Am just watching an old Masterchef episode and one of the contestants is doing Greek food that I’ve never heard of.
It also got me thinking about when a friend cooked me something called pinacculty (if that’s how it’s spelled)?

Tell me about your lesser known local food specialities.

The signature food of Hull.

I remember it fondly! Didn't it start at Yankee Burger?

Soup and chips anyone?

OMG yes!

I was also brought up with pancakes as a savoury food. My mum used to make a lamb stew (which I hated) but before that we had pancakes with the liquid from the stew poured over.

Leicester has a virtually unique cuisine due to the number of 'Ugandan Asians', you had people whose parents or grandparents had moved from India to Uganda, had not been able to get many ingredients so adapted local ingredients, then in 1972 when they were expelled from Uganda a large number ended up in Leicester where they could not get African ingredients.

@Bluesheep8 Yankee burger. There's a blast from the past.

drcoconut is it still there, I wonder...? I remember it having a car on the roof, it was a real landmark

Yankee burger closed around 2005. Yes it had a Cadillac on the roof.
