Water slide wrecked expensive swimsuit /(

Just that really. Went on one of those water slides with a rubber ring today and when I got to the end I had a bruised back and a hole in my swimming costume (expensive)!. I’m pretty gutted tbh.

To be fair, there were instructions on the wall to say to Try to keep your bum off the floor of the slide, and I did try to do this; but the force of the water was pretty intense and I was finding it hard to do - I was being really shoved around like a rag doll by the water (it was one of those ones that pushes you Along).

But surely- a hole in my costume? More than one hole actually - there are two.

Is this my fault, or not?

I have sent an email to the bosses but I’m not sure what kind of response I’ll get.

How are you supposed to slide down if not on your bum?
You position yourself on the ring so your arse isn’t shoved All the way through it and out the other side.

If your arse is through the other side and on the slide you’re in the ring wrong, you sort of lay on it with your arse resting in the middle.

The op must have had her arse all the way through it, and not resting on top, bum wedged slightly in and holding the sides.

Wasn't there a newspaper article a few years ago, about an expensive swimsuit that was dry clean only and you couldn't wear in the water? Grin

Not all costumes are equal.

I was trying VERY hard not to have my arse on the slide. But the water was throwing me around so it wasn’t as easy as it sounds to maintain.

It's a water slide. They're not going to put up signs saying things like
"Beware... your £sillyamount swimsuit will get holes in it."

Just accept that your expensive swimsuit is not up to the rigours of a water based holiday . Maybe only for lounging by the pool.
Next time wear a cheaper and probably more robust costume when going in splash parks.

I always wear a pair of board shorts over the top of my costume to go on water slides, otherwise I'd be paranoid that my arse would be hanging out by the bottom! Would recommend that in the future, saves any damage. Shame to ruin a nice costume!

Expensive swimsuits are imo meant for lounging around the pool not actually getting wet or going down water slides.

It didn’t say that your clothes might be wrecked if You didn’t.

They shouldn’t have to spell out everything that could possibly go wrong if you don’t heed their warning.

You chose to wear that swimsuit and you chose to go on a water slide with it. The responsibility is all yours.

Good to point it out to company just in case it needs maintenance, my ds at 5 needed 6 stitches after cutting his head open on a slide.

I’m sure you’re right re the costume and in a normal year I wouldn’t have worn it but I’ve had no chance to wear it Any other time, like by a pool, due to lockdown!

If it’s that expensive is it even meant to be in the water? Herve Leger had a swimsuit a few years ago that came with a warning against using in water.

You really emailed the attraction to ask for a refund on your swimming costume for an activity you chose to do? Wow, that is full on batshit crazy. Is this really what people do in 2020?

Leave a review for the costume warning others. Get a cheap one for water slides.

I used to love water parks but last time I went to Turkey I went on a water slide that said to sit up in the slide. I was dubious as I thought the force would make me lie down, and I was right. The ride was so fast I smacked my head so hard that I couldn’t stand up in the pool and the guard had to get me out. Never again. I asked ex to take me to a doctor as the pain was bad and I may have concussion. He refused, saying don’t be silly Sad . We flee home the next day and I went to the GP who said I probably did have concussion Sad

How many wears did you get out of the suit? I would be gutted too. Debenhams have 70% sale on swimwear today if you need a new one.

Blimey, I’d be bummed out. Not sure I could be arsed to ask the company to get to the bottom of it though. But definitely sounds like you are getting a rough ride with this.

My advice is to pour yourself a gin-bottoms up

For the record; the manager said that it shouldn’t have ripped the costume- she said That there must have been something sharp that shouldn’t have been there and that a slide shouldn’t rip a costume.
