To ask for help to name a puppy?

Please!

This little one - she's a Hungarian Vizsla - needs a name and I can't decide. I'm down to the final two, love both and just can't choose so please if you can tell me which you'd prefer I'd really appreciate it! The two names are:

Aster
Róise (ro-sha)

I'm Irish and currently have one Gaelic named dog and have had another in the past, but I also just love the name Aster.

I've name changed for this as anyone who I'm FB friends with will definitely recognise me Grin

Aww she's beautiful. I think she looks like an Aster 😊

Almostlegible · 01/09/2020 19:52

Roise

MadeForThis · 01/09/2020 19:55

Roisé.

HazelBite · 01/09/2020 19:57

Why are you not giving her an Hungarian name?

Dreamersandwishers · 01/09/2020 20:01

She’s a beauty. Such gorgeous dogs. Both lovely names. With my boy, (lab) we called out our favourite 2 names, the one he reacted to became his. Mind you he’s good at ignoring it if he feels like it.

Raise! Beautiful dog

Nyclair · 01/09/2020 20:03

sorry, roise. Damn auto correct!

Tenner · 01/09/2020 20:04

no idea about Irish names but she looks like she got attitude. Lovely pup.

WisestIsShe · 01/09/2020 20:05

I love vizla's! Gorgeous dogs

Backtoschoolnotsoonenough · 01/09/2020 20:06

Verity the Vizla..

WaltzingBetty · 01/09/2020 20:08

Call her something you really love - you'll be bellowing it loudly as she disappears into the distance in a few months Grin
Lovely dogs. Would never want to live with one. Bonkers

DiseasesOfTheSheep · 01/09/2020 20:09

Aster, definitely. Lovely pup.

Polnm · 01/09/2020 20:10

Aster sounds like a boy

NameThatPuppy · 01/09/2020 20:11

@WaltzingBetty my main breed is Working Cockers but I've had a Vizsla before. I'm a qualified R+ dog trainer and all my dogs have been/are working gundogs so I'm sure she'll keep me on my toes but I think we'll be ok! 😄

@HazelBite

Why are you not giving her an Hungarian name?
The Hungarian names I really like are already in use for one of her relatives. Her breeder uses Hungarian names and has multiple generations of dogs, and I don't really want to just copy her mum/gran/aunts' names.

*above should just say 'in use for her relatives'.

She needs a Hungarian name. How about one of the glamorous Gabor sisters?

I'd go with Róise, though Aster is nice, too.

I prefer pet names that start with a consonant. They feel easier to call for some reason. Thinking back, all my dogs have had names that start with consonants.

Corono · 01/09/2020 20:32

She looks like a Mairéad to me!

Gorgeous!

Two of those are in use for her relatives and the other is my ex's ex-wife's name which would just be a bit weird 😂

I really have considered Hungarian names but they're just a no this time around, there isn't one that I love that wouldn't be doubling up. Thanks for the votes on Aster or Róise so far though!
