AIBU about creepy doll?

My sisters and I have unfortunately been clearing my nans house ready for sale. We found a very old doll that looks a little creepy, it's a young girl doll in hand knitted clothes and probably was my nan's. Nobody wanted her and I've bought her home. Both my children and husband says she's going to come alive and kill us all. I think she will be okay in the attic.
Have I bought a demon doll home?
She needs a name, I was thinking something of the same vintage so maybe mabel?

@Howcanwehelp

images.app.goo.gl/9EdfvBwuuq841PFa9 A little like this but bigger and with hand knitted clothes. Her hair and face is painted and I think she had a bonnet at some point. I think now she's the daughter I never had.
Stuff that. Kill it with fire.

Throw her in the bin tonight. If you find her sitting in you bedroom watching you tomorrow morning, you will know what her true intentions are.

fucknuckle · 30/08/2020 20:28

you’re going to wake up in the middle of the night with that on your chest, hissing at you.

you’re welcome.

Talisin · 30/08/2020 20:29

@Casschops

She is totally going to release the loft ladder at 3 am. You'll hear her porcelain feet on the rungs as she descends slowly down, ringlets bouncing and tartan victorian outfit in a suitable red. She is going eat your brains with some fava beans and a nice bottle of chianti.
Obviously you must call her Hannabelle then...
KitMarlowesCodpieceOfthigh · 30/08/2020 20:29

Yeeeeah. That's obviously an Annabelle.

By which I mean that it's obviously possessed by a demon and is going to come for you in your sleep.

JaJaDingDong · 30/08/2020 20:30

PHOTO!

(I'm shouting now).

IamEarthymama · 30/08/2020 20:36

Oh I had a baby doll with a face a little like that
I loved her, she was called Rosebud
My mother cleared them all out when I went to University
Still bear a grudge 40 years later 😊

IamEarthymama · 30/08/2020 20:38

Here she is!

AIBU about creepy doll?
Hendalle · 30/08/2020 20:38

Oh I think that she’s cute.
My tolerance for dolls is perhaps above average as my aunty collects them. She has a bookcase full of porcelain dolls from all over the world, along with a few she made herself. I used to enjoy looking at their clothes and was occasionally allowed to play with a baby doll when my gran was looking after me, crazy woman let me at 4yrs old take a porcelain baby doll out on the bus with us Shock

Anyhoo, I would name your doll Annette - as that is what a doll I tormented my younger brother with was named Grin (hello to any of my family members who recognize enough of this to ID me).

DobbyTheHouseElk · 30/08/2020 20:39

Oh she’s so cute.

TorgosPizza · 30/08/2020 20:39

She's not creepy at all by antique doll standards!

Besides, she (presumably) never harmed your grandmother, so she should be fine at your place. Unless she's angry that you've moved her to a new house...

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 30/08/2020 20:40

I think now she's the daughter I never had

Well it's too late now isn't it , she's brainwashed you into taking her into your home .

If she has a bracelet or necklace don't remove it and don't wear it

She'll be in the knifedrawer before you can blink .(which you won;t be able to do ever again after she's had her way)

My DMum had a doll that my Grandad gave her (luckily she never gave it to us) it , porcelain face and a red checked dress , looked as evil AF ..I managed to convince her to get rid rehome it .

SideEyeing · 30/08/2020 20:42

She's lovely.

And by lovely I mean honestly burn it.

M0mmzee · 30/08/2020 20:43

Call it Dorothy or Dot or be really pretentious and name it Dory for short.

MarieIVanArkleStinks · 30/08/2020 20:45

I see why some people find certain dolls creepy. Those reborn things make my flesh crawl. This one's fairly benign looking by antique doll standards!

The word 'Rosebud' will never not remind me of the old film Citizen Kane!

Yarisalpaca · 30/08/2020 20:45

If she is an Effanbee Patsy Doll she could be worth a bob or two!

PheasantPlucker1 · 30/08/2020 20:48

Tell your family shes in the attic.

Then move her around the house every night. Thatll teach them to be rude about her Grin

Winniewonka · 30/08/2020 20:48

Take her to an antique dealer if she's similar to the one in your photo. She might be worth more than you think!

Igotthemheavyboobs · 30/08/2020 20:48

I have a haunted doll I found when I was 15 in a squash court. I called her Linda and she sets smoke and carbon monoxide detectors off.

AlexisCarringtonColbyDexter · 30/08/2020 20:49

Samara

Have you ever seen the ring, OP?

evil cackle

PhoebeSnow · 30/08/2020 20:49

She might be worth some money, put her on eBay or an antique selling site if you don’t want her.

OhTheRoses · 30/08/2020 20:54

Drusilla the dreadfully dear dolly.

LetsGoFlyAKiteee · 30/08/2020 20:54

if wasnt for the face she'd be cute. Those eyes! Sod seeing those in the dark!

DogInATent · 30/08/2020 20:55

Is it not odd that no one ever admits to having a psychopath killer doll in the attic? Maybe it's because no one has ever survived having a psychopath killer doll in the attic and lived long enough to tell us... .. ..

allaglow · 30/08/2020 20:59

DSis used to be terrified of a ventriloquist doll owned by our cousin.
Mr Parlequin.
I may have played on her fear a little ( older sister's privilege).
