id like to think that when i come on here for a quick chat im talking to other women. ive noticed some men on here and thats actually putting me off. some of the topics we talk about are very intimate. i cant understand why men would want to come on this website, maybe the name should be changed to parentnet. aibu.

2hot2cook, some of the men on this site have been here for years! Do you think you can just walk into a club, join up and then tell some of the life-long members you'd prefer if they left? Bloody cheeky of you!

2hot2cook · 06/10/2007 22:21

lyra; i know impossibe, but its a nice idea. im not anti man or anything, & i know you never really know who your talking to on any website. but i would never ask a man ive never met for parenting advice. its just different when your talking to a woman.

to all male mn users, im sure your all lovely, but sometimes women want things to themselves.

2shoescreepingthroughblood · 06/10/2007 22:23

why would you not ask a man for parenting advice? sorry don't understand

LyraSilvertongue · 06/10/2007 22:23

Not MN women, 2hot, just you. Perhaps it's time to take yourself elsewhere.

2hot2cook · 06/10/2007 22:23

snaf; yes, but im a woman.

OP posts:
Carmenere · 06/10/2007 22:23

But not the women on mn generally so as I said earlier perhaps a differnt website would suit you better.

Snaf · 06/10/2007 22:23

Ummm, 2hot. You have here over 400 posts telling you that's rubbish. Have you actually read any of them?

LyraSilvertongue · 06/10/2007 22:24

Anyway, on MN when you're asking for parenting advice, you're not asking any specific person but MN as a whole, women and men alike.

bobsmum · 06/10/2007 22:24

I don't believe you're a woman tbh.

LyraSilvertongue · 06/10/2007 22:25

So it's ok to have no life if you're a woman?

ha ha still going!

in an attempt to make myself more manly I'm going to watch the boxing now.

TheArmadillo · 06/10/2007 22:25

I think the silence from BObsmum should tell you something bobsdad is the only one for her - their names match and everything. Someone with a name like Elvis never had a chance.

I'm sorry, sometimes the truth hurts, but it's always better in the long run. Plenty more fish in the sea mate and all that. DOn't take it too hard.

prettybird · 06/10/2007 22:26

We'll, we've alwready suggested babyworld and babycentre as more "fluffy" sites that might be more suitable for yoiu.

We're more grown up and mature here and actually like getting a spectrum of opnions, not matter the sex of the poster.

(Dh is sitll typing away - god knows what he's going to post! )

BecauseImWereWolfit · 06/10/2007 22:26

OMG - so many people are being so polite with you 2hot.

This is not a site for women only. It will never be so. End of.

So stop posting and go and find somewhere else.

GodzillasHorriblyHairyBumcheek · 06/10/2007 22:27

I was going to write a long post in defense of all men on mumsnet (as i did realise there are male posters from day one, by the 'men's room' topic - it makes it fairly obvious), but i am just stumped. People can find messages in mumsnet by googling - anyone can read them! If you want privacy go sit somewhere in RL with a load of people you can see are women! Otherwise you are SO in the wrong place.

SueBarooeeooeeooooo · 06/10/2007 22:28

There are things that I prefer to be women-only, to be fair. I'm not that excited about mixed communal changing rooms. I prefer a female nurse if I'm having a smear done.

But conversation? In public? I'm a bit baffled, unless you were someone who had very specific religious views that you totally over-interpreted.

TheKing · 06/10/2007 22:29

Well, since my baby left me,
I found a new place to dwell.
Its down at the end of lonely street
At heartbreak hotel.

I can take a hint bobsmum.

I shall set my sights on that there 2hot2cook momma....woah she's hot to trot!

Rachmumoftwo · 06/10/2007 22:29

I must admit to being quite shocked. If anyone has a problem discussing 'intimate' issues with dads, why are they comfortable posting on a site full of strangers?
Dads are parents too, and have just as much to offer as mums. My DH is the one to pick my kids up from school while I am still at work, he reads with them, cooks their tea, and if he wanted to chat on mumsnet you would be unreasonable in not welcoming him with open arms. As it happens, Match of the Day is on, so he won't be joining us anytime soon!

TheArmadillo · 06/10/2007 22:31

2hot and Elvis sitting in a tree
K-I-S-S-I-N-G
First comes love, then comes marriage
Then comes 2Hot with a baby carriage.

Elvis is definately all man, and not afraid to post on a parenting site either - what does that tell you huh

2hot2cook · 06/10/2007 22:31

admitted defeat on this ages ago, but i am entitled to my views. not comfortable talking to men on here. whats the big deal.

no, im not suggesting all the men that have been here years should leave, i never said that. im not suggesting women are any better at parenting than men, IM just not happy talking to men, no big deal. nothing will change, we've debated it. end of.

OP posts:
bobsmum · 06/10/2007 22:31

Dh also wants to post something very rude. I'm not letting him offend your delicate sensibilities.

He's actually quite shocked that women have been allowed to not only read, but post on his cable tv forum. He's campaigning now to have women banned from t'whole world wide interweb. Send 'em back to the kitchen!!!
