DP currently working away, this is an ongoing thing for a while, back at weekends.

He told me earlier that one of the employees got angry and swore at the receptionist where they’re working. The person has now been removed from the job but DP got bollocked for it as he is also responsible for supplying staff. The guy DP works for asked DP to buy the receptionist some flowers as an apology, which he did.

I’m feeling a bit odd about all this as he’s working away and now buying other women who work there flowers. I completely understand that something needed to be done by way of an apology but FLOWERS?! Wouldn’t some chocolate or wine have been ok?

Would like to point out that DP was under no obligation to follow through and buy flowers exactly, he could have bought anything else.

Am I being a bit ridiculous here?

Trust your instinct that ol adage only works if you’re sensible & able to have a balanced approach
If your constant instinct is suspicion and jealousy then you’ll be inclined to that conclusion
No one on mn ever applies that to a man. Only us women are assumed to have attuned spidey sense

I know you've already agreed that you were BU OP and I agree but maybe it's just because you're missing him around while he's away as well?

OscarWildesCat · 03/09/2020 14:19

What did you expect him to do, he was asked to buy her flowers to apologise on behalf of the company for upsetting someone?. YABVU if you think there’s anything more than that in it unless there is a massive drip feed coming. Jeez, some people are massively insecure!.....

JoeCalFuckingZaghe · 03/09/2020 14:22

Exactly how many days of sleep do you miss to start thinking this is unreasonable?

2bazookas · 03/09/2020 14:24

He did what his boss asked and no doubt the cost of the flowers was paid for by office expenses and they were delivered by florist.

I don';t see any problem.

I am sure you heard enough now op. I am on the recieving end from husband's director. It's a favour we did for the company. No one ever thought about it being something more than just an appreciation! And that bunch of flowers no doubt is the most expensive one I ever recieved!
