AIBU about creepy doll?

My sisters and I have unfortunately been clearing my nans house ready for sale. We found a very old doll that looks a little creepy, it's a young girl doll in hand knitted clothes and probably was my nan's. Nobody wanted her and I've bought her home. Both my children and husband says she's going to come alive and kill us all. I think she will be okay in the attic.
Have I bought a demon doll home?
She needs a name, I was thinking something of the same vintage so maybe mabel?

If she’s going to live in the attic, she must obviously be named Bertha after the first Mrs Rochester in Jane Eyre who was similarly incarcerated at Thornfield Hall. She did however, eventually escape and burned the house down...

This is my DD's beloved Baby Born doll. She's 16 (the doll). Do you think she's creepy? She's definitely grubby, although she gets washed and her eyes have faded from their original blue...

She's not even remotely creepy! But then I grew up in a house full of dolls. My mum collected them. She's got one with 3 faces

Place her in a box.

Wrap it in chains after sealing it with molten lead.

Lock the chains tight with a padlock.

Bless the padlock with holy water.

Throw it in the nearest body of flowing water.

Even then, she'll beat you to the front door.

Honestly, I’m generally terrified of old dolls but your one is so sweet OP - not scary in the slightest!

That was the freakiest kid in cinema history. And it's probably taken 'Samara' off the top 100 names list for about the next century.

There was a TV mini series back in the 80s that's coming back to mind now, about a haunted house on an island with a room stuffed full of the creepiest fekin dolls you ever saw. I can still hear the opening credits now, with one of them pictured drowning under water. The house is torched at the end, and all the dolls are shown with their faces melting in the flames like was candles.

Talisin yes! That was the one. I was a little kid when it screened, and it made me hide behind the sofa!

@MarieIVanArkleStinks I was a bit older than you but it’s stuck with me as well. I bought the DVD a few years back to see if it was as atmospheric/creepy as I remembered. It was! I wanted to go to Norway for years after though so I can’t have been too traumatised.

my DD (now 20) had a gigantic baby doll with a plastic head and really solid beanbag body. it was known as Big Heavy Baby, or The Notorious BHB.

i wandered into the living room very early one morning and it was crouched on the sofa facing me. i’m still convinced it blinked.

i fucking hated that doll.

I had a doll like that at my nan's house when I was a child, it had belonged to my mum before me. I called her Diana (i had a huge interest in the royals as a girl).

My MIL (an otherwise nice sensible woman) has a big thing for creepy antique dolls. To the extent where one of her themed guest bedrooms is 'The Doll Room' - every wall covered with shelves of frilly porcelain figures named stuff like Beatrice, Daisy, Alice, Harriet, Frances etc.

When there is a big family party and a sleepover there is quite a competition to not end up with that room. As how can you sleep with masses of murderous glassy gazes on you?!

It is the one time I am extremely grateful for DH's aggravating tendency to bowl up ridiculously early for everything. So in a decade of marriage we've only been last to arrive and therefore ended up with the freaky doll room once!
