AIBU to want a purple cooker?

We’re going to get a new range cooker...and obviously this is a one off purchase for some years... my present cooker is a 20 year old wreck of a single oven so I’m v excited...

.... I’ve seen this fine beastie, it costs about the same amount as a Rangemaster, but has lots of bells and whistles, and more importantly exactly the hob setup I’d like (dual fuel with gas
hobs and a large hob at each end so I can do a bucket of eg chilli at one end and an equally big bucket of rice on the other. so many hobs only have one large one).
I really like purple... but will it impact hugely on my kitchen eg if we sell the house in a few years, like an avocado bath suite? AIBU to want a purple one?

its not always a given you will leave behind a cooker when you sell

Florencex · 31/08/2020 12:37

I think if it would suit your kitchen it looks fine. I don’t think anybody would be put off by its colour if they were buying your house, it is perfectly easy to live with and if somebody really did not like it they will replace it.

Imissmoominmama · 31/08/2020 12:38

It’s currently unavailable, so other folk must’ve liked them!

topofthewardrobe · 31/08/2020 12:39

It's lovely

ShirleyPhallus · 31/08/2020 12:40

I think you should buy for you, for now, and not for what some future person may or may not like

That said, the kitchen needs to be styled pretty well for it not to look totally odd

IcedPurple · 31/08/2020 12:40

As you might guess from my user name, too much purple is never enough!

Nanasueathome · 31/08/2020 12:41

AO have it, as do John Lewis

IamMaz · 31/08/2020 12:43

I have the same one but in black!!!

StillCoughingandLaughing · 31/08/2020 12:44

It’s definitely a bold choice, but if you like it, go for it. If you’re not thinking of selling - which presumably you’re not if you’re spending a lot on putting in a cooker - what’s the problem?

BikeRunSki · 31/08/2020 12:45

It’s not available? It’s ok though, it’s not an in yer face type of purple.

Justpickaname · 31/08/2020 12:46

I don't like it, I think it looks like a dolls house cooker, however, it wouldn't stop me from buying a house with one in.

BikeRunSki · 31/08/2020 12:46

X post. I see that other retailers have it.

TheWernethWife · 31/08/2020 12:47

Looks fabulous

NameChange84 · 31/08/2020 12:48

I’d make a bold choice like that in a home I was planning in staying in for a while.

I’d want to pull it out and get a new one if I was moving in. I hate the colour purple but I’d feel the same about any colour that wasn’t neutral to be honest.

Purplecatshopaholic · 31/08/2020 12:50

I love it (although it is defo more berry than actual purple).

daisypond · 31/08/2020 12:51

If it suits your kitchen, I’d get it. I like it. I assume maybe they can be resprayed maybe if someone doesn’t like it?

Bollocksitshappenedagain · 31/08/2020 12:55

I though it was going bright purple but that's lovely - sure rangemaster so one that colour as well. I didn't consider it but wouldn't go with the kitchen I had planned.

lotsolove · 31/08/2020 12:56

My friend has a purple Aga and it looks lovey. It doesn't jump out as being out of place and works very well in the kitchen.

NotEverythingIsBlackandWhite · 31/08/2020 12:57

Unless an oven and hob are built-in, wouldn"t you usually take them with you if you move home?

But, to answer your question, if you did leave it, yes, I think it would definitely be something that could put buyers off. I haven't looked at the link as I detest purple with a vengeance so know I won't like it.

TheFaerieQueene · 31/08/2020 12:58

Each to their own. I wouldn’t buy it, but that means nothing if you like it.

NotEverythingIsBlackandWhite · 31/08/2020 12:58

YANBU to want one though.

pussycatinboots · 31/08/2020 13:07

Do it.
Although that one is out of stock, so either you have or someone else has beaten you to it.

DuesToTheDirt · 31/08/2020 13:17

I'd buy a house because of that purple cooker Grin

Jaxhog · 31/08/2020 13:18

Looks lovely! If purple is your thing, then why not?

stopwining · 31/08/2020 13:23

@DuesToTheDirt

I'd buy a house because of that purple cooker Grin
Me too!!
