood pictures.... she does need help

Slippersandgin · 03/09/2020 16:26

Where is she a celeb from? Genuine question Blush

Just asked on my group chat and nobody knows who she is Confused

SchadenfreudePersonified · 03/09/2020 16:27

Maybe come off Instagram and focus on the real world for a bit!

Unfortunately these "celebrities" posting on instagram have a serious impact on young girls in the "real world".

They destroy our young girls' confidence in themselves, and encourage them to chase after an impossible dream of "perfection" by saying "this is what a woman must look like".

I feel sorry for any woman who is so unhappy with herself that shehave to turn herself into parody of women - into pornographic sex objects over-emphasising all of the feminine features. However, I feel more sorry for young girls who have these parodies paraded in front of them, and who feel pressured to emulate them.

mistermagpie · 03/09/2020 16:30

I used to watch TOWIE back in the day and remember her from that. I was looking at her Instagram recently after seeing the thing about her editing photos of herself as a child and it looks like she is now engaged in some sort of subscription service where you can pay to see (presumably naked, because really, what else is left?) photos of her and interact with her. No idea what it really is but it sounds awful and pretty much porn.

I really think she is quite mentally unwell and her agent/managers etc should be taking better care of her.

There are so many of these young women, the geordie shore ones are all the same, who are destroying their faces and bodies with plastic surgery and then filtering the fuck out of all their photos anyway. It must really mess with your head.

Thirtyrock39 · 03/09/2020 16:31

She was an original towie cast member to the pp who doesn't know her and since leaving is always on the front covers of gossip mags
She was quite likeable in the first few episodes but from day one the programme focuses on her looks- eg there was an episode where the cast watched the first episode back and Mark Wright commented on her negatively - can't remember what he said but I felt really bad for her
She was naturally pretty but does seem to have been a bit ruined by fame- I'm shocked she's not in touch with her family she was really close with her sisters in the show - at one point there was talk. Of a kardashians style show about them
( I am well aware I know way to much about trashy tv shows!!)

Slippersandgin · 03/09/2020 16:32

Maybe come off Instagram and focus on the real world for a bit!

Girls killing themselves to look like these Photoshopped nobodies IS real life.

It’s most definitely “real life” for many parents who have had to attend their children’s funerals.

HTH

WhatamessIgotinto · 03/09/2020 16:32

I feel sorry for her. I think she has massive self-esteem issues. When she edited the photos of herself as a child, she also photoshopped her own dad to make him 'better looking'. I find it very worrying when young people (or anyone) constantly filter their photos and pump themselves full of god knows what because they don't like what they see in the mirror. It's sad.

VacMan · 03/09/2020 16:32

Try googling Aubrey O'Day, she has photoshopped herself a whole new person.

VacMan · 03/09/2020 16:33

No idea who she is btw, just noticed it on Daily Fail.

Angelina82 · 03/09/2020 16:33

Yes I think it is very sad that she (and quite a few other celebs) have turned themselves into monstrosities with all the unnecessary work they have had done to their faces and bodies, and think that it is very likely to be down to a mental illness. I think their surgeons have a helluva lot to answer for and something should be done to stop those unethical bastards from raking it in from vulnerable people.

kursaalflyer · 03/09/2020 16:34

The bridesmaid photo is WEIRD. Even the dad's lips are fuller!
I wonder who on earth finds this parody of women's bodies attractive? Surely not the woman herself. What sort of man wants a woman as a lifemate with this freaky body and face? Only porn obsessed men with no chance of a decent relationship I suppose. Can't think of anyone else. Sad to see.

Fatworthlesscow · 03/09/2020 16:34

Aww thank you Flowers, dont worry, I am going through a bad time at the moment (and thats how I feel) but I'm okay. Mumsnet is a distraction.

Doggybiccys · 03/09/2020 16:35

LG is morphing into Pete burns. She photoshopped her dad in the pics PPs have mentioned to give him much bigger lips. Very sad.

amijustparanoidorjuststoned · 03/09/2020 16:36

I think you should all stop judging her and let her do whatever she wants.

Whilst you may mean well (though I am sceptical) you have taken the time to post a thread on an online, public form essentially scathing a celebrity. Remember what happened in February when people did that?

Also, most people do use filters. Life goes on. It doesn't mean you should be sectioned for it Confused.

UnacceptableOrNot · 03/09/2020 16:38

99% of people in the public eye have had surgery, fillers, botox or 'tweaks' of some kind. Even those that still look pretty much the same as they always have done. I was convinced Kourtney Kardashian hadn't had much, if any, work done, but was reading an article the other day about her having had numerous nose jobs (they showed photo evidence of how her nose has changed), and surgery on her eye lids as well as numerous other things. And that's someone who doesn't look particularly plastic!

SophieGiroux · 03/09/2020 16:39

I stopped buying Closer magazine because every single week without fail there would be a 2 page spread about her when there was nothing worthwhile to write about!
